Played his best game of the season (so far) against the best opponent.

9 Pts
8 Rebs (3 ORB)
5-6 FT

He's getting more comfortable with several games under his belt now, and he's playing more natural, and grabbing boards more aggressively. Disappointed that Pike took him out when we needed rebounds at the end.

Nobody in college basketball should be able to push him around, so he needs to keep it up. Would like to see him protect the basket a little better, get some blocks, and continue making easy baskets.

He's getting there.

Was very impressed with his work tonight. Rebounding, hitting FTs

Wow, Big E. He needs to keep the braided hair because ever since then, he's been a different player. Does he still look awkward at times? Yes. Does he still catch the ball and literally have to think before he acts? Yes. But has he already come a LONG way since the season opener? Yes. I think E is really improving, and my guess is he is finally taking Jay Young & company's coaching and translating it to productive minutes on the floor. He looks SO much more comfortable than he did vs. St. John's and the first few games at the RAC. He has been a pleasant surprise and I hope he keeps getting better 'cause we're gonna need him. Love it of late though!

Played well but he’s still also a back up. My issue is, at times he’s nowhere to be found on defense when a guard is driving through the paint. Too many times I’ve seen an opposing team’s player get by whomever is on him and our center is not in the paint to meet him. Why? Pike, park his ass in the paint and let him block shots. Our defensive rotations suck. Worst I’ve seen in bball

On the other hand he goes to block shots he can’t make instead of boxing out for the rebound. There was a huge play down the stretch that cost us big. Somehow he needs to get a feel for that very quickly.

I know exactly what play you’re talking about

I thought that was the first time all year he'd done that.

Many of these teams have 5's that shoot the three. He spent a bunch of time guarding a guy out at the line.

Huge point.
It’s a major reason we give up offensive rebounds

Sherm and Lion are Ogbole truthers I’ve flip flopped admittedly, that we are better spent letting Lathan develop. But maybe Ogbole is coming to be serviceable faster after all. What I don’t get is how does he seem to have some touch off the glass with the ball but have poor hands at the same time. Thought they would be more correlated.

His mental lapses are the killer though.
I think we should get him diagnosed for ADD and get that man an adderall script. Let’s see how he does remembering who touched it last.

This….we have no rim protection no matter who is on the floor, Ogbole, Somerville, small ball lineup center, etc.. Teams are flying through turnstiles and going to the hoop for layups in every game. Ogbole should just be parked in the paint and try to impact some of these drives teams are taking at will against us. Ogbole was very solid last night, but we have near zero rim protection on this team.

Zero rim protection. Myles Johnson for example was a big net positive on defense. Got rebounds and changed shots. You need that to force scoring droughts and get back in games

Except that is not is how basketball is played, especially playing man to man.

Lathan giving up the rebound on the free throw was huge. Big E would have probably gotten that board.

Btw, how great was it when Dylan had to sit and the opposing coach picked Ogbole to take his critical free throws?

Big E steps to the line, smooth and relaxed, and Bam! Bam! He calmly sinks both.

Tell me you weren’t yelling at the TV, “take that, you m*therf***er!”

And the TV broadcast showed while Harper sat on the floor at the scorer's table waiting to come in, he was looking up at and to the side, at the Alabama head coach, jawing at the head coach, LOL!

He fumbles passes to him and hesitates to shoot open bunnies. But he is a gamer, and yes, has shown more offensive talent than Cliff. He will get better as he plays and his size can’t be taught.
Thought you were talking about Cliff in your opening sentence… Cliff is one of the best dunkers but whiffs bunnies and had stone hands last night, too….

I believe I’ve seen it several times. Attempting to block shots is high risk behavior because every time you miss the odds are very, very high the other team has an easy putback.
Ill take your word for it, but had been surprised how often he didn't go for blocks. Thought Lathan had done it more.

Agreed on that last foul shot as Somerville just gets pushed around too easily which he did by Nelson and we didn’t get the rebound

Definitely could have been called a foul. I just can’t complain about the officiating since Harper is getting the Michael Jordan halo treatment.
I wonder how many of those fouls are gonna be called when we get to league play in a bit.
Especially on the road.

What would those numbers be if they were extrapolated out to 34 minutes? I don't know how many minutes he played.
