I blame McNeil. You’re a major leaguer and ex batting champ. Advance the damn runner somehow !Pathetic AB by McNeil in the 9th with 1st and 2nd no out. Looked like he had absolutely no idea how to sacrifice so it was ridiculous to ask him to do it.
Yeah I don't like the chances after this stretch. Maybe they'll surprise me.Garbage effort vs a team full of minor leaguers
Mets could be 7 out by Howard
Orioles padres diamondbacks next 10
The bunt, if successful, takes the bat out of the hands of your TWO hottest hitters since the break.Pathetic by McNeil. Worst part for me was pulling the bat back on the most buntable pitch of the at-bat. With that said I'm not sure about the strategy because if he gets it down they walk Lindor and then you have a hitter who is having a solid year but is still young and inexperienced in Vientos. As well as a double play candidate.
With just a runner on second, that is a fair request of a lefty batter. But with first and second, that is MUCH easier said than done. Unless you want to advance the runner at the cost of two outs, which I assume you do not.I blame McNeil. You’re a major leaguer and ex batting champ. Advance the damn runner somehow !
The ironic thing is that he is quite good at the running drag bunt for a hit. He just can't square around and sacrifice, which is supposedly easier. We’ve seen this from McNeil before - man just can’t bunt. Calling for it to begin with was bad enough, but to keep it on after the first effort was ridiculous.
Thanks for posting this. I had thought the Mets games would no longer be on 880 AM and on Audacy. When in the car, the 880 AM signal is weak, and the FM signal is also weak. Glad to see this:Mets radio broadcasts after August 26th? https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/wcbs-880-radio-ending-whsq-starting/
The Braves have really been snake bit this season, yet the Mets can't seem to pass them. Now Austin Riley is out for the regular season for the Braves. Broken hand on a HBP yesterday.
What the Mets have gotten out of Peterson this season is nothing short of fantastic.I hate to say it but our pitching staff scares me in the 4th inning.,,
All it took was for me to open my mouth! Next pitch Alvarez wins it!!!! Yea babyMets bats have been garbage tonight. Especially against the bullpen. Bottom 8, 3,4,5 batters coming up and all three struck out. Gross

As do the Mets. Danny Young might be the only one who doesn't hit the mid 90's. Dedniel Nunez will bring another one soon. Butto doesn't hit the upper 90's but he has been nothing short of excellent.Seems like every team except the Mets have multiple flame throwers in their bullpens.

Stearns continues to overhaul the team’s scouting department. Good. It’s been pretty clear for a while that the Mets scouting has been, in the least, underwhelming.August 15 Mets Farm Report (Top 30 Prospects per MLB Pipeline)

Lou, that ball was never going anywhere but in the stands. He swatted it.I kept watching the replay and to me, it looked like he did step on the edge of the plate. But it doesn't hurt to make sure.
Alvarez had a crazy personality during the at bat. Did you see him shaking his head after the third pitch missed? He was really jacked up. Then when he hit the 4th pitch, he started celebrating rather than run the bases. It all worked out, but man, it would have been brutal if the wind knocked it down and hit the wall for a long single. But I guess these guys are all millionaires and showboaters. There are no Don Drysdales to keep them in check.
not sure of what his original signing bonus may have been but Alvarez is making just north of 700k...just sayingI kept watching the replay and to me, it looked like he did step on the edge of the plate. But it doesn't hurt to make sure.

I think in that situation it is fine. He could probably tell as soon as he made contact that the game was over and it was a walk-off. Many guys would have reacted the same way. We loved it when RHJ did virtually the same thing out at IU.not sure of what his original signing bonus may have been but Alvarez is making just north of 700k...just saying
That ball could have been hit in a hurricane and it was going out. I don't like showboating myself but there was never any doubt. I am the type that agree with the Walter Payton's of the world who used to say to act like your done it before.
Also, I think it is much more in the opponents face if you just put your head down, run the bases and ignore them completely.
Neither is everyone in the Baltimore pen. The point is that the Mets have multiple relievers who can throw 95 or above unlike what was claimed. And even Ottavino reaches 95 at times.Maton and Ottavino are not flamethrowers.
Francisco Alvarez is not a millionaire, at least not on his pre-arbitration minimum salary.I kept watching the replay and to me, it looked like he did step on the edge of the plate. But it doesn't hurt to make sure.
