OT - Francesca and Fox parting ways

Francessa was good..But his time has long passed...that simple..

When WFAN fails to renew his contract that's when his time will have passed. I understand that his ratings are still very good. Much greater than that of Michael Kay on ESPN in the same time slot in NY.

That would be akin to a reunion of Ren and Stimpy.
Now I can get behind that.

I think he is great on the radio. The guy KNOWS PRO football. I love that he cuts off and shames guys who call up and don't know what they are talking about.

So he hates RU. He's a Jonny. Whatever. Get over it.

Mikes On Mikes On! Listening to Francesca's Football Sunday in the Parking Lot at a Jets Tailgate is tradition. His voice booms over the lot as everyone listens.

Francesa is an insufferable windbag and front-runner. Pro football -- he is good and in his element. College sports is just the opposite -- he's all talk and embarrassing to listen to. Shamelessly he never does his homework on many topics. Francesa is lucky he has Evans and Benigno to make him sound like he's a genius.

He's knowledgeable about sports he actually pays attention to like NFL, MLB, horseracing. Everything else including college football/basketball he's on the periphery and doesn't really focus any more on it than the pedestrian fan so really won't add any insight.

I stopped listening regularly a long time ago and it's waned ever since to pretty much non existent now except when it's brought up here or I think something RU related might come up.

The best part of the TV feed was watching him fall asleep or spill crap all over himself. I'm definitely going to miss seeing those moments.

Now I'm going to guess if his heavy breathing is weight related or just narcolepsy.

Joe and Evan might actually be the worst radio show that has ever been put on air.

It's like someone thought, "we already have this idiot know nothing, might as well pair him up with his even less knowledgeable raving lunatic uncle"

Bro.... We get it.... They like the Mets bro

I don't listen to him a lick. I've never once, not once in my life, turned on the radio to listen to him.

My hatred comes from the people on this board who do listen to that load of puss...then come here and let us know all the insults and putdowns he constantly throws our way.

How any real Rutgers fan can say they like him after he has basically called Rutgers football every mocking insult in the book.....is just beyond me. Have some pride.

I swear, It's like Fatso fans here think they are cool because they like him.

You guys make me laugh. There is a difference between liking him and him being the best at what he does. He puts down Rutgers and I get mad. But just because he has a different opinion doesn't mean I need to stop listening to him. What would be the point of listening to someone talk if they shared all the same opinions are me about everything. You say you have never listened to him once, but then go on to say how much you hate him. I hope you give people in real life more of a chance then that.

Love him or hate him, most of the sports talk format, tv and radio come from the success that they had together. I am not an apologist or even a big fan of his. But think he deserves the respect. I would enjoy any kind of reunion with Russo. I just think its hilarious that people have to hate him because he has a negative opinion of Rutgers. Ever think he plays off that hatred and will keep infuriating the Rutgers Fans to get a rise out of us??

I have heard numerous attempts to discuss RU Football on the air and they are usually poor attempts at discussion....which only fuels his negative attitude.

trust me I never thought it was "cool" to listen to sports talk radio.

Listened to Mike on the way up, first in '88 when he teamed up with Eddie Coleman to do a college football show on Saturday mornings, which I tried to never miss.

Listened to him on and off when hitched with Mad Dog, and rarely when he went it alone.

But I have started to listen more in the last few months, especially with the Mets doing well. I wanted to hear Mike's take on things, because he does have an insight and sees things that are not so obvious to the rest of us. And this afternoon, I heard him say something that I had started to notice: that this team reminds me of the '69 Mets. We are the same age, so when he brings up things like the '69 Mets, or the Rifleman (when he did his NFL picks), it takes me back to a nice place. I do know this: when he does decide to hang them up, we all are going to miss what we had and complained about.

He gets none of my respect. NONE! He lost that when Rutgers invited him to be a coach at our spring game, and afterwards, he went out of his way to say we will never be big time.

If you enjoy hearing that gasbag make fun of us and $hit all over the school I graduated from and love....then go ahead and sing his praises. He's YOUR guy.

I, on the other hand, couldn't care less if that bag of maggots, who doesn't know jack squat about college football, fell off the face of the earth.

It has been said over and over that he has absolutely zero knowledge of college football. Zero, so he gets no credit from me.

At least Joe and Evan will mention Rutgers. I think they even had Flood on a time or two last year.

Has Coach Flood ever asked them if they've ever been to a game at HPSS? Joe is a graduate of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. Not sure if they have a football team. Not sure where Evan went to school. Not sure if Evan has a formal education, based on some of his comments, analysis, and observations. In some ways, Evan reminds me of Chris Childers on XM Radio, who is more enthusiasm and blather than substance.

I don't need Joe and Evan to talk Rutgers. What could they possibly day of value? They are almost completely clueless when it comes to college football.

They only talk about the Mets, who no one, including Mets fans wants to talk about.

I thought him and Dog together were great. Unfortunately when they split they both went down the toilet.
