One fan's observations of non game related stuff.

I received a fan feedback email from RU . Fill out and sent your comments
The $6 water were 1 liter bottles. Smaller sizes available for $4.
The pulled pork sandwich was delicious for 7.00
Short pregame intro.
I could feel the heat from the fire intro.

Hey GR Unit ... what's up with everyone drinking Rose in the yellow lot ? This used to be a beer guzzling zone ... now it's the pampered zone !

Interesting comment about the WiFi ... tell us more !!

I like what I see out there! Some smart guy told me those speaker like things were "probably WIFI."

$4.00 also a bit silly and certainly were not available at the primary "Hydration Station." Rip off and why exclusive contracts are awful.

If you don't like $4 water, there are numerous water fountains around the stadium where water is free! (Not the coldest ever, but good enough)
Anyone try the kale veggie burgers?

Did they run the video of the "knights in the NFL"?..... I did not see it, unless they ran it when the family was by the concessions

If not, another mistake...... I like that recruits can see that they can make the pros here, and we can be proud of placing quite a few.

they did. Devin McCourty was listed as Patriots and Super Bowl Winner

EVERYONE knew it was going to be brutally hot, why folks did not prepare by bringing their own bottled water in is beyond me. And if not sure of the policy, what's the worse scenario, you leave behind some very inexpensive bottles of water ? When buying by the case, you are spending about 15 cents a bottle.

There are several stupid things that need to be straightened out. Why are caps removed from water bottles in some sections, but not others? Because its a "throwing hazard?" Really? Then why allow someone to bring in a frozen bottle of water? Seems to be that a frozen bottle of water would inflict A LOT more damage/injury than a non-frozen bottle.
Also, and it really ruffled my feathers.. I carried 2 bottles of water in with no problem, but my 9 year old son had to toss his bottle of Gatorade because he opened it and took 2 sips walking from the car to the gate. He still had the red Joker Smile on his face, but still had to dump it. Again, no logical explanation.
If I wasn't so caught off guard and rankled by the stupidity of the rule (not the officer enforcing the rule. He was very polite and sympathetic), I would have returned to the car, poured two sips of water into his Gatorade, then screwed the cap back on.

Also, why is there a refrigerator with water and soda outside of section 104, yet the Lemonaide guy right next to it doesn't sell it? Four people in a row asked for Lemonade and a bottle of water and were told the same thing. At least there was no line at the concession stands to buy a bottle.

Love the buy the water by the case crowd. Lotta condo and apartment dwellers don't have the "luxury" of storing cases of water. The issue is $6.00 bottles of water. Although no one begruges RU a profit, $6.00 is ridiculous.

Spot on with everything. The lack of common sense exhibited by the people making these ridiculous rules is stupifying.

As you were leaving your car why did you not instruct your kid not to open the bottle.
Your failure is on you

Sure. I should have realized that two closed bottles of water was less of a "threat" than a Gatorade bottle with two sips out of it... Yup. My bad...

Southside Johnny added to playlist please. I like the idea of "We're Havin' a Party" after a score. That would be awesome.

Also "I Don't Wanna Go Home" can be the end of 3rd quarter song. Maybe.

Sounded like noise pollution on tv. Its a college game where people want to hear the bands, not DJ Khaleds collection or ACDC 40 times a game. Plus that Metallica song on third down has run its course. Someone brought this up during the offseason and i noticed it yesterday that the crowd is not going apesh** crazy loud because they're busy doing the stupid aur guitar thing. Probably wouldn't hear the crowd over the PA anyway.

Dame shame Rutgers will not listen because the more fans complain about this, the worse it gets.

The crowd wasn't going apeshit crazy because the heat index was probably over 100 and we were playing Howard. Let me know if we're not going apeshit crazy during an actual legit opponent.

Also on a side note...that chopper flyover before the game was awesome. Shocked I didn't see a thread about it.

This policy has been in existence for years now. If this was your 1st game ever and decided not to read the rules, then yeah your bad. If it wasn't your 1st game, still your bad as claiming ignorance does not exclude you from the rules. We all follow the rules my niece and nephew had unopened bottles of water with them and got in. But somehow your 9 year old child is special and should be treated differently than 30,000 others.

The students were the best part of the game. I never expected that many students to show up and remain there until the 3rd quarter. The rest of the fans, not so much. The north end zone was pretty bare. I'm glad we finally fixed the R-U chant! The R and U are finally spaced out like it was always supposed to be and it sounded so much better. The student section did a great job leading the chant. The only problem is the rest of the stadium hardly participated at all. I understand it was hot and it was against Howard, but come on. Also the rest of the stadium hardly participates in the 3rd down guitar strum.

The band was smaller than last year and I could hardly hear them. Not impressed.

The food at the concessions was subpar and expensive. I got an Italian sausage on a hot dog roll for $9!

Did they play Livin' on a Prayer? I always thought it was an awesome tradition and usually the entire stadium sings along.

