OT: Chapman to Yanks??!!

Walker was really bad before he got hurt. He started out hot and then was epically bad. He is not on Castros level.

As far as not being able to throw money at it. I agree to a certain extent which is why we have built a top 3 farm system with guys projected for the bigs in 2018. Maybe you missed all the young studs we have.

However, I wish I could save your post for the 2018 free agency season when we sign 3 or four studs to go with our young guys. Let's see how you feel about not being able to throw money at it then.

Walker batted about 440 the month before he got hurt with 7 homers.

No you're not screwed with your pitching this year..again well see if they stay healthy and if Harvey remembers how to pitch. You're screwed in two years if you haven't won anything, your players leave, and your farm system is dogshit (it's already at that level and two drafts with middle of the road picks won't change that). We don't have to win it all this year. We are young and we have a plan. When we do make a run though, well have plenty of control because we have the prospects to move for more pieces. See how this works? You're all in for the next two years and you better pray you win it all. After that, you'll be terrible.
The mets have most of these guys under contract for 3 years and they will resign most and if they don't they'll trade them .... Mets are far from screwed

You know how many young studs we've heard about over the years who didn't pan out, remember when lastings milledge and Fernando Martinez were gonna be traded for manny Ramirez and were supposed to be the future and became nothing. And Walker waa great before he got hurt I don't think you watch the mets

So basically you'll trade the guys you need to win now in order to raise your farm back to barely average. Again..if you don't win in the next two years you're screwed.

lol you're rly complaining about your division before the season even starts. Wow you play in the al east. Only the Red Sox have won the World Series from your division in the last 23 years, (besides the Yankees) meanwhile over that same quarter century the mets have had 3 teams win in it there division, Braves, Phillies and Marlins twice. Over the last 25 years both the mets and Yankees division mates have won 4 World Series, you sound like a delusional cry baby no one complains about the schedule in baseball, just beat the teams from your division you big baby, wow you've had 3 good teams in your division the last 3 years so what, happened to the mets too, you're not worthy of a World Series or saying your team is great if you can't finish top 3 in your own division.
HOW DARE YOU to recite the last 25 years of history. Only Yankee fans are allowed to use history in arguments when they talk about 1986 or 27.

It's amazing us Mets fans will continue to support and justify the Wilpons, even as they continue to stick plungers in us every time they get. Its amazing that Yankee fans continue to say they are a dominant organization even though SF, STL, Boston, Miami, have won more than the Yankees have (and Mets as well but we know the Mets are run by sewer plumbers). Jeezus, can't we get till spring training before acting like school children??? lol

What are you talking about? Walker beat Castro in OPS by 90 points. Or if you prefer OPS+ Walker 118 to 93 which is a pretty massive difference. Walker is a better player than Castro.

So the stats lie cus I'm a mets fan? U sound like trump, things aren't true if they u don't agree with them even if there facts. Kbtrump!!

Don't you dare put me in the same category with that orange-faced, lying piece of crap.
Unlike that douche I can actually remember which leg it was that was injured enough to keep me from going to Viet Nam.

You're doing it to yourself with your facts don't matter drivel ! Only the Donald could try to deny facts like you're doing

^^^ mets fan

I'm also right. In what way is Castro better than Walker?

Actually, I never said Castro was better than Walker.
But I just checked and they're pretty much the same player.
Castro: .276 BA.....21 homers...70 RBIs.....63 runs
Walker: .280 BA.....23 homers...62 RBIs.....57 runs

My point was to let everyone know who the mets fans are. It's been my experience that mets fans are kinda jealous of the Yankees and thus never give ANY Yankees their due.

I never give Yankees any due? REALLY?

They're not the same player. OPS by 90 pts would tell you that. OPS+ by 25, WAR by 1.2.
One is clearly better than the other.

I have no problem giving the Yankees their due. They have a nice prospect at 1b, got tons more from Didi than anyone expected, have a STUD catcher, a prospect in RF and a fantastic bullpen. They're lacking at 3b and in the starting rotation. I liked their signing of Holliday, minimal risk with decent upside.

Even the most optimistic fan must realize there is no way you're resigning "most" of your young pitchers. Thor is a 30 million dollar a year pitcher and the rest are in the 20's. The Mets are not going to be a team that carries around 100 million dollars in starting pitching payroll. Trading 1 or 2 is the only way left for the Mets to actually build up an offense that can win a World Series, IMO.

Listen, I have no idea what OPS or WAR are...nor do I give a crap what they are. But I DO know that when two players play the same position and have virtually the same batting average for the season, plus the same amount of home runs, rbi's, and runs scored....they're pretty much the same player. And I think the Yankees guy is only 26 years old.

He's not a 30 million dollar per year pitcher rn sorry....

WAR is wins above replacement aka litterally how many more wins you would contribute and walkers score is higher than Castros. We clearly see who knows nothing about baseball in this thread, ops is on base plus slugging, and I've known that since I was in elementary school, you're just like trump don't have the knowledge and don't care about the facts that don't suit your interest, sad !!!!

How would you rank the Mets pitchers based upon potential then? I'm curious. Assume everyone stays healthy until free agency. Based on raw talent, I see no way he's not a 30 million dollar a year pitcher. That's what the market will pay a person of his talent years from now, IMO.

Good that you admit that you don't know how to evaluate players.

It doesn't even matter what Castro is..he's a placeholder while we train mateo

No shit walkers war is higher..you are paying him 17.5 million this year. We are paying Castro 9 mil. I would hope for your sake it's higher. is that worth it for the minimal difference? I'm sure you will claim it is.

Listen, douche. The idea that someone could claim that two players having the same batting average, the same amount of home runs, rbis, and runs scored did not have virtually the same season and thus are virtually the same player is just plain stupid.
I've got your wins above replacement right here.

Oh so now u care about money when it comes to the mets but with the Yankees you can pay every player huge contracts and it's all worth it !

We are comparing two similar players. Who the hell do you compare to Chapman? He is elite..potential hall of fame elite. There is nobody in baseball I would compare his fastball to. Feel free to compare familia to him though. That'll be a laugh. We have a laser guided rocket launcher at the end of our bullpen. The amount of teams that can say that can be counted on one hand.

Lmao a healthy wade Davis, and Andrew Miller are 2, nice he has a good fastball but you don't need the best fastball ever to still be highly effective

Yes that's why I said you could count the number on one hand..for your edification, there are 5 fingers on one hand. Useful information for your future. That said, Chapman's fastball is still ahead of both.

Can't believe you're actually trying to take away from what one of, if not the best, closers in the game. Batters fear him.

Zap He is a G Maddox ..A pitching genius. I am always fascinated by the guys like Colon who throw that back up fastball or cutter or back up slider or whatever you want to call it that rides back over the plate on the lefties .Almost unhittable. Who was the toughest guy you ever faced ?Lefty and righty?

where did you say you could count the number on one hand in your prior post.... you didn't say that, maybe you should read what you say, rather than just let it spew out. And okay hitters fear familia too i wouldn't give him 17 million a year either, not even 15 especially not for 5 years, no one has knocked chapman as a player, just the money and length of the contract.

Walker has been better than Castro for his career. Keep using old stats and embrace your ignorance.

Walker's a better fielder, too.

Add another 1,000 or so days now:

Oh wait.....Castro played in 38 more games than Walker. Is that a plus or a minus ? Does the fact that he didn't need replacement a good thing or a bad thing ?
And who was his replacement ?

Castro is 26.....Walker is 32.
Watch out when Starlin starts learning the strike zone a little better.
