Been hearing more and more about ibogaine and its incredible success rate in treating vets with PTSD as well as those who suffer from addiction. This podcast really does a good job of explaining how Texas is trying to legalize it and bring much needed treatment to our vets. As of now they have to go to Mexico to get it. One treatment seems to do the trick and cure the problems associated with PTSD and addiction both physically and spiritually. It’s almost too good to be true but in any of the first hand accounts I’ve heard it’s the real deal. It’s a long listen but it’s cold outside so if you know someone dealing with these issues, pass it on.

I don't have the time to listen - do they also go into psilocybin (shrooms!) for PTSD. Not well-versed on the reasons why, but think the FDA has not been in favor of such "natural" remedies. There are other issues, but evidence is there for at least psilocybin and perhaps what you listed.

“One treatment cures the problems associated with addiction and PTSD both physically and spiritually”- I seriously doubt this, particularly in cases where people are addicted to narcotics and have a physical dependence

A read of the literature shows that treatment with psilocybin has a substantial amount of data in support. I can only find one phase II study with ibogaine. Lots of subjective reports, however.

So I can tell you first hand some of the things you can discover about yourself and grant you perspective coming out from psilocybin are 100% accurate. It’s a trip you are going on, make no mistake, where that trip takes you will offer you a view of the world and life that you did not know was possible (LSD achieves the same thing)

I go back once a year with a group of my best friends while we are on our annual golf trip and 100% the things you can discover about yourself and the reasons why are completely real. And you definitely have the ability to change behavior while you’re in there. Physical addiction and PTSD after one treatment of anything though? Color me skeptical

So all of these first hand accounts are fake? Listen to Shawn Ryan on his first hand accounts with it. Every story i have heard or read was all based on 1 treatment

Stanford also did a study on it,

they did not discuss shrooms but i've heard similiar stories. I haven't done shrooms since the 80s but I know a few folks who microdose them on occasion and as yesir attests to, really open up your vision of life and self

IIRC, you have a medical background?
A lot of MDs, at least anectdotally, support treatment with psilocybin. What do you think will be required to gain FDA approval (if not already approved). Had a long discussion with someon who is studying to be a PA about this topic.

I work in the field and am very excited for some of these developments. Traditional treatments for PTSD work but compliance with them is very difficult for subsets of people. I think Ibogaine is further off than MdMA and psilocybin. It’s pretty easy to conceptualize how these work. Addressing trauma understandably triggers someone’s fight or flight response and makes trauma therapy difficult. Using these medications helps ease that response and allows the therapy to work. I believe there were some technical issues with the mdma trials, hopefully they get them cleaned up and approved sooner rather than later.

Ever see a movie, documentary etc that the network logo is flashed on screen at the moment of peak drama?
That is done because the mind is most susceptible to impressions when it is emotionalized, stressed etc.
PTSD is related to that mechanism and is essentially a hypnosis based disorder

Hypnotists know they can access the subconscious when a subject's controlling, judgement factors are suspended.
Shock a person and they can have their link to conscious awareness ruptured - allowing impressions under the intellect.
Those impressions can take control of thought and feelings - make people re-experience things they don't want.

Those are flashbacks and they are resurfacing to burn-off but as people keep overreacting to them they reinforce.
Many studies show "trauma counseling" can make people worse because it has people refocus on things that need defocusing.
Concentration also has hypnotic aspects

This group (run by former military) has done a lot for PTSD sufferers

So I just reached out to one of my best friends and former teammate who is a Doctor now for the University of Maryland medical system with a specialty on psychology. Per him it’s a hype drug that causes murmurs, heart issues and does not mix well with other drugs/pharmaceuticals.

For the love of god though if we’ve learned anything since Covid it’s to not take medical advice from Joe Rogan

if you listened to the podcast you would know they are aware of the heart issues which is why they say it has to be done by competent professionals. Actually Joe Rogan turned out to be the correct one in regards to the covid BS and Ivermectin.

I was gonna say- exercise, eat healthy, get sunlight and be suspicious of needing a “vaccine” for something you already have natural immunity to ended up being some of the best advice out there.

I am skeptical. Many of the people with PTSD have MORE than PTSD. They can be bi polar, borderline personalty disorder, PTSD, sleep disorder, OCD and on.

Another issue is many people with any of the above problems dont think they have ANY problems. They dont want treatment and you cant force them to get treatment. If they dont want treatment and you try to get them treatment they look at you as an enemy and they can get violent.

of course there are always outliers, but as of now we have no real way to treat it other than medicating them. If it helps any of them why wouldn't we want to do that? same with those who suffer from addiction. There are many who would refuse help but definitely some who would gladly accept. The number of vets committing suicide each day is not acceptable.

