OT: NY Yankees 2025 Season Thread

As in seasons past, Yankees need about 7-9 starters to complete a season. Gil out 4-6 weeks so Marcus Stroman gets his shot. Talk of trading him should fall off.

Sorry about DJ but it looked like he was heading to a defensive replacment role on this team anyway. Peraza and Cabrera will complete for the job. The silver lining is that they may have a little more success with the offensive production than DJ.

Hopefully Stroman can keep his head on straight.

He seems like a mental midget.
This entire team is weak mentally. Doesn't matter much in the regular season, but it's a massive problem in October.

If I'm mgmt, I determine the worst team in MLB, pay the entire salary, and ship Stroman to that team.

He wouldn't be in this situation if he presented the approach that he cares for anyone but himself.

Screw him.
He's already in the rotation

Yankees are praying that George Lombard Jr. can develop his bat enough to eventually be the starting third baseman. He's a superior fielder who has adjusted well to playing that position. He just needs to bat to come around. He's only 19, so I can see a series of one year guys in our near future until he gets the chance.

What’s wrong with baseball players? Are there any other athletes that get a paper-cut and are out for 3-4 weeks? These injuries and the length of recovery are absurd.
Who are you complaining about? If it's Gil than you don't know what you are talking about.

Starting pitching doesn't seem to be a liability. Gil could be back in June.
I'm liking the bullpen.
Now if Judge can just get some help with the offense...it could be an interesting season.

Sounds like Cole's news is not good when he's looking for 2nd opinions and saying, "there's still some hope".

JFC.

Sounds like they're actually considering Warren in the new rotation. Based on last season's few starts, yikes.

Now...Cole also wants to opt out of balance of contract.

I think this shows that the Yankees knew that his elbow was gonna blow at some point and refused to give in to Cole's demands. Obviously a good play right now. They also took out an insurance contract on Cole to recoup lost salary.

I think the Yankees will give Warren a shot. If he flops or there's another injury, they'll probably sign someone.

That cheapskate Hal could have signed Burnes.

It would be nice if Warren could improve like Schmidt.

Jeez. I get there are 160+ games but it's hard to get excited with the most recent news.

In a perfect world Hal and Cash make a big time trade for an Arraez or Cease (or one of each). Goldy has question marks, DJ is bleh, will they actually play some youngins and let them prove themselves? Or are we going to be forced to watch Trent Grisham? hmmm

What would they likely have to give up to get him ?

I imagine the Marlins would want younger guys / prospects on controllable salaries. They might have to give up Dominguez plus another upper prospect to bring in any type of top line pitcher. I would probably do it. Another rumor is bringing back King.

It also sounds like they will be sending Warren down because he has options and seeing how Carrasco does.

Yes, not a good outing for him today. Probably sealed the deal.
They also lose Carrasco if he's not a major league roster soon. I doubt they can take the chance on losing the only depth piece that have currently. I don't watch spring training stats that closely so I didn't know he got shelled.

Warren was awful last year when given starts.
Yet there seems to be lots of praise for how he's looked this Spring. I haven't seen it.
