No. 9 Men's Lacrosse Hosts No. 6 Johns Hopkins Sunday night in a battle of top-10 teams

Stanwick was topside at GLE so 13 had to slide. The 2 slide was on time but the kid made a hell of a play while being hit. They have good players too.

We bury the look in the crease 30 seconds earlier and we win the game most likely.

I am not sure I agree with the first part. He might have gotten to GLE, but he wasn't really in a scoring position. I would rather have taken our chances forcing him to make a scoring play with Rex draped on him than sliding to him and creating assist opportunities. I am impressed with his passing ability and vision. I am not impressed with his athleticism and strength to make it happen himself.

Being at the game both Cali and Gef are right. The general rule in sliding to X is if your man gets bet topside, which Rexrode was, you slide Adjacent which Bronco did and you need to get the 2 slide from Scarpello which we did. They just did it a hair faster than we did. Great play on their part, and that is not my issue it was the apparent one sided officiating. There were three calls in a sequence all in Hopkins favor that allowed them to keep the ball and score to make it 4-3.
A lot of you were talking about the defense and looking at shots on cage, but the reality is that they took a lot of possession shots and we got multiple shot clocks on them, doing this against a team of this caliber is simply excellent defense. Did we give up goals inside yes, they found something and exposed it. It is called good coaching and halftime adjustments. Great game disappointing finish

We got the typical officiating that Hopkins gets at Homerwood. A place long known for horrible calls against the opponent.

Fam- Hope things are good. You hitting the alum event next weekend?

Things are going slow, thanks for asking. I will be there, we play Conestoga before the game but I will be around after.

Finish 3rd and we are in. No doubt. We have played the schedule game and RPI game too well.

The B1G is a 3 team league at minimum. I could see 4 depending on how things shake out, and even 5 isn't out of the realm if they go a certain way.
Been there 2 years ago ...

Been there 2 years ago ...
Actually two years ago we had a bad loss to Stony Brook and the one that kept us out of the tourney was the loss late to OSU as well as having NJIT Wagner and Monmouth on the schedule. We replaced them with Lehigh, Brown and Cuse and beat a very good Robert Morris team. We have 3 losses by a total of 4 goals. If we keep winning we will get in.

Yep. Our RPI two years ago was well behind where we are now.

We played the RPI game very well. Also, being in B1G play now assures of a very high RPI. It's the game the Acc had mastered. And now the B1G is.

I would never say we are lock with the biased powers that be picking these at larges, but with our RPI, we finish 3rd in the league, we are in. I see no scenario where the B1G doesn't get at minimum 3 top teams in. But we need to win. Starting with UM.

Every game is season unto itself.

I believe that OSU is very gettable in the road this year and I think that we beat UM Sunday and PSU in a few weeks. If we do that we should get in.

Cali how about those freshman they showed big time guys taking those shots at the end of the game. I feel like Gallagher thinks he. An get his shot against any SSDM which is awesome and Coyne has really become an effective player on that attack, he is not AC but hopefully AC will make it back and we can see him play again.

They are really showing themselves. Gallagher is already a handful. He isn't big, but he is quick and strong for his size. Dixon said he reminds him of Sowers. That's some serious praise. No doubt the kid has talent. And heart. He isn't afraid. For a freshman, that's huge. There were times later in the game when it was clear the other guys were looking for him to make something happen. He's earned respect.

We are scratching the surface of what we will see from Coyne. That kid just turned 18. He is going to get bigger, stronger, faster. His skills are top shelf. Give him that opportunity in front again and I bet he buries it. You can see him getting better each game. Like Gallagher. Both of those kids have great off hands and vision you can't teach. Along with maturity.

I really hope we get to see Coyne and AC on the field together. If nothing else, just want to see AC finish what he started in a big way. That kid's been a warrior. He deserves something great for it.

Didn't realize this weekend was the alumni weekend. My team and I will be attending the game. Supposed to be nice weather.

Did you get much snow? I think we have only had a handful of full field practices this season. Craziest spring I have ever been a part of that is for sure.

Rutgers must win 3 BIG games before the BIG tournament....so at Ohio State at the end of the season is basically a must win.

is this RPI or power? Helluva drop if RPI no???

I believe it has to be out of the stick. Gotta give credit on the last play. The kid made a play. No way was that goal not a missed call. College lacrosse needs a shot clock. It's makes no sense now. Within 10 seconds everyone watching or in the stadium knows it wasn't a goal. Tough, tough one to take. If you exclude Albany, Hopkins might be perceived as the best team in the country right now. Gotta like how we compete. Kids showed heart. One more play and we win that.

Need to rebound next weekend. It's now the biggest game of the season.
The game needs a proper shot clock system. I don't buy the excuse the 'smaller schools don't have the resources for a shot clock.' Make the rule effective 12-18 months out, tel every school that they have to have it going in order to participate, and you're done. Seriously: big orange goals are an expensive budget item, too, but every program buys them because you need them in order to play a game. They pay for refs, because you need them to play the game. Figure it out.

Lacrosse is a game of runs. We made a huge one against Cuse and closed them out. Two more plays and we win the game against Hopkins. Think about how far we've come. We are lamenting the fact that we didn't beat Hopkins and Cuse in the same year.

It's sports guys. In hindsight, could we have done some things better? Absolutely. We left the front door open a couple of x and missed a few that we'd like back. But we don't change anything. We are right there. As Coach Brecht says, players make plays. We just needed one more (and the refs do to their job).

I would have liked to see a bit more production from our second line guys. We typically get a little more from our second line. Traz looking a little limited isn't helping. They other guys need to step up.

Clean up a few things around the crease, and little more from our role guys, and we are fine.

That's the "Power Ratings" which takes into account more than just the RPI. It's supposed to be an approximation of what is looked at when at-large bids come out. I think you have to go 3-2 at a minimum in BIG play to have a shot at an at-large.

BTW, Cali proved right again as UMBC takes down mighty Albany 11-7 today.
Also Denver destroyed Nova 22-6.

Incredible score. As is Villanova getting woodsheded. Losses can happen. Getting humiliated like that will drop you like a stone. Great scores for us. Need to win Sunday. Hope Michigan has a hellacious travel day. Fairfield over ranked Hofstra will help our RPI.

Just win baby.

I walked by the Michigan contingent at Newark Airport today. I said "Go RU" out loud and got a smirk from one of their coaches. They didn't look happy to be in NJ.
I hope we whip their asses tomorrow .

One of there coaches is a former Rutgers coach so that might of been who it was
