No outside food or beverage will be permitted.

You must also pass a temperature check and fill out a brief questionnaire.Masks must be worn at the gate, but they say nothing about wearing them once inside.Capacity will be capped at 25 per cent.

Does all of this mean they will allow 10-15 thou at our games if all goes well here?

was planning a roadtrip there. Not sure 2 hours + w/no guarantee of getting in makes too much sense

I heard NO BYOB & BYOF...

First race is at 5pm on friday. Only 6 races. Always thought it would be cool to have a friday evening card so people can hit it up on way down the shore, let the traffic loosen up. I know they dont have lights, but places like delmar have evening races on fridays with a summer concert series afterwards and get a big young crowd with some quality musicians.

Anybody that wants to go will be let in...Whats capacity 80g?...The place is huge ..25% capacity is 20g...They don't even sniff that # unless its Haskell Day.
What is 80g? If you mean 80k your are way off. The largest crowd ever was 60k for American Pharoah. However I think the capacity was set at 45k. So the max will be 11.5k. Which is misleading as the picnic area will be severely restricted as that is where the largest part of the crowd normally sit. People will be forced to occupy seats in the grandstand or in front of it.

This.
Last year Monmouth Park averaged 9000 guests per day.
Not even close to 25% occupancy.
Prohibiting food brought in this season not a wise move in my opinion.
You do understand that they will not be able to fill the picnic area as usual and by rule only 1 in 4 picnic tables can be used? Monmouth Park's attendence is by far the crowd in the picnic area. The average included Friday which is empty.

I love horse racing and MP but let’s be honest... the racing is cheap and chalky. Those that attend for the most part to do so to eat and drink with their family and friends outdoors with some live entertainment in front of them. The horse racing itself is an accessory to the purpose most folks attend live. Everyone crowds the picnic area and the rest of the track is empty because the racing is secondary for most. Can’t see the no food and BYO working very well.

Why can’t you bring food or drink to the picnic area? Hard to have a picnic without
Yea this part of it sucks. I host a large BBQ each year at the track and it looks like its not going to happen this year. Just stinks to lose a tradition. Thanks Covid.

Sitting here in the picnic area. They gave you a temp check on your way in but there was no one counting people.
Happy 4th of July!

Did you have to answer any questions or fill out a questionnaire to enter?
Yes. Have you been sick in the past 2 weeks and you have a cough. Two nurses taking the temps. On person checking pocketbooks. No entrance through the picnic area gate. Had to come in through main gate. There not 25 people in the entire picnic area.

Photos being put up on social media show a very small crowd. MP made a big mistake in totally ignoring fans’ questions about crowd limits and controls. Amazing that in this environment they think they can just blow those questions off.
How is this Monmouth Park fault?? Murphy pulled the rug out from under them less than 24 hours from opening day. They had less 24 hours to change what was already agreed upon by the 25% rule. The blame falls 1000% on Murphy. Stupid comment.

Because whatever the number is, no matter whether it be a high or low one, MP needs to tell the fans what it is. They promised multiple times to give that info to their fans but never came through. MP won’t even respond to questions about whether or not the 2,000 figure reported by the APP is accurate. I know a handful of fans from North Jersey, myself included, who had plans to attend this weekend but changed their minds because we can’t get an answer to a black and white question.
Did you read my post at all? Monmouth Park submitted 2 numbers in May. One based on the 60+ k attendance for the American Pharoah Haskell and the second based on 45k which is closer to the average of a normal Haskell. Both were approved by the racing and gaming commission pending State approval. Then late Thursday afternoon they receive a order to reduce it to 2000. With no comment why. All casinos are all still approved for 2000 plus. Indoors! Monmouth Park wasn't able to give you an answer as the State to this minute has not heard from anyone from Trenton about the last second change. The blame is completely on Trenton as they have not communicated with Monmouth Park since the last second change. Murphy must not realize that how big Monmouth Park is compared to indoor casinos and made up some complete BS on this like closing golf courses. Monmouth Park can not answer your question because nobody in Trenton wants to respond back.

If it is true that MP was told two days ago that the capacity is 2,000 then they are able to answer the question of what the mandated capacity is.

If the figure reported by the APP is wrong then MP is able to respond to fans who are asking.

Murphy’s office is not telling MP that they can’t respond to questions.

MP was stupid to request a capacity of 15,000. If they had submitted a reasonable request it might have been granted.
Wow! You aren't reading my posts at all. They were told at the end of business Thursday. You just want to complain. They were approved a month ago for 2 plans. They spent a lot of money on them. The gaming commission approved them both in early June. Please explain why your dumb ass Gov waited to the last minute to change it and not respond back. I'm guessing Sweeny big paw prints are all over this. For you to blame Monmouth Park on this is just complete nonsense. That fact that nobody will will respond from Trenton is the problem. Did you see the Gov in his Thursday presser announce this?? No. Has there been an official release by the state about this dramatic change?? Obviously you are a Murphy fan. Please explain why casinos can acccept over 2k gamblers INDOORS but Monmouth is limited to 2000 people when they have more land of all AC active property combined with over 85% outdoors.

It does not matter what MP requested or what number they may have had preliminary approval for. Circumstances changed. Restaurants and bars had been told they could open and things changed for them, too. NJ business owners and customers of all kinds can agree or disagree with Murphy’s decisions. I haven’t taken a side in those debates on these boards.

The simple, straight-forward question of the day is - were you approved for 2,000 fans as was reported by the APP in the article in which Dennis Drazin was quoted? Yes or no? If not, what is the correct figure?

There is zero chance that MP was not given a capacity to work with for opening day. It might be temporary. It might be under further discussion. But there is no way in hell that MP was not given a figure before they were allowed to open the gates.
Holy crap you are clueless on on how business work. I mean your rant today blaming MP 100% is 10,000% stupid.I given you facts that they were told at the close of business day Thursday that their approved numbers of around 10.8 k went to 2k. Jeeze

Sounds like MP dropped the ball here.

Murph The Surf is nothing, just another stupid Democrat elected idiot.

He should just go over and join Due Process in Colts Neck with the rest of the Wall Street millionaires. Nice course and you don't have to worry about social distancing.

Approximate the same IQ as CC, just the other political party.

Does Monmouth ever have a close race? Every time I tune in (often) the winner is five lengths clear and second is four ahead of third. Write some different conditions or something

Had a race like that where I was going for the $15 K winning ticket on an exacta. My winning horse was ahead by 20 lengths with a furlong to go. I'm walking up to the window and hear "BANG". Look onto the track and a shower curtain around a horse. Yep it was my winner that broke down in the stretch.
