OT: #1 NJ to Syracuse

7th in the ACC, I know Cuse was at the bottom of the barrel and now they are in the middle of the barrel. Great improvement in recruiting for Cuse fans and improvement next year, maybe 7-8 wins.
Fran did an amazing job coming in- no matter how you look at it. And he got some really good support from the school- but he also walked into a team that was not a total dumpster fire. You guys have been 5-7 wins for the past 3 seasons.
With GS - Rutgers was a complete dumpster fire. Coach Ash burnt it all down and he came into a 4/2/1 win seasons.
Its great when you consider how NYS barely produces P5 talent. Rutgers is surrounded by lots of talent. Cuse got 10 wins 5 years ago and actually beat ranked teams. When was the last time rutgers beat a ranked team?

Middle Tennessee State had a crown me moment the year (2017) Syracuse beat the #2
Ending that year at 4-8 didn't help bragging about one of the 4 wins that season.
A once proud program has become something it's fans have few things to brag about and need to hope their new HC , who never was thought good enough to be a ordination ( except as honorary co:DC to keep him ) can prove he can do more than just recruit talent.

didn't move the goal posts, only let you know bragging about beating #2 in 2017 doesn't change the fact of a 4-8 season with a loss to Middle Tennessee .
Just pointed out Syracuse hired someone that proved he can recruit but coaching skills never made him a coordinator because it was the right thing to do when talking about that once proud program whose fans still live in the past
As for living in the past, Rutgers fans look for success in the present and future, the past we acknowledge isn't something to brag about even though there were some good years there .
Syracuse fans don't seem to know they are not the big dogs they were and RU has become a program they are starting to envy now like they did by the end of the G1 era

You are right. Every BiG East team was better than you, Pitts, Conn, Rutgers, Boston College, WV, Cinn had more wins than losses against you. That must really hurt.

Rutgers (as an overall program) is in such a much better situation going forward it is laughable.
BIG > ACC (much better schedule and competition for player exposure)
$100M > $40M (not sure on ACC media deal but Rutgers definitely has more media money to reinvest in coaches and other aspects of the program with the divide growing each year)
Rutgers has so many more options for potential NIL deals due to proximity to NY, NJ and Phil and the schedule matchups with B1G teams coming to town. If you were a potential NIL contributor (private non-alum company), wouldn’t you want the face representing your company playing in B1G games against B1G competition on much better network coverage??
The ACC is turning into the old dying Big East that became the AAC…. Syracuse is stuck in that league!! Why aren’t there the same concerns as there were when the Big East was getting ripped and the validity of the conference was in question? As soon as FSU and Clemson bolt…. Then what?
I’m not saying SU won’t have success in the ACC but what the hell will that really mean in the grand scheme of things if you are playing a patriot league schedule? Is that really going to excite kids and players?? That goes again the whole concept for the last decade with kids wanting to play in the SEC against the best competition.
Also.. If SU fans don’t think strength of schedule will come into play when selecting the 12 team playoff, then I don’t know what to tell you. Of course winning a weak league might get you in but you could be the 12th seed or even left out if you are 2nd place.

So I guess your claim to fame is doing what every one else did. That and a 2006 Texas bowl win vs a 7-5 team.

Beyond that, not every recruit has the drive to challenge themselves to compete in one of the top 4 conferences in the USA (excludes ACC) as deemed by the College Football Playoff Committee. Case in point, McCord turned down more NIL $$ from Nebraska for a guaranteed starting spot at Syracuse to play versus lesser competition over the course of a season and in order to pad his stats for his last year of eligilbility.
I'm curious if Yellis is such a win for Cuse over Rutgers- why the kid visited Rutgers 10 times and finally settled?

Outside of this ONE recruiting class that is essentially splitting hairs, do you really think long term that is sustainable?? Do you really think you can keep up when Rutgers is getting $100M vs the $40M? Over the course of a decade that is a $600,000,000 difference in REINVESTMENT.
