No big shock.

Announced on his show today that he and Fox are ending their relationship. Last simulcast will be Friday.

He said it's his fault and his alone. Admitted the money they threw at him was too much to pass up and in retrospect should have taken a second, lower paying offer he had at the time. He said the plans he and Fox had for the show never materialized but didn't say what they were. He also said there are no other simulcast offers on the horizon.

The haters are going to have a field day with this.

Isn't it time for him to retire. He has been mailing it in for years. I actually stopped listening on a regular basis a while ago, hearing him repeat himself over and over again got to be to much.

He actually admitted recently that a reunion of him and Mad Dog had a more than 1% chance of happening.....unfortunately, greed and ego took over for both and neither has been as good since the split. As much as people admit that they don't listen, they owned sports radio before the internet took off and other blogs, podcasts and stuff got added to the market.

Francesa has fallen off in every way imagined in the last 5 years, so much so that I don't think a reunion would save either Mike or Dog at this stage.

Destined for a job as a St Jack's radio color man, or Phil Mushnick caddy, or DWTS.

I agree he isn't good but fallen off?? Still #1 in ratings.
Mad Dog is the one that has fallen off.

But if Sirius/XM throws enough money at him, a reunion with Russo on the Mad Dog Network would be the perfect face-saving landing spot. They could trump it up like some big coup, but in reality, Francesa's ratings are down, and he is sometimes third in the ratings on WFAN. Sirius/XM doesn't release ratings, they are only concerned with content and subscribers. He could be like Howard Stern and claim to have 20 millions listeners like in his heyday, yet by any measure is down to a few hundred thousand diehards at most. But there is no way to prove it other than to look at how few people call in and how small his social media footprint is.

I listen to him during the NFL season. I think his peak is NFL playoff time. After the SB until September I hardly ever tune him in

I know he is not popular especially in these parts, but have always liked him. He can definitielu go off the deep end sometimes but find him the most insightful of all that is out there.

+1 RUblueballs
Show some respect people. Guy is number 1. Day he leaves the fan is the day I throw out my radio.
Mike doesn't need Dog. Mike is crushing it on his own. Can anyone name 1 person that goes at it harder then Mike?

That would be akin to a reunion of Ren and Stimpy.

I've been thinking about who may replace Francesa in the afternoon slot. I think Adam Schein (maybe with a partner) would do well there.

He's not off WFAN, just off FS1 simulcast. They already have a replacement in Colin Cowherd. I'd guess Francesa will end up on MSG some time in the future. I think his contract is up in 2017.

The guy is on for five and a half hours talking about sports. I like sports but I get bored after talking even Rutgers after 15 minutes. He is best at what he does. I hope he does a more general purpose show since he knows a lot about history and politics. I thought that's what he was going to do after Mad Dog left but he decided to stick to sports.

Best post in this thread. People say they hate him but can't stop talking about him and listening to him on the radio.

I don't listen to him a lick. I've never once, not once in my life, turned on the radio to listen to him.

My hatred comes from the people on this board who do listen to that load of puss...then come here and let us know all the insults and putdowns he constantly throws our way.

How any real Rutgers fan can say they like him after he has basically called Rutgers football every mocking insult in the book.....is just beyond me. Have some pride.

I swear, It's like Fatso fans here think they are cool because they like him.

He said Michigan would beat us by 80 and a guy called him up on it when we won. Francesa goes I did not say it. But he did say it.

He lost the national feed of his Sunday NFL show. CBS radio didn't pick it up this year so his Sunday NFL show will be on WFAN only.
On TV yes but he is the biggest syndicated radio sports show on Sunday. The guy brings in big time cash. Love him or hate him he is huge physically and as a money maker

HE LOST THE NATIONAL RADIO SHOW:

MIKE’S OFF

Mike (Sports Pope) Francesa’s Sunday morning NFL sermons on WFAN will not be heard in parishes outside the metropolitan area.

CBS Sports Radio Network did not offer Francesa’s show to its affiliates. The show was offered last season. This season, the CBS Sports Radio affiliates were given the option of picking up Damon Amendolara’s new “Sunday Morning Football” show (9-11 a.m.).

Could this be another round in the feud between CBS and Francesa? Could this be CBS Radio’s way of tweaking the pontiff?

It was back in July when Francesa, following Amendolara reading a “CBS Sports Minute,” ripped the talkie for signing off the commentary using his initials “D.A.” rather than his full name. All the CBS Radio yakkers responded to Francesa’s “advice” by tagging all commentaries with their initials.

Francesa considered this a diss and challenged the CBS mouths to “bring it on.” Francesa continued saying: “Here’s what they should do. They should worry about trying to figure out how to get the network going in the right way.”

Some posters are borderline homosexual in their Francesa adulation.

No judgment, but keep the graphic stuff behind closed doors.

Is there a new PC word to describe love between two men? Pretty sure it's still homosexual.

Calling for someone else to get banned is kinda kindergarten-ish, especially after just getting back yourself. I wasn't talking about you anyway.

Lloyd Bentsen would say to him:"You're no Bill Mazer".

Even Bill wouldn't have Michigan beating us by 80.

Now that Fox Sports 1 has gone "all in" with Colin Cowherd newly died hair...The Herd's Infotainment Sports Show is now FS1's baby as they have given him everything including a new kitchen sink (new studio, as many employees as he wants, picked the color of his new hair, etc...).

Fox is all about LA...LA LA Land...and that's where the Herd has landed.