We liked you better when you weren't pretending to be a Rutgers fan.

Don't get me wrong, we didn't really like you then, but it was still more than we like you now.
Jim is right and no one cares about being liked but it's no wonder are Build fund is where it's at with such frugality going on. You guys want us to be winners well winning programs cost and since the majority of RU fans are so frugal expect more of the higher prices. The school needs money for facilities and the like and the hardcore fan is non existent at RU.

Try re-reading my post. My point was about it being a stupid and inconsistent rule. (Like why are caps removed it some spots, but not others?). What difference does 2 sips make? Are they worried that I opened it up and poured vodka in? If so, then again, I could have done that and closed it up again.

It had nothing to do with me thinking my kid is special.

Really? I thought the band put on a good show. They outperformed the Howard band.

"You guys" have a hard time understanding the difference between things that matter.

6 bucks for a bottle of water is robbery. Period. Especially since very little of that money is going to "the build fund".

Stop being stupid.

As for hardcore fans being "nonexistent", I've been a season ticket holder for 27 years and have sunk over 100 Gs into this program - and I'm on the low side of people I know. So you can blow that one out your ass.

Well if theres a chance for the crowd to go apeshit crazy,
-1, the PA would be too loud for the crowd to be heard. Shame because it does get LOUD compared to other stadiums,
-2, The crowd wont be able to get batshit crazy since the PA would have the crowd STOP yelling and screaming and have them the stupid air guitar or the seven army nation song like the past couple of years!!!

Went to a couple of games last when the crowd was AMPED THE F UP when the PA started the DOON... DU DU DU DOOON DU. This makes the band is worthless. It CANT do its job.

Sorry for the stupid rant anout nothing lol.

agree on all of it... besides the 7 nation army song is what PSU uses when they are on offense. Going to look dumb playing that and hyping up the PSU crowd later in the year.

Oh and the students are still yelling "F Penn State"

This may sound surprising, but I had no idea people are allowed to bring in unopened bottles of anything, mostly because I've usually had more than enough liquid at the tailgate and don't drink anything in the stadium (yesterday was an exception as I did have a bottle of water). Now I'm even more befuddled than before, since it's completely illogical to be able to bring in capped, full bottles, while the concessions folks force people to take caps off of full bottles.

If it's safety driven, no capped (more "throwable," in theory) bottles should be allowed in the stadium, period. And frozen bottles (capped or uncapped - no difference in "throwability") should never be allowed in, from a safety perspective. If it's business related, then no bottles of any kind should be allowed to be brought in, but then caps shouldn't need to be removed from purchased bottles.

And I get your annoyance at not being able to bring in bottles with 2 sips gone from them, as they're no different from full bottles in this case. Just don't get it.

I know people who bring caps from home.

1. Yellow Lot Parking Staff: Pleasant and Professional. Well done! Agreed - in addition, they even gave us more tailgating room this year than past years - not sure if they knew less fans were coming and this was just a one time thing or not.
2. Sheriffs/Police: Right balance between making presence known but not overbearing. Agreed.
3. Thank God for slight cloud cover and breeze because If not, people would have been hospitaliized. Not sure about hospitalized, but it really helped.
4. Why Why Why? Despite numerous gates that could be open, we get the same bottle neck on the West side every year. The get in early crowd has to shut their collective traps until they come out and see the crowd 20 minutes pre-game. Didn't notice - the wait was only 3-4 minutes on the west side about 15 minutes before kickoff.
5. $6.00 waters unconscionable!!!! Highway robbery and just wrong on so many levels. Yeah, but that's kind of capitalism, lol...
6. Did the Scoreboard post any out of town scores? Bummed. College Football Fans. Post scores please. Agreed.
7. God Bless the New DJ. Bruce and Badlands! Fabulous! Some Ramones and Bon Jovi: New Jersey/ New York strong and smart. Song that sounded like bad tuba's/horns awful. "We're Having a Party" after a win please! Local band, the Rogues' jig version of Alma Mater is worth a listen. Changing words to Alma Mater is awful. Neutral on the DJ - liked Yoshi, liked the new guy - anything but hearing horrible marching band music for me.
8. As much as I like the new DJ, still like to hear the band a bit more. Disagree, see above.
9. Pet peeve: Play to the home side once in awhile. Not fair to half the stadium and the RU side. Play what - are you talking about halftime? If so, I never watch halftime - see #7, lol.
10. Huge flag was great. Must have missed it.
11. Looks like making attempt to get Wi Fi with speaker like things all over. Don't use wifi during a game.
12. Student turnout impressive. Agreed, very impressive.

Nice post...

Email folks that make the decisions.

please don't email the people that make the decisions to ask why we can bring in capped bottles &/or frozen bottles. Because then the people who make the decisions will realize that the rules need to be changed and we will all be forced to purchase $6 bottles of water. Just spread the word amongst your friends.... put water bottle caps in your pocket or put closed water bottles in your clear bag.

Am I losing my mind here? Who said you had to buy it?
