Wow. Read the WHOLE article. The loaf board.

Darius' father, Keith:
“He said, ‘Dad, I’ve got to get something off my chest. I’ve got to tell you something,” Keith recalled.

“Then he said, ‘I couldn’t be more excited about these coaches. I feel like I’m learning so much.’ He was playing a trick on me for about five seconds, but I was like, ‘Wow.’ It got me back to that football mode. I had tears in my eyes when he was talking.”
-----
Darius:
“They are demanding us to be great by any means necessary,” Hamilton said. “It’s really bringing out the best in us as players. It’s a really exciting environment to be around right now.

“People will say it’s a coaching change and anybody would be excited the first couple weeks, but I think this is a trend that is going to stay around for a long time. Kids are excited to compete.”
“If there is a player who needs to be talked to – especially on the defensive side of the ball – who do you think I go to?” Ash said.

“I’m going to Darius and saying, ‘I need your help.’ He says, ‘I’ve got you, coach,’ and he gets it done. I really appreciate that. Not everybody is willing to do that so quickly with a new coaching staff they don’t necessarily know, and he’s done that for us.”

I think Ash will ultimately be the BEST hire out of all coaching changes this year. It helps that you have Darius back for one more year. I'm not sure there is another player in the locker room that commands the amount of respect that he does. They are a great fit together

Coaches are coaching and the players are demonstrating a great attitude. Odrick and Joseph looked much bigger when they participated in the basketball "shows" which occurred during stops in play. There has already been a significant physical impact. Hopefully it translates to the field this September.

I mean really what's he going to say 'ash and the staff stink , I want flood back ' ?
I expect a big year out of Darius , because he's a great talent and he was good under the previous regime . But this article doesn't say much .

Ford was really a KF transfer, he was already pretty much gone by the time CA got here. having said that there could be some fallout after spring practice and at this point that might not necessarily be a bad thing just a natural re-ordering.

it would be surprising if all the QBs in the spring run through the new system, then see the new depth chart develop and someone doesn't decide they have to go elsewhere if they want to play.

It's not meant to s$$t on any post . It's meant to ask really ,what is Darius going to say otherwise?

We all know what it is. It's a honeymoon period. But why not drink the cool aid for now. There will be plenty of time to do otherwise later.

He could have said a million politically correct things instead of gushing about the new staff for paragraphs.

I guess that is true . But he gushed about the new coach and staff . I think this is kinda common . Players like seabrooks gushed about schiano when he took over . Hell , I am sure some players even gushed about flood when he took over . All the gushing doesn't mean anything.

He doesn't sound like a guy that is saying the right things to the media....He sounds like a player that has bought in fully to the new staff...When your most respected player buys in, it makes it a lot easier for the rest of the team to buy in also...

A great coach confides in and relies on his players to find out what's going on in the locker-room.
To think of a player as a rat when he expresses concern or warns the coach of what's happening away from the field is to be ignorant about what needs to take place on a real team.

You're really running with glass half empty on that one.

He could have just said something like "Coach Ash seems pretty cool. I think he's got us headed in the right direction."

Now contrast that with what he actually said.

The skepticism is understandable though. We're a jaded bunch. I suppose it's part of our charm.

Agreed . Who thinks of a player as a rat ? I didn't see that in this thread . Of course a coach relies on his leaders in the locker room.

"I'm just really happy to be here, hope I can help the ballclub. Ya gotta play 'em one game at a time and the Good Lord willing, things will work out."

Darius is a solid kid and does seem to always say the right thing. He was a key to bringing together our best recruiting class ever under Schiano / Flood. When Schiano bolted, he was a key to saying the class will only stick if Flood is hired. When Flood was on the hot seat last year he said he was coming back but hinted it was only if Flood stays. He is a loyal guy and loves Rutgers. He is no Prima Donna. I respect this kid immensely because it would be so easy to just point fingers like so many weak people do. It is only the strong people like Darius who can help get things done the right way.

The better news just might be that Darius seems to be over his injury and is participating in all the workouts. A healthy Darius is an important part of this defense.

Hey putz, change your handle to Prune Street.

The sentiment of the board seems to be "move on" so I will not bring up the old regime.
But I will say, there were plenty of posters last year who when the question was raised how did Flood not have a clue what was going on within his team...posters responded with players Do Not rat each other out.
That is far from the truth when the staff makes it a priority to communicate with the players and most importantly the team leaders.

He could have said plenty, that would not have said what he did say, or he could have just said nothing at all. Think what you want but it looks things are changing in a very good way Plum and you should be thrilled!

I just wish the players were on top of the ridiculous situations that occurred last year. Someone dropped the ball.. starting of course with the offenders.. coaches and the team leaders need to stay on top of such things.

I will be thrilled when he put a beat down on Washington . Until then we are just plugging away on the message board.
