One thing I admire Michigan State athletics for ... they can say they had at least two great multi-sport athletes. Kirk Gibson and Steve Garvey both played football and baseball for the Spartans. Last Spring, Kirk Gibson was in Piscataway at Bainton Field to see his son play for the Spartans baseball team. Watched from beyond the outfield fence, a regular guy like all the other yard birds there.

In fairness, a lot of athletes today could probably also do two sports. But, either they are concerned with injury taking them out of everything or just want to concentrate on one. And, many coaches really frown on them doing more than where they got the scholarship from.
