OFFICIAL USC Trip Thread-- Who is going? What are your plans?

To those making the trip---

I am thinking about getting together a Thursday morning hike to the Hollywood sign. You can get right behind it and take pics, the view is great of the city from there as well. Would be a great group RU fans photo op. The hike itself is modestly strenuous but nothing crazy .
On a thursday AM it won't be terribly crowded either (you can imagine on weekends it draws a lot of people)

Anyway, just in the early planning stages and trying to garner interest. If this appeals to you private message me here, or if you want my email can give it to you if you have questions

anyone welcome!

GO RU
Please remind people to bring gifts and wear proper attire for the meet-and-greet with Victory Cat Marcus Aureliua.

so it seems like Friday works better for most which works fine for me as well. This would be morning hike but you east coast people will probably be up early with the time zone change anyway.

You don't have to be a triathalon runner for this but should be in decent shape. its 6 miles round trip, 1100 feet elevation gain. View of the Griffith Park observatory, down town LA and hollywood hills and of course the Hollywood sign are stupendous. Please let me know if you are interested. there is no max or min amount, whoever wants to come can come.
Sounds pretty dern strenuous to this old man.
I'll be up for the hike.
Shelby would risk missing the game even if he started on Columbus Day. Ascending barstools and with a great view of Budweisers and burgers is much more in his wheelhouse.

I'm thinking be at the trailhead at 9AM if that works for everyone. have to get the hike in before we all go to the game. It will take prob 3.5 hours I think for the whole thing. if people prefer earlier start to get ready for the game earlier I'm down. Give it about 30-35 min drive I think, +/-
9 Works (personally, I would suggest a bit earlier (8 or 8:30) for less heat and traffic (to (lesser traffic) and from (the classic LA Friday traffic), but the Ms. may veto me!). Should still have enough time to power down, shower and head to the tailgates!

What's the name of the trail or address of the trailhead? I want to map it.

Wisconsin $220
Penn State $275
Rutgers $165
Nebraska $275
Notre Dame $330

Tier 4:
Utah State $80
Wisconsin $105
Penn State $150
Rutgers $80
Nebraska $150
Notre Dame $190

Tier 6:
Utah State $50
Wisconsin $70
Penn State $100
Rutgers $50
Nebraska $100
Notre Dame $130

Normally always buy thru RU Ticket Office for away games.
In this case I made an exception.
Bit the bullet and bought Club Seats thru Stub Hub.
On the same side as the RU contingent but in a more desirable location on the 20 yard line.

Not for sale on their website:

Anybody have a link to the info for the Rutgers pregame tailgate event? My brother livesin LA, so I'll be at the game with him and my nephew. We gotthe tickets throught he Rutgers ticket office already, but I'd also like to look into the Rutgers pregame event with them.

I know, I don’t know why their ticket rep told me that. Tried sending her a reply Friday am and got an automated response she is out until Monday. Will report back.

For those of you buying through USC, what sections are you looking at?
Rutgers (Visitor) side starts in 101-103 and is that side of field. We picked up 2 in 104A or B, on about the 10-15 yard line for $95 each I think. Considering the ticket prices I listed above, that seems like a good deal. Perhaps we could get better closer to game time, but we wanted to have our tickets and be done.

Tickets through RU were $65 plus a few fees. I paid $209 for 3 tickets.

If anybody hasn't booked a flight yet, Spirit has a sale going on through 8/6 for fairly cheap fares.

Maybe it's changed, but after one flight to Florida on Spirit, I would walk to LA before taking Spirit.
Those tickets through Rutgers will likely be in the back corner of the end zone, but you will be with Rutgers fans.

Got everything booked outside of our hotel. Very excited for this away game! Wondering if any you RU faithful will be staying at the InterContinental in downtown LA. I'd rather be around more people rocking the block R.

What are some "Must Do" Things for this trip? Looking for things to do on the days before/after this trip in Southern California.

The Chargers are home that week. The Clippers are playing their first home game at the Intuit Dome. Studio Tours and of course, the RU Tailgate.

Looking for suggestions for golf the day after the game. Seems like the public courses are going to be jammed up on a saturday in LA. Is it better to look outside the city? Want to play somewhere nice if I'm bringing the clubs.

depends on what you like to do. Do you like being active and physical? do you like museums? do you mind driving? are you a foodie? where are you staying?

forget playing golf in the city. The public courses are generally better than public courses eslewhere but they are insanely crowded. there are high end courses around but you have to drive and it won't be easy and they are very pricey. If you want to golf your best bet is spending a coupe of days in palm springs

lot of folks planning to attend? Need to head to SF/LA for some client meetings and figured this would be a good week to do so! Will most likely be solo so be great to meet up with a few people

Yes, yes, yes, yes, LA, and yes, yes, yes, yes, yes in anticipation of other questions

Don't know what anyone else is doing but I booked a two hour flight lesson out of Santa Monica Airport to do some sight seeing and learning how to navigate through the Class B airspace of LAX. May do a quick hop to Catalina if we have time. Also my buddy wants to go to see ELO at the KIA forum.
