OT: 2024 NY Yankees Season Thread

He used to just troll the Mets threads.... guess he got bored and is now purposely trolling the thread of the team he supposedly loves. Either that or has become so entitled as a fan he now will never be happy. Sorry, but a few others in this thread appear the same. 15 years between Pennants and the first reaction is "we suck".

As for me, big smile on my face last night - took the edge off after watching the game today against UCLA. Son called me from his apartment at RU after the final catch. Great to bond with my kids over sports! Go Yanks!! Hopefully RU Basketball this season as well!!
Guy had lots of very bad takes for sure.

Cashman isn't going anywhere. Last night guaranteed that.
Sad if true. The best franchises in baseball have already moved on from letting analytics run the show. It's an important tool, but playing ball comes first. Cashman was late to adopt analytics, missed the curve on that, and is now too late in finding that new balance. He is always behind the curve and reacting to others.

Even Judge called his ass out last off-season. Cashman has f'ed up countless prospects and young players. It's shocking how little the Yanks have gotten out of their farm system as compared to other teams.

I'm afraid you're correct.
Signing Soto is a must.

For most of the season, I was ragging on Gleyber. But man, since August, he's looked like a different guy.
Now I hope they can keep him.

It's called motivation, knowing his NYY career was about to come to an end due to poor/lazy play. Still wouldn't trust him moving forward. We have all seen the past 5-6 years (regular and post). Time to upgrade.

Think American leaque is weak this year. Dodgers are very tough.
In 2,430 interleague in 2024 games the NL won 48 more games. Not a big percentage difference.
Dodgers are a good team no doubt but as I said above every teams has flaws. Theirs is starting pitching plus Freeman is playing while being injured.

What I remember is. when Gleyber started with the Yanks he was playing 2nd base. Did very good and was well liked. But was moved to
short stop, a total disaster. The Yanks kept him
there much to long. His play became poor, including hitting. Now he has gotten his stuff
together. I always liked him, but some people
on this board went crazy on him. Good luck
to him, I hope he stays, he has brought us a good way to the World Series.

During the regular season Cleveland's pitching staff had the #3 ERA in MLB at 3.61.
The Yankees were #7 at 3.74
The Dodgers were #13 at 3.90
The Mets were #15 at 3.96.
And we all know how important pitching is in baseball....especially in the playoffs.
Unfortunately Cleveland's pitching wasn't as Clase during the AL championship series.

He's played well in the playoffs and generally since he's been moved back to leadoff. But for most of the season he's been a .230 hitter who seemed disinterested and lacking in hustle, led 2nd basemen in errors, and probably also in bonehead plays. He had almost no power or speed this year. The Yankees have at least two minor league infielders who will get a shot in Spring ball at filling the 2nd base spot. It's time for a change of scenery for Gleyber.

The Yankee starting lineup had at least six players hitting less than .250 for most of the season.

Truth.
Time to move on and upgrade. He was given plenty of opportunities.

If you have watched this team over the past 15 years, it’s crystal clear the damage Cashman and his pathetic analytics have done. This WS is in spite of that moron (and with a little luck as mentioned above).

Thrilled for many of the players. Praying for Hal to do the right thing with Soto. And yes, to fire Cashman.

The Yanks won the DS and the. The ACLS and will start the WS on Friday and all along the way all you keep posting about over and over again shouting to anyone who will listen is to fire the GM and get rid of most of the players. Just shows that the obsessive bitterness and hate in you towards Cashman is stronger than your Yankee fandom.......and btw....I don't even like Cashman, but there is a time and place.

Overcame an awful lot of mistakes to win the series.

Think about the guff Rojas would have caught for sending Gleyber in the 1st inning!
That was the right call on that play. It took a perfect throw from the infielder to get him.

When you're ahead by a few games and on the road, you can afford to take a chance like that, IMO.

The Yankees current 2025 payroll is projected to be 219 million. Assuming that Soto gets Ohtani money, the Yankees would have to give him 50-70 million a year. Would Boras let Soto defer money? I doubt it. Anyway, if the Yankees are able to resign Soto, you can't really resign many others. You're gonna have to rely on youth or retreads to fill in the blanks. Probably look for a 2b or 3b and put Chisholm in the other spot. The Martian will be a big part of next year's plan.

They can also buyout Rizzo for more flexibility. Lou Trevino has an option too with no buyout. So expect them to be gone.

A normal functioning team would rely on prospects and young players to balance costs............but..........you know why the Yanks can't do this. Perhaps the organization should stop trying to change swings for exit velo and launch angles. LOL!

Yes. And we can start addressing that issue by not resigning one of them...Gleyber. As I said earlier, the Yankees have at least two minor league prospects who have given every reason to believe they might be an upgrade next season at 2nd base.
Perhaps Cashman can also work on upgrading the other positions currently manned by weak-hitting players. May I suggest left field too.

That loud woooosh you heard before midnight was the giant sigh of relief from everyone at FOX Sports!! Lol. Truly a national World Series with two organizations that have been around for over 120 years!
The last time they met was 1981. The Dodgers won and George Steinbrenner got into a fight on the elevator at the hotel in L.A. 🥊

Disagree. With no outs and the heart of the order coming up I find it hard to justify the risk of making the first out at home there.

So true.
Just as most predicted pre-season.
Vegas didn't think so. They got the Dodgers right (+350), next Atlanta Braves (+450) followed by the cheaters Houston Astros (+800) and finally the NY Yankees (+900)

I think the Series comes down to how good is Dodger pitching. We know they've got a bunch of quality hitters.
I haven't seen many Dodger games this season.

Who is going to outslug another, pitching shaky on both sides, WE need Judge to hit like Stanton did against Cleveland. Soto is an animal, he will be productive for 700 million reasons.

What? He already has a ring. The rest of the team doesn't. Maybe root for them.
Not a Yankee fan. A Cub fan. Rizzo will always be one of my all-time favorites and he may be one of yours if you win. The guy did hit over 400 against the Guardians with a couple of broken fingers.

Obviously not a Yankees fan.

Cole got hit hard in the 1st. Them two long fly balls had me nervous. Every batter seemed to get good wood on the ball