I’m gonna trust the word of my friend who is a PHD in the field over Joe Rogan every time man.

Respectfully no one should take anything Rogan says as legitimate health advice over a health care professional. But if you wanna jump on the hype train for some Mexican drug that is proven to cause heart issues while you buy into your conspiracy horsesh*t about Covid….

Gotta stop listening to Q homie

I’m not interested in discussing your conspiracies Q.

I really enjoyed this podcast.
He was very adamant about not ordering this online for self administration. He gave clear warnings on what can happen. Doctor administered at clinic. He doesn’t want anyone running to the Amazon to find a Shaman. Lol

Hey I think you should start going to Dr Joe Rogan then. In fact screw the healthcare system, screw those doctors, a comedian with a podcast knows better!

Idiots

And I'll take Shawn Ryan's first-hand, life-changing experience with Ibogaine over your buddy with all the letters after his name

Keep your mind open. Be a more curious human. Thats all

Legitimate question, have you have done shrooms? Even once have you done them? How bout Acid?

Please don’t try to tell me about realms and what is possible.

Ibogaine sounds like an insane trip that could have potential positive mental benefits, but at the expense of murmurs and heart issues after just one use? Oh no.. no no no.

And I’m just gonna say for a guy who’s scared of a shot most of the world has at this point I genuinely could care less of whatever anecdotal example Rogan want to bring out.

I’ll trust the letters and education behind the names over Rogan every time yeah, I’d recommend you do the same

Way to not answer the question.

Yes please tell Me how a google search and conversation by your favorite podcast host should be taken seriously by my friend who has about 12 years of school and still works as a Dr in a university hospital that has continuous research.

You know better bud, of course you do

The fact that you buy into hypnosis is probably the least surprising thing I could have read.

Absolutely fascinating that a group of posters who are scared to get the vaccine most of the world has bc of some unfounded potential health issues they’re convinced it has, but meanwhile are open minded to a Mexican street drug that’s been PROVEN to cause Murmurs and lingering heart issues…. All because Joe Rogan talked about it.

We’re so F’d. Ya’ll are some of the most impressionable people I’ve ever seen talking about subjects you have no clue about.

That or a whole hell of a lot of you are gonna die off in your late 50’s and 60’s because you know better than to trust western medicine and would rather take the Aaron Rogers approach to medicine

Idiots, truly idiots

It has no impact on me who thinks its good or bad, just throwing it out there as it appears its moving forward as a treatment option. Like most treatments its not for everyone, just like the covid shot wasn't needed by everyone. But if you are on the verge of suicide or your life is a mess due to addiction, the trade off for potential heart murmers doesnt seem so bad.
You seem to be very angry over this topic which makes no sense at all.

Does it make me angry when people make a mockery of the healthcare system and all the sudden people start listening to the healthcare advice of unqualified people like Joe Rogan because they like his podcast? I wouldn’t say angry but I’m gonna call out how STUPID that is every time. If it makes someone feel dumb to the point that they avoid it, GOOD!

Again this coming from probably the most experienced person on this board as far as psychodelics and their effects are concerned.

Heart Murmurs=BAD my guy, FROM ONE USE! oh no, F*CK no! We don’t go around sensationalizing this. it’s not that complicated

you do realize Joe Rogan is just the show host, he barely spoke during the entire podcast. It obviously has to go through some sort of clinical trial and be tested. No one, including the guest on the show is telling people to start taking psychedelics they buy off the street to cure their problems. As someone who works in the vaccine industry I am also aware that mother nature has provided us with some pretty incredible things and maybe we should start taking a more serious look at them.

I’m cool with going to Europe for experimental treatments, but not Mexico. Like everything in life. if it sounds too good to be true, then it is.

This is very true. Mental health issues are an interconnected spectrum from MDD to SZ and all those other things in between (bipolar, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, agitation, etc.). There are many common links voa certain chemicals in the body like dopamine and serotonin.

There are some amazing treatments available, but they all work differently with different people.

And even what mother nature provides, it still likely needs to be refined, developed, and produced in a sustainable way in order to have use for the broad population.

I’m sure when you were going through treatments with your son, the doctor quoted studies in Europe. Never hear one quote research from Mexico.
I'm the (possible) patient in this case. ☹️

And I was just considering the drug part of this we've been talking about.
