OT: #1 NJ to Syracuse

He should have a successful 2024 season given they don't play Clemson, FSU, Louisville nor North Carolina in conference.
There are likely some MAC schedules tougher than theirs. Their SOS will be somewhere near the 70s-100s next year. The ACC is headed towards being a mid-major and the proof is right there in that schedule. If FSU or Clemson leave they'll be lucky to send one rep to a 12 team playoff, just like the Mountain West or the AAC.

In the short term though, for Fran's recruiting purposes, next year's schedule is prob a blessing.

NYS doesnt come no where close to the amount of P5 prospects NJ has. Su has to recuit nationally every year. No one is praising them for that
Going by your site as well as ours- looking at both teams 4 star commits- Ross never visted us and we never offered(to be honest- kind of seems strange as we could use WR's) - As for Willis- guy was trying his hardest to get an offer from us that just never came- took at least 10 visits to our campus without an offer.
Our 4 star kids- Sanders- Cuse did offer but he decided not to visit Duff- he visited Cuse twice and got an offer. Decided on The Real NY team

Ross never visited because he didn’t want to got to rutgers. No NJ propsect with options is dying to go to rutgers. Pitt has been much more successful. You guys wanted their coach bad. Duff got a nil deal. Dont blame him.

There are already three wideouts in RU's 2024 class.....Kevin Levy from Florida, and Benjamin Black and Isaiah Crumpler from North Carolina. Actually there's a fourth if you count Korey Duff from New York ...who I'm betting will end up a wideout, not a tight end.
How many wideouts do you think RU should take in this class ?

Im beloved on every site. No one has to respond back to me. Im not the one keeping the thread going. You guys keep creating new Syracuse threads as well "Fran Brown is a bad coach" lol
Beloved? Odd choice of words. You have been called out as being a clown for years on this site. I can only imagine it is more of the same on the others.

dodged the bullet. Good for you.
no RU didn't dodge any bullets, the player didn't go for Brown's pitch and is looking for a better fit.
Remember money, no one here is knocking Brown's recruiting, just saying he has to prove himself as a HC before saying he'll be another" Ben Schwartzwalder "
That said, make sure you know what you're talking about when bragging about what Syracuse is doing.
First you bragged about the DC with limited experience being a great hire that will do great, rhen found out Brown knew he couldn't handle it on his own and brought in experienced help.
Brown's OC has plenty of coaching experience, just not as a OC.
So don't claim he's a slam dunk, just say the 26 years as an assistant should have prepared him to be an OC

Being a great recruiter helps , being a good position coach helps, but when you move up the coaching ranks , you need to prove you can handle the job and be able to use the talent you recruited the right way or you're just wasting the talent you recruited ir you'll lose

Just make sure you guys know what you are talking about. Saying both coordinators never called plays. That was proven wrong. You keep moving goal posts. I never made any predictions. Not sure what you are talking about. I never said Fran is a slam dunk. I dont make stuff up like rutgers fans.

Lmao can’t wait to come back here next cycle for the spin jobs. “ We recruit nationally now”. The “we didn't really offer”“He waited too long” takes. If he waited too long it means he never wanted to go to rutgers in the first place. Lol.
When Duce was being recruited, your fans didn’t believe that RU didn’t go after him hard, and you thought Syracuse won that battle
The fact that he was slow in camp was ignored by Cuse fans, but not the RU staff

So, the end result ? He got off to a decent start for you, but his faults became apparent where he now has transferred once, and fallen off the depth chart elsewhere

It doesn't matter how many top recruits Syracuse gets, it is all very temporary. Either Brown flames out as a coach and will loose recruits very quickly or if he turns out to be a good coach, he will leave for a blue blood program in a few years. Just look at Deion Sanders. Came out swinging with a bunch of top recruits, lost a bunch of games and now is hemorrhaging recruits. And Sanders had more of a track record coming into Colorado.

A springboard to what? The B12? I’d rather play a schedule that at least presents opportunities to win big games (especially at home) and finish middle of the pack than play to be the tallest midget. I pull for FSU because that’s the wife’s school and I learned first hand this year that winning the ACC undefeated has now become just that. I don’t care how good a recruiter Brown is, I don’t see him amassing the level of talent FSU had across the board this year while he’s at Syracuse, especially focusing primarily on “Jersey kids.”

