Nice start for Joey O. He's taking shots and got the opening TD. Leads 2-1 after 1.

Rough 2nd period for Oliveri. Got rolled over and gave up 4 nearfall and a takedown. Trails 7-3 after 2.

Oliveri being simply over powered now 9-4. Turner is just so much stronger. Oliveri in on some nice deep shots and Turner was able to flick him off like a bug.

Yup, Turner is a 6th year senior and it showed. Oliveri was getting to his legs early but he simply overpowered him as the match went on.
Yup, Joey O wrestled well but got overpowered. Hope he wins some wrestlebacks.

MVB gives up a reversal, but immediately escapes so we are tied 3-3 after 2. He will start on bottom in the 3rd.

MVB loses on late takedown and back points too boot.

Not good, he was passive the whole third, constantly backing up with a stall call trying to protect the one point lead and riding time. Tried to stall his way to victory but it backfired in the waning seconds.

Ugh, well that wasn't great. Not sure what MVB was doing there at the end.. a complete meltdown instead of just wrestling. I'm not sure when that strategy has ever worked and unforuntately its too late for him to learn his lesson.

thats what happens when you run away all match and dont push the offense. horrendous loss. inexcusable. this tournament is going to be all about Rivera.
Agree. Watch it there…LOL!!! I got a good feeling at 84 and 97. Let’s Gooo!!!

He would have been better off just backing away for another 20 sec and taken a second stall call. Would have still won with RT.

That's what he was trying to do the entire 3rd but Robinson finally caught him. He was trying to back out of it but Robinson wouldn't let him. He does better when he's aggressive.

Tough loss by MVB but not surprising with that style and strategy. He's looked his best this year when he attacks more, duh. Hopefully, he attacks more in wrestlebacks and makes a run. 🤷🏻‍♂️

While we have a break until O'Neill vs. Starocci, here are everyone's next opponents thus far:

Dylan Shawver (Rutgers) vs . Kysen Terukina (Iowa State)
Joe Olivieri (Rutgers) vs. Malyke Hines (Lehigh)
Sebastian Rivera (Rutgers) vs. Chad Red (Nebraska)
Mike Van Brill (Rutgers) vs. Kody Komara (Kent State)

Hate that Chad Red draw in second match.

O'Neill in the hole on mat 3

Carter Starocci, 18-0 (Penn State) vs Connor O`Neill, 14-15 (Rutgers)

To put 174 in prospective regarding O’Neil vs Starocci. I believe one a Fresh the other a Soph. But one year can’t be huge.
