Hey, not to be a jerk but to clarify, Sprock is a sophomore as is Civetti and Daninger and Peterson is a junior.
You watch I think Scott will get more run at the midfield as the season wears on. He is just a handful for shortsticks to deal with from up top and if he can get them inverted look out. I think the thing that I would be most excited about is the fact that we scored 20 and got 2 goals collectively from AC, Kamish, Coyne, Mead and Sanguinetti. That would be half of our top guys returning on offense.
I also think that we had a great game from our rope unit With Rall and Russo playing extremely well at LSM.
Finally, the faceoff X was a huge win for us as we went 20-33 and Lloyd went 16-26 against a tough kid from Quinnipiac.

Most college guys are looking to be over 100% between faceoff and saves combined Saturday we were at 118% (57% saves and 61% faceoff's) any thing near 120% is awesome

Looks like all 3 FOGO were 50% or better. For one not in the know, is Ott still injured? If that's confidential I understand

Daninger is a soph, no? I agree. Putting up 20 with AC, Kamish, Coyne, Mead, and Sanguinetti getting 2 of those bodes very well for the future. If this offense continues to develop and gel it's going to put up incredible numbers.

Just need to continuously get them the ball.

If you are a coach, which I know your lax IQ is off the charts, how do you defend this team? Obviously you want to always try and takeaway what that team does best, in this case try to limit the attack with the focus on not letting AC get touches in dangerous positions, but that opens up other guys who are proven. Continued development and this is a serious conundrum for opposing DC's.

I would want to try and make the middies beat me and would probably pole Scott as he is the only nonlinear dodger we have at the midfield, (he has some shake to him) I would want AC to carry more as he is lethal off-ball and make Mullins carry as well. Make Gallagher more of a feeder.
I might also either fake slide or be slow to slide to the middies
I might also zone the back to take away some of their movement.
Basically, you want to disrupt the offensive flow and attack them at choke points while keeping them away from dangerous areas for us.

Clamp AC and run a 5 man zone?

A box in one as it is in basketball is a decent theory. Problem is you are exposing the shooters which RU has. You are taking out the best one in AC, but you are almost assuredly going to give up something hands free in the 10-12 yard range which from what we saw on Sat. is lethal.

I think it might be the best strategy defending this team. Depending on what my team's offensive philosophy is, I'd also try to work deep in the shot clock and value field balance as to try and limit breaks. The issue is that might not be your MO.

Syracuse for example and and Loyola too I'd imagine, aren't going to change who they are. Those games are going to be very entertaining run and gun shoot outs.

The potential is there...obviously the schedule toughens up gradually through the month which it should...I'll stay conservative

With that said, we have some guys at the midfield that can really shoot and can play...it was nice to see the utilization of certain guys on Saturday...I hope the staff sticks to this plan...even if things get a little rough for a game or two...if guys can get comfortable in specific roles and defined minutes, they will respond better and become more comfortable and established in "a" defined role...sometimes tinkering causes issues...just my opinion

This is a very deep midfield group...many of these guys would be stars at other schools...they would be, and here, they're battling just to get minutes...

It's early, but if we can win face offs, get solid goaltending, things could get interesting...in a good way

I loved the play of Rall and Russo (88) in the middle of the field and on D...and I do think using a few of the big bodies offensive athletes can be a very good strategy to support 2, 27, and 26...

Again, it's early, should be fun

I'll miss this week which bothers me, but I'm going to watch UVA v Loyola...some advanced scouting ;)

There is a freshman on Uva whose Pop played at Rutgers. He’s big fan, I’m sure he knows who your son is. Say hi of you can. Good dude.

Sorry did not see this. if you shut anyone it would be Mullins as he is the carrier and distributor of the ball. who do you shut him with a pole? seems like a waste, a SS? that would be ok depending on how hard Mullins works to get open. Most of the time if you feel like you need to shut you want to do it in a way that improves the rest of your matchups. So if you shut him with a short then you can rotate your other pole to a middie so as to possibly create a better matchup. I think we shoot to well from the outside to play zone and AC may just kill you inside. You play shut or zone but probably not both.

Shutting Mullins with a shorty would be hard. He’s quick and savvy enough to get open and you’d have to slide to that match up early if playing man.

Fun discussion. Always like scouting our own team.

And Gallagher is a Junior not a Soph.

Sounding like RU vs PSU will be a DH with Spring Football, just a quick FYI. I'm thinking lax game at noon, spring football at 4 pm.

So happy they are doing this. UM and OSU have been doing this and have the largest regular season crowds in lax history. Fun way to spend the day. Lax fans can show football fans how to properly tailgate.

I love that the B1G designated the last game of the regular season as Rivalry Weekend like football as well. RU plays PSU, OSU plays UM, Hopkins plays UMD.

I agree, shutting off Mullins with a shorty could turn into a blood bath. Even if you body him up well he only needs a tiny bit of separation to get his hands free and he has as quick a catch and release as I’ve seen.

We have a long history with PSU and play for the Friendship Cup, which is ironic, because there isn't a lot of friendship there. Coach Hayes went to PSU, which is why it was started. RU's record vs PSU is very good historically.