Miami is their toughest game next year. They are probably the 6th toughest game on our schedule this year.

Do you guys realize that the constant responses to the money guy and mockery of Syracuse makes us look really small time? The same way that thread that is on their board will not die. I never think of Syracuse, except when we play them.

Some interest in Syracuse was warranted with Nunzio as the interim HC and then Fran Brown getting hired as head coach, but other than that, who cares? Fran has a magnetic personality with recruits, and he will get recruits that Rutgers is recruiting, and he may even flip recruits. Time will tell if he ultimately succeeds. If he does, good for him, and I doubt he would choose to stay there for the long term.

You guys can do what you want, but please, consider letting this thread and all the other ones die and ignore the Syracuse trolls--you are giving money his jollies.

Yeah man. Like every great football player runs a 4.3 40. Ignoring other intangibles of the CB position is wild. rutgers fans were acting like Cuse hasn’t been putting DB’s in the league..

SU got what they needed out of Duce. 1st year starter freshman all American and HM all conference in 2 years of play. There’s 5/4 star DB’s that don’t start their first year. You guys were straight trashing Duce because he chose SU. You also let the NJ gatorade player of the year go to Cuse. You wouldn’t have had to over pay monangai if you had a RB like LaQuint in your RB room

Stanford degree. Tops just about any school. And any school in P5 , no?
Northwestern, Duke, Michigan most likely the 3 closet to them
Though, when you travel the world or are outside of the NE- for some reason- people just assume Rutgers is Ivy...just saying

stop lying mister spare change 😀

I said Elijah was never a DC on his own after you bragged about how good a DC hire he was.
As for the Buffalo U DC hire, I said that his experience as a DC for a year would help.
Blunting your claim that Robinson was experienced enough that he could do the job on his own
Put the Bull's D ranking in to show how good the guy did in his first year ( 2023) as a DC
Guess Brown though Wright was more right than Robinson to trust running the D
As for the OC hire, never was a permanent OC so stop whining about being corrected about your lack of knowledge being pointed out.
here try to learn something before whining about the BS you spread being disinfected
As a coach:
as for RU fans replying to you , correcting what trolls say is a hobby of many of the TKR members here

Those are excellent schools, probably top 20. Stanford top 3, maybe tops ( at least tech ).

Listen, there is no doubt that Fran can recruit. Anyone who can recruit talent to a crappy place like Syracuse within a few weeks of being hired has real recruiting talent. Now if he can show that he can coach, then within 2 years he will become a hot commodity for a big time program. Syracuse will loose him quickly and then all of his recruits will follow him as well. Syracuse is nothing more than another Jackson State.

You guys mention weather and city environment like it matters to me or these 18 year old kids. I dont live in Syracuse. Insulting the city doesnt bother me. lol

I dont know what he's gonna do as a HC. Im not a hot take or predictions guy.

Honestly, unless he plays QB no one gives a shit. I think you guys care about this stuff more than we do. Twenty years ago it may have mattered to Rutgers when it was trying to pull itself above an FCS-level type program with zero notoriety or juice. No matter what you think of the brand or how much winning or lack there of there is behind it, it now exists. And it resides in the best collegiate athletic/academic conference in America. In 2003 it did not exist at all..

You admitted you hope Syracuse gets better at Rutgers expense. No idea why that’s important to you. You should be hoping it’s at PIT/BC/FSU/Clemson’s expense as that’s who you have to go head to head against. But hey, if you want to chase the ghost of G-Rob replacing Pasqualoni and “Shady” taking advantage of it at that point in time to elevate RU football, enjoy yourself. It just seems pointless to us as it’s not going back to the 1990’s for RU no matter how badly you want it to.

I guess Dino wasn’t such a bad recruiter that you guys made him out to be. He didn’t recruit as much in NJ but recruited significantly out of Florida. Didn’t he also get the Giant QB from Jersey?

He was not a good recruiter. He got a few nice pick-ups, but a lot of guys with no other P-5 offers. He wasn't a very high energy guy on the recruiting front, at all.

Not sure why the acrimony.

Syracuse, used to be the better football program, but Rutgers is now.

The brown hire may be a shot in the arm and he will need to prove it as a CEO.

Not sure why both programs can’t succeed and Northeast football be the better for it. There’s plenty of players for both programs

it just may mean that BC Pitt, Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois, etc. may get less players. Both ru and cuse seek.
