As things stand, Tesla has a four-year backlog on Cybertrucks - assuming Tesla builds ~250K/year. Feel free to question the assumptions, but I'm pretty confident the demand will be there for the Cybertruck to be a success.
Just out of curiosity, seeing as how we don't know how much the CT is going to cost, or how it will look and feel inside, or what its range will be, and seeing as what Tesla has is deposits, not actual sales, and seeing as how we don't have any way to validate the assumption that Tesla will build that many per year, how exactly are you arriving at the "4-year backlog" figure? As things stand, Tesla has a four-year backlog on Cybertrucks - assuming Tesla builds ~250K/year. A man of discernment. Can't disagree. All kidding aside, listing those four is a great response. It's funny, accurate, and highly relevant to the point I've been trying to make since the early days of this thread. I think it might well be the smartest and best post in this entire thread. Seriously.
Now you are arguing against yourself. I brought up Canada to show that you can’t trust Troy Teslike on Twitter. I’m thinking about taking out a short position. But seems like a lot of analysts already beat me too it calling it overbought. Like I said, my original point is that Tesla is as American as Honda.Oh boy. Canada isn't part of US.
But ok, finally got your point. Lol...you think flocks of Americans are going to Canada to buy RWD Model Ys made in China??? I can see why your losing sleep over this. Very troubling.
There's a reason Tesla is exporting this variant to Canada. Don't stay up too late figuring it out.
Did you take out another short position on TSLA, and get burned again? I think that's the real reason you have a hair up your ass about the very benign, non-controversial cars.com article.
in 2022, nearly 2 million full size pickup trucks were sold. Will be interesting to see how many of those truck buyers will pivot to EV pickups. As things stand, Tesla has a four-year backlog on Cybertrucks - assuming Tesla builds ~250K/year. This is the right way to go.And here we go again.

States weigh charging by the mile as fuel taxes plummet

Could it be tax on MPGe?
Correct, but after reading up on VMT its very difficult to come up with a fair way to charge and collect it. This article is from 3 years ago and is very interesting.More likely a VMT tax.
How does this sound. I'm about to hit 5000 miles on my PHEV which is rated 142 MPGe.This is the right way to go.

Who Will Pay for the Roads?
With the highway trust fund and gas tax revenue declining, one option to address road funding issues is a vehicle miles traveled VMT tax.taxfoundation.org
I like the mileage tax better. (since I don't drive much). I'm now thinking that mileage from the vehicle can be accessed similar to how they access my Gas and Electric usage. No one ever reads the meters any more. All done thru wifi.I should have noted that taxing could also be done through annual registration fees.
The # of vehicles exported from Shanghai to Canada is irrelevant to this discussion. You insisted Shanghai makes a majority of Tesla's fleet, which is wrong. Now you are arguing against yourself. Oh? How much do Wall street analysts pay Troy Teslike? As for Troy, there's a reason Wall St analysts pay him for early access to his production/delivery estimates.
Mileage makes the most sense and is the most fair because more miles puts more wear and tear on the roads, regardless of what's powering the vehicle.I like the mileage tax better. Right, but now the ICE age people are saying that EV's weigh more than ICE vehicles so they should pay more. That's BS. Lot more trucks and heavier ICE vehicles out there. ICE Chevy Suburban is heavier than Chevy Bolt.Mileage makes the most sense and is the most fair because more miles puts more wear and tear on the roads, regardless of what's powering the vehicle.
Maybe but has to be done in a way that doesn’t risk tracking where or when the miles were accumulated, which is a privacy problem and SCOTUS would kill it. Also, not sure how to do that and only capture miles from in state.Mileage makes the most sense and is the most fair because more miles puts more wear and tear on the roads, regardless of what's powering the vehicle.

Lies. It’s only the legacy/ICE automakers that can’t deliver what they promised."However, we learned last summer from Tesla CEO Elon Musk that the $40K Cybertruck won't happen, due to inflation."
Unrealistic pricing from Ford, Chevy and Tesla in view of inflation.

Yeah, yeah. Still creating enemies to fight, I see.

More and more evidence that this might not be that crazy of a take, especially for treatment resistant depression.Elon also tweeted that ketamine was the best treatment for anxiety and depression, so...
Elmo is kind of an idiot.

And maybe Bronco Raptor for all that heavy snow we’ve been getting in NJ. 😀
The Teslas are the stats kings, at least for reasonably priced cars. But IMO they need to do some style refreshing across the entire model lineup soon. And the whole spartan interior thing ain't working for me, although I guess that's somewhat of a theme for EVs, perhaps owing to the desire to make up for the weight of the batteries.I continue to enjoy my Mazda. As far as I'm concerned, nobody should ever spend the money on a Q3 or X1 because the CX30 Turbo is better in every category than both of them.
To be fair to the Teslarati, C&D did note in their presentation that the entry field is limited to *new* models and Tesla didn't have one to offer because they've been building the same cars for like 10 years.
Saw one on the road today. Nice looking vehicle.Car & Driver names the Hyundai Ioniq 6 as their EV of the Year.
