Really oddball list, but a very good one. It should be a list of movies that you watch every time they play on television. Road House is a terrible movie but a must watch for me. ("Pain don't hurt." )

You nailed it. And I ain't ashamed to be called an oddball!
Your avatar reminded me of couple of others:
Goodfellas
Casino
Blues Brothers

The movies on my original list and these three will almost always be watched if I am not watching football or baseball and they are on TV.

Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Remember the Titans, Godfather, Blazing Saddles

I hope it has the Blues Brothers and the Gods Must be Crazy otherwise it is incomplete :sunglasses:

Awful awful list. Multiple spaghetti westerns but no film noir. Missing films like the Thin Man or the Sound of Music. The Good the Bad and the Ugly is in the top 5 but Citizen Kane can't crack the top 25? C'mon.

Wow, Young Frankenstein at #94, but none of your movies or the ones on my list except The Godfather--How does the Godfather 2 not make it?
Did not recognize 60-70% of the movies on the list.

No Sound of Music is sacrilegious! Tell me Gone with the Wind is on the list...

I agree the spaghetti westerns are way over-rated. But isn't "The Third Man" number 28 (on the single page list) film noir? So is number 40 "Double Indemnity" .. probably others.

Blue Velvet. SLC Punk. This is the End. American Werewolf in London.Breaking Away.Clerks.No Country for Old Men. Fear and Loathing. From Dusk 'Til Dawn.

Yeah I missed a couple of those plus the Maltese falcon.

Here's the kicker...all of those westerns but no True Grit which was John Wayne's only Oscar performance....

FWIW, my favorites include Moby Dick, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest and Young Frankenstein.

He lives. He lives. My creature lives!

Neither one made the list.

And my all-time favorite movie - The Shawshank Redemption - is nowhere to be found.

oops 1975. No "Papillon" nor "Sand Pebbles" nor "Great Escape". No love for McQueen.
Come to think of it, Heston got left off too, "Ten Commandments", "Ben Hur", "Planet of the Apes"

You probably couldn't get two people to agree on a top 100 let alone the order. I haven't seen a dozen or so on the list so I can't comment on those but there are some great ones left out, and my personal list would omit a number they did include. I think the American Academy of Film or some such organization published a list a few years ago that made a bit more sense, at least for me. Good topic for discussion, in any case.

Funny, I frequently play a "what if" game. If you were on a deserted island and could only bring 5 DVD movies with you (assuming you had access to electricity, a DVD player, etc), which would you bring? Remember, these are movies you would have to watch over and over. My picks: The Godfather, Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Wedding Crasher and the 5th always changes for me.

You might get tired of only one comedy in your list so maybe add Airplane or Caddyshack. The Princess Bride is great on repeat.

Didn't recognize most on that list so I could easily knock off half of them. Movies I always enjoyed and weren't mentioned were "Kelly's Heroes", "It's a mad mad mad mad world" and one most never heard, "Cops and Robbers" starring Joe Bologna.

Dirty Dozen, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, and the Fugitive are missing
