OT: Breed and name of your dog

Rescue dog mutt who looks like a Lab and has Border Collie and German Sheppard mixed in. Her name is Sandy because her coat appearance resembles wet sand at the beach. She was found when she and her siblings were near death in a plastic bag in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Best dog ever. She herds my grandsons (both 1) when outside, preventing them from leaving the yard. She is 115.5 pounds and not fat, but the vet wants her to lose about 7 pounds.

Yellow lab/golden retriever mix named bear. 10 years old.

I will be absolutely devastated when my buddy goes. I love him that much.

Husky-Akita mix, rescue dogs, brothers, 3 years old.. Scarlet and Knight.. tremendous athletes.. their wrestling moves are outstanding. This photo is of the laziest playing possible. They fall on the ground, roll on their backs and nip at eachother.

5 year old Brussels Griffon/Terrier mix named Harley. Quirky personality, great with kids but not so much with other dogs especially larger breeds. Often gets attacked for some reason.

Had a Coton De Tulear named Skyler for years, but he passed away fairly early at age 9. Great dog but not the healthiest.

Hoping to stick with larger dogs from here on out as I have never had that experience. Toy breeds are nice but I envy those dog owners who can go to the park and throw around the frisbee with their pup.

We have a chocolate Lab named Coco, she is the absolute best. My word how they become part of your family.
She loves chasing birds, squirrels and of course cats.
sweetest dog ever, she'll tear you apart with her tongue.

3 year old schnoodle (1/2 schnauzer, 1/2 poodle). Named him Napoleon. Trust me when I say that the name fits. Little dictator bastard :). Best dog ever. Love him to pieces. But he is a dominating little shit. Super with people (once he stops barking and realizes that they're OK) but not so great with other dogs. Never socialized him properly with other dogs.

Also a great fetcher. His favorite thing to do is to play fetch with the tennis ball or to play fetch with a little kickball. I kick the ball and he runs it down. Lots of fun for the whole family.

Because he's only 20lbs, he's a certified lap dog. Loves to snuggle in your lap (when he's not outside running like a maniac) and he sleeps in bed with my wife and me. Very social dog who needs a lot of playtime and running but is also great to just sit-down and relax with.

Trust me, no matter what size they are they are all lap dogs. Scarlet is 140lbs and faithfully believe she is a lap dog

We have a new 2 year old rescue dachshund named Henry(already named), whom we got in April. Our previous dachshund was named Stretch, who died at 71/2 in October when I was in Columbus for the OSU game. That was not a good day.

Good ole, looks like my 2 playing, they do it all the time and especially with the legs they lay down like that after climbing over each other and continue. 4 yr old Husky/Gray hound rescue Abby and a 2 yr old yellow lab Dusty

Coco the dog almost died 6 months ago from canine mumps, passed on to her from interaction with NJ Devil hockey players during the NHL mump epidemic...that's what the Vet said

Thanks, 4Real. Really tough loss. The rascal would bring in rabbits and hares way bigger than him (and he was 14 pounds -- all muscle). Not much of a snuggler but friendly around people. Just wanted to spend about 20 hours of every 24 out hunting.

That lab/beagle mix looked pretty cool!

Gorgeous cat.

Thanks, Screw!

And Piscataway! What a great looking dog!

Thanks SkilletHead2. We found her wondering the neighborhood one morning as we were driving the kids to school. My wife was driving and I jumped out as she was almost hit by another car (we live very close to Rt 1 and I was afraid she would be toast). I got out of the car and she jumped right in. No tags, no chip. Someone took her for a ride and let her go. I understand why....

She is a great girl and great watchdog.

Catahoula Leopard Dog. Cassie. Rescue we got in Carteret by way of West Virginia.

Some infections can jump species. http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/infectious-parasitic/c_dg_mumps As if the Devils didn't have a bad enough season!

Canine influenza hit the Great Lakes region this past winter and spring forcing the closure of dog parks on a temporary basis.
