OT: 2024 CFB TV ratings

Ditching ACC and Big12 Games and putting SEC ones back to back was a goldmine for ESPN. No need for the SEC faithful to even change channels. Big12 and ACC got screwed, but it made sense from ESPN's perspective.

Also goes to show how much SEC fans watch other SEC games. I have been mostly watching Big 10 games myself.

No CBS info was included for the last two weeks. Thought Week 13 numbers would eventually be updated after the initial posting like that site did earlier in the year. But hasn’t happened.

You had mentioned the guy from that site possibly ending this. Maybe he’s had enough and not going to bother going back and adding.

we will finish the year with more eyeballs than last year and that's without the big 3

great job really

Need some perspective, though..

I think this is largely because last year, we had 8 BTN games, 1 on peacock and 3 on national tv. (2 on cbs and one on fs1)

The year we had only 3 on BTN, 1 on ACC, 1 on peacock, and 7 on national tv. (4 on FS1, 2 on Fox, 1 on NBC).

Just this change of tv networks would almost always equal an increase of viewership. Can’t really compare to last year….compared to other teams this year..not terrible, but certainly not great. Our ratings certainly can improve

CBS no longer uses neilsen hence the numbers weren’t available the last few weeks

are you kidding
this year we didn't play 3 of the top eyeball related programs and had more games out of better time slots and worse channels (fs1 is notoriously bad for CFB)

there is no comparison to the quality of opponents, time slot, channel with last year

we did great

Yes. We had games in better slots, as I said. That’s a huge reason we had more eyeballs this year..which is obviously great.

But the slots we had..compared to other weeks.m in those same slots..nothing great. Again, not bad. But certainly room for improvement.

I think part of it is the Friday night window vs Saturday but it’s also another example of more interest because real stakes are on the line.

ACC was at same time as Big 10.

I suspect Big 10 was between 10-12M...

Now that the Pac12 Championship does not exist, the ACC Champ should be on Friday.....

definitely not buying that as that is almost double last years' highest team and while numbers were up for the SEC, they were not up that much to make it 8mm
With some quick summing in my head, it appears that 8.6M number corresponds to the 9 games listed for UGA on those tables.

Did not compare to see what games weren’t included and would not have expected 3 of their games on the SEC Network which isn’t included in Neilson numbers.

They are probably including the SEC championship... They played many top SEC teams... Many saw the GT game as well...

Lame that ACC and B10 run at the same time

that is literally double their numbers last year. Now ESPN was brilliant keeping back to back matchups to boost numbers but total for the season to equal 8mm avg? No way their out of conference is included in that. something not adding up

Just looked..... The 8M seems right.... Georgia wasn't on for 5 weeks ... Assuming 2 byes.
2-3 Games on non rated Networks maybe

Just doing a quick on Ohio State , if you remove the B10/FS1 tOSU, they averaged 7-7.5. That was quick so might be 6.5-8.0. But likely around 7.2M

espn scheduling was brilliant. let's hope Fox and company learn from this as the content is there

Paywall but for the comments and an excerpt:

The SEC and Netflix have teamed up with a behind-the-scenes look at the 2024 football season, featuring 10 of the conference’s 16 schools, including Tennessee on its way to a College Football Playoff berth.

The series is produced by the same company that produced other Netflix sports projects, including “Full Swing,” which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the PGA Tour, and “Formula 1: Drive to Survive.” Netflix said it will air next summer in eight 45-minute episodes.

The participating schools are Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, a source briefed on the show’s details said.

The production was reported by The Athletic in early June, with neither side confirming because a deal wasn’t done. Netflix went forward after securing agreements with more than half of the conference’s schools.

All 16 SEC schools were given the option to participate, said SEC spokesman Herb Vincent, who indicated the series could go beyond this year.

In a release, Netflix said the series “places viewers inside some of college football’s most storied programs in the SEC through unfiltered access to their coaches and players on and off the field: on the buses, in the locker rooms, at the barbershops, around the fire pits, running out of the tunnels, and more.”

There was initially some reluctance from SEC teams, concerned about giving an outside network too much access, sources around the conference have said. But there was also some worry that if the SEC balked, Netflix would go to the Big Ten, and ultimately the conference and majority of schools were attracted to the chance to advertise their programs in a different way.
