Question: How do you determine who makes the Honorable Mention list?
No real guidelines except for my personal preference. Mix of players with some buzz/doing well, high bonus players from previous years (INTL & Draft), players drafted relatively high recently, and who were ranked in previous years but maybe have fallen off. Always can add anyone if anyone has suggestions.

I've left off a lot of players who might be a tad older for the league they're in but who can eventually break in as bench players or pen arms. Just some of these players like Ritter, Rudick, Jordan, Schwartz, Peroza, Cortes, Wilkin Ramos and others.

Can the Mets call this guy up?

BTW, the angry squirrel is angry at the plate.

Up 3-0, to down 4-3 in a blink. This team is just bad.

Narvaez whiffs trying to backhand an outside pitch. Runner moves to 2B, basehit, lead gone.

Start scouting farm systems extensively.

How many players on the Mets are untradeable ? Alvarez / Senga

Or better yet - which Mets player can actually snag a valued farm player? Not many. Alonso / Diaz

He’s essentially the same age as Baty and Vientos, so they are then busts too. Christian Scott’s the same age with a 4.32 ERA. So he’s going to be just serviceable I guess.
Have Baty & Vientos had posters commenting on their performance for 4 1/2 years? Kelenic has gotten yearly colonoscopies on this board.

I was at Lakewood watching The Shore Conference Final between Southern Reg. HS and CBA. Very good game with CBA winning 1-0. CBA didn't pitch their ace who's going to Wake Forest holding him for Fridays game at Brookdale for the Monmouth County Final against RBC because of pitch count rules. We got to see a little of Southern's ace the last 2 innings who's going to Binghamton University. A parent was explaining to me several people were wondering why he didn't wait to see if bigger programs would come after him. When he visited he was blown away by the complex. An anonymous gift of 60 million was donated. Has Rutgers ever gotten a gift that large from anyone? https://www.binghamton.edu/baseball-complex/index.html

I know what you mean, but just to clarify - very few Mets are untouchable - players whom the Mets WON'T trade. Not to be confused with players whom the Mets CAN'T trade - at least not without eating a shit ton of salary. We have a bunch of those.

Nice debuts from Kade Morris and Willy Fanas at their new levels.

FWIW, which could be absolutely nothing, here are David Peterson's rehab stats: 19.2 innings, 1 run, 2 walks, 29 strikeouts, 0.712 WHIP, 0.46 ERA.

Peterson is eligible to come off the IL on Wednesday. Might that be the last we see of Hauser?

At this point, how do Mets fans define "good."

1. Winning the division (obviously not)
2. Wild card spot (possible still)
3. Finishing in 3rd and ahead of Washington and the Marlins (probably goes with 2?)

Any word on when Senga returns?
Senga is not returning anytime soon. He is not currently throwing. Mets website says "Possibly June".

Triceps inflammation for Senga so he got a cortisone shot. Will re-examine in 3-5 days. The one positive is his innings limit will be lower so he can't opt out after 2025.

I guess that's a positive unless his arm is going and he ultimately needs surgery. Can the Mets drop him then?
Nope. Senga has a five year guaranteed contract, with a player opt-out after three years if he pitches 400 innings.

Interestingly, if he has Tommy John surgery, then the Mets get a club option for a sixth year.

I don't like criticizing managers. But this was a head scratcher.

For the benefit of those who thankfully missed it. Mets lead 6-2 Top 8, Garrett pitching. He gives up two cheap hits, retires the next two, but then gives up a ringing double in the gap. So now it's 6-3, two out, runners on second and third. Hefner comes out to the mound, Ottavino up in the pen.

Garrett walks the next batter to load the bases. I am sure everyone in the park, including Garrett, expects Mendoza to come get him. He does not. Three pitches later, it's 7-6 the wrong way.

I mean, why do you warm Ottavino up, if you are not going to bring him in?

I hate everything about the Mets this season. But was Otto going to close since Díaz came in the 7th? (Which I was ok with btw). Maybe he was just trying to make it to 9th for Otto

Fair enough. But then why is Ottavino warming up in the eighth, if you aren't going to use him then?

Other than 2 years ago, I have disliked most Mets teams from the past 5 years. This year’s team is by far the worst.

Also sucks the two 3rd baseman have no speed. Baty or Vientos had any speed would have beaten out the play.
