There's no sickness, OSU played a high level games against Michigan Sunday and fell short....this was just a flat, let-down game that happens after big emotional games against top opponents where teams expend a lot of energy.
Nebraska rallies from 20+ down last Sunday vs Northwestern, next game, flat and out of gas vs Penn State, Nebraska gets blown out.
Illinois plays a national TV game against Sparty Saturday night and has Duke at MSG this Saturday night.....in between is a game at Wisconsin.......while Wisconsin is having a great season, they don't bring the cache as Duke this Saturday or Sparty last Saturday night....Illinois gets blown out by 21 vs Wisconsin.
For this Ohio State/Northwestern game or anyone in the area of the bottom 3, it is now a more urgent matter for teams to avoid the bottom 3 and there's extra motivation for these schools. NW could have just experimented with new lineups and played a bunch of freshman or others, but they stayed on course and competed to win.
Minnesota getting organized and sweeping the LA schools on the road, suddenly makes their next 2 games against PSU and NW, as 2 games that have a sense or urgency. Someone has to win and avoid 15th or 17th.
People who don't understand wear and tear of a real conference, just point to the NCAA tournament as which conference is the best, which doesn't take into account other leagues without this "you have to qualify for the conference tournament ", as a factor. The B1G has is right and it will effect seeding in the NCAAs, because more teams will have 12 to 14 losses and other leagues will get to see if coasting through the regular season helps them or not.
