We had to win. OMG remix coming out tomorrow with pitbull!
Random thoughts:
1. Marte asserting himself offensively is mxke to see. Had some big hits in the series.
2. I couldn’t believe they were sending Peterson out there for the 9th, but he delivered!
3. Aren’t you glad we got the last seed and are headed for Philly? Easy commute and a guaranteed Mets contingent in Philly.

I’m so friggen happy. Incredible.

Steve cohen was in the clubhouse for the 9th inning. Keep that man away from the on deck circle. Team was tight for 8 innings then loosened up and executed.

So damn fun. This team

Besides my kids and grandchild being born - and my wedding - and the Mets winning in 86 - I have never been so happy and proud to be a Mets fan !

Monday and Thursday are like dreams !

This doesn’t happen to us !
Have you forgotten how happy you were to get that 6th win and Pinstripe Bowl invite last year ? You shed a gallon of happy tears, rembember ? Schiano’s success outshines everything NYM ever, ain’t that right BEP ?

Good list. I will add a few others which I remember from games which I attended:

Benny Agbayani walk-off against Giants in 2000 NLDS.

Mike Piazza 3 run HR to cap off a nine run 8th inning, Mets beat Braves 11-8. That was also in 2000.

Asdrubal Cabrera bat flip HR in September 2016.

Gary Carter HR in extra innings to win the season opener in 1985 in his first game as a Met. I remember rushing home from school to see the end of the game and watching that happen.

I know where are in euphoria over tonight but it has to asked. Who starts game 1? Severino pitched Tuesday, Manea Wednesday and CQ tonight. Severino on 3 days rest? Bring back Megill? Could Peterson after pitching an inning tonight? I know they'll have Wheeler, Sanchez and Nola all lined up and ready to go.

Never happier to be so wrong. Was pissed they had two hits going into the 9th.

One of the many reasons why I love this team………….

Winker
Marte
Peterson
Butto ( yes he gave up the 2 runs but remember we don’t make the playoffs without him)
Iggy
Taylor
Acuna

I am sure there are others. Who would have thought these players along with our bigs ( Lindor, Pete, Nimmo) would have gotten us this far with very important games to go? Not me

No Piazza post 9/11 shot in the top 5? That to me will always be number one.

Maybe Senga as an opener? If Senga does make the roster, I believe that is how he will be used, so that he can follow his normal warmup routine.

Yankees-Royals should be playing tonight.
Mets-Phillies should have had the Saturday 7 pm start.
Wildcard sweeps contingency😊
Yeah for some reason MLB doesn't do that. The schedules are fixed in advance, regardless of how long or short the preceding series go.

Unlike the NBA, which develops its schedules on the fly, based on the preceding results.

Not smart.
MLB has great match ups they should have taken advantage of.

Pete Alonso first home run in MLB history to win or take the lead in the 9th inning of a win or go home Postseason game.

I watched the game from 3 different tvs, 2 different couches, 2 different shirts, and i think i finally found my spot in the 8th/9th.

Alonso is my 7 year olds favorite player. He's got the signed picture framed on his wall. The fat head poster on his wall. He's got 3 different Alonso jerseys. I let him watch his last at bat in the 7th and said to him this might be the last time you see him bat as a NY Met. He was upset. I could not wait to wake him up and show him everything... Pete the hero. He slept in his black Alonso jersey.

You have to be in the top tier of the most miserable human beings to post on this board!

I heard it described slightly differently. It was the first time someone hit a HR in the 9th inning of a winner-take-all game that pushed the team from LOSING to LEADING. Guys have hit HRs in the 9th to take the lead in a winner take all game before, but not when trailing at the time. That is an amazing statistic.

Another insane stat I saw on MLB after the game:

Mets' record when Lindor score: 67-20
Mets' record when Lindor does not score: 18-50

Game one against Wheeler is a top matchup. On the other hand... Wheeler is 1-4 in his last seven starts against the Mets, including losing to them on September 22nd, the only time he faced the Mets this season. If you can steal game one against their ace, the whole series pivots to a huge edge for the Mets. Current Mets are batting .281 against Wheeler lifetime.

Iglesias 5-12 .417
Taylor 2-6 .333
Vientos 2-6 .333
Acuna 1-3 .333 (talk about your small sample size!)
Marte 7-23 .304
Nimmo 13-44 .295
Alonso 10-34 .294
Lindor 8-28 .276

Only three current Mets have faced Wheeler and not gotten a hit:
Winker 0-10 (no Ks, oddly)
Alvarez 0-2
David Peterson! 0-2

The Mets lineup should have some confidence that they can hit Wheeler. If you take out Winker and Peterson's numbers, the other Mets are a combined 48-159 (.302) against him.

Woke up and the main feeling is being happy for Pete that he stepped up in that spot.

Made me take a trip down memory lane. I had a very good 3 years in Little League - batted 4th thru most of that time, but simply could never hit the darn ball over the fence and it really weighed on me. Long story short, I came up in the Williamsport All Star tourney my last year, bottom 6, 1 guy on, 2 out, down 2 - last Little League AB ever if I failed - and crushed the first pitch to dead center to tie the score, and we won in extras.

I will never forget that AB ever for the rest of my life and I'm sure the Polar Bear will feel the same.

Trumper - So you’re saying it’s been done in games that were tied at the time. Took Shelby a while to decipher your post.

Piazza post 911 homer needs to be somewhere on that list.
