OT: 2024 NY Yankees Season Thread

Or that Boone was right in trusting in Leiter. Frankly, I didn't know he was even on the roster.
They literally called him up yesterday on league special approval to replace Hamilton after his injury.

Would be great if they finish them off tonight. The entire pitching staff could use some rest. They have done a great job except for the end of game 3.
Stanton has been great at the plate. I took a nap during his home run trot😂 I actually laughed out loud when he tried to chest bump one of Yankees after he scored. I don't think his feet left the ground. Lol

You people are crazy if you think Rizzo is having a bad series. He's hitting .455 for god's sake. That 8th inning play wasn't on him either. It was a difficult play and he got handcuffed by a throw. It happens.

One of the biggest flaws on this team is the reliance on young, cheap arms for the bullpen. This is due to the payroll being so top heavy when it comes to Judge/Soto/Cole. They spend 300 million dollars but have to cut somewhere. They need someone to develop or to go get a true innings eater pitcher to supplement Cole for this to work for 180+ games. We're lucky we've been able to get to Clase, who's the best reliever in baseball.

Anyway, there was no hangover from the drama of Game 3, we're one game away from going back to the World Series in forever. Let's go!

I'm guessing the lefty/righty thing.

Soto - L
Judge - R
Wells - L
Stanton - R
So stupid ass analytics. Walk Judge because Wells is an easy out. Does Stanton have problems with righties? LOL.

Fire Cashman!

Rizzo redeemed himself with that hit in the 9th otherwise his fielding gaffe was Buckner Part II. If Yanks lost because of that blunder you would see it replayed for eternity as a turning point in the series. He’s also showing his age when he gets terrible late breaks on those doubles Cleveland was crushing. Tough plays for sure but 5 years ago he snags those.

Analytics are used differently by every team. Everyone uses different data. So they all use it but it's not the same. The biggest flaws the Yankees use is strikeouts are equal as all other outs. Second is they use a much older data then other teams. Matchups that happens over a season ago aren't used by many teams. Yankees also don't Boone to use his intuition. Everything is planned out by the geeks Cashman uses. None of them played baseball at any level.
Agree- seems the Yankees are all out analytic or nothing.
I wonder if that experience as bench coach under Boone/Cashman made Mendoza so much more manage by his gut over on the other side.
He still does analytics but during the game, manages it. Even if he makes mistakes.
Something tells me if Boone went somewhere else, he may be better. He has been around this game his whole life

Makes it worse. No thought or logic. No brainer for Stanton to bat 4th and protect Judge. D'uh.

Why does Judge need protection since you said he's a bum? Maybe they should bat Stanton lead off since you wanted to get rid of Torres? Wait....didn't you want to get rid of Stanton too? You have us all confused. Sounds like you want the entire FO fired and half the team cut in the middle of being 3-1 in the ALCS?

If you could have only one choice between firing Cashman and Winning the World Series this year but having to keep Cashman for another 5 years....what would you choose?

Gotta make lemonade with lemons for the rest of the season.
Torres = gone after the season
Stanton = one bad sneeze from an injury (would be gone if the Yanks could dump him)
Seriously, dump every position player except Soto, Judge, and I guess Volpe.

My answer = always take a title, but Cashman's analytics are absolute garbage (the Yanks would win in spite of them).

Overcame an awful lot of mistakes to win the series.

Think about the guff Rojas would have caught for sending Gleyber in the 1st inning!

Are the Yanks actually good or just beneficiaries of an awful AL this season? Probably doesn't matter, but we will learn more against the Dodgers.

A few observations:
- The Yankees bullpen outpitched Cleveland's, who was a strength coming into the series.
- Stanton may have been very mediocre this season, but he earned his entire annual paycheck in these four games.
- They have to do whatever it takes to sign Soto to a long term deal. They can put two generational talents back to back in the lineup and this postseason has shown what that can do.

To me...having Baltimore and Houston getting knocked out early really helped.

Those were the two teams that worried me.
The AL Central is always dogshit.

They just won the AL pennant and you're wondering if they're actually good ?

i dont watch a ton of baseball but I watched most of the games this series and was shocked how many errors/mistakes were made on plays that you learn at the little league level. Stuff like Trevino getting picked off or Rizzo fumbling the toss. There were so many blunders by both teams.

He used to just troll the Mets threads.... guess he got bored and is now purposely trolling the thread of the team he supposedly loves. Either that or has become so entitled as a fan he now will never be happy. Sorry, but a few others in this thread appear the same. 15 years between Pennants and the first reaction is "we suck".

As for me, big smile on my face last night - took the edge off after watching the game today against UCLA. Son called me from his apartment at RU after the final catch. Great to bond with my kids over sports! Go Yanks!! Hopefully RU Basketball this season as well!!

Congratulations to the Yankees. Most of the year they have been a very fun watch except that slump that seemed to last forever but Baltimore was doing the same. Sometimes we just look at the flaws but if you actually watched all of baseball this season, every single team has major flaws. Not one team got 100 wins. Every team struggled at some point.
The people at FOX is on their knees praying for the Dodgers. The 2000 World Series (Subway Series) had the lowest TV ratings ever! The rest of the country didn't care.
Stanton has been amazing at the plate (still can't run).
Volpe has 9 hits and 8 walks, batting .310
Cleveland's defense was terrible.
LET'S GO YANKEES, clap, clap, clapclapclap 👏!

If you have watched this team over the past 15 years, it’s crystal clear the damage Cashman and his pathetic analytics have done. This WS is in spite of that moron (and with a little luck as mentioned above).

Thrilled for many of the players. Praying for Hal to do the right thing with Soto. And yes, to fire Cashman.
