Coaching both of those seasons? Mike Norvell, now including 2024. After losing 20-12 at home yesterday to Memphis, FSU is just the second preseason top-10 team since the 1980s to lose its first three games.
Insult to injury: Memphis was the team Norvell left for Florida State, and now the 3-0 Tigers are favored for a 12-team playoff autobid.

Season 1 was understandable - not acceptable, as that's not the standard, but after the dumpster fire Jimbo left us that Willy added on to, people were willing to be patient
This year is completely unacceptable - no excuses, this team is flat out bad. Like, 3/4 wins type bad
I think this is a result of all of the acting like a victim they've been doing. The players see that and these are young players so it influenced them.. you should've been in the playoffs but then you go out there and not try against Georgia (maybe they did try) because it's not worth you trying if it's not the playoffs. Then you complain about being too good for the ACC, the conference is beneath you, then you go out and lose to ga tech and Boston college, now Memphis idk what conference they are in. Then on top of that they bring DJ u who was terrible last time in the ACC to be their starting QB. Idk why he left Oregon State; were they replacing him as the starter? Otherwise he should have stayed, that system seemed to be good for him. Idk Florida states roster but if they have a QB with some wheels, insert him as the starter to shake things up..lol forget about passing for now, need to get some new juice going in that program...
It’s the result of a lot of different things, there was actually an article on a computing message board detailing everything, which obviously I won’t post as that’s not good for business and breaks the decorum rules

- Coaching not up to snuff
- relying too much on portal
- focusing and IL efforts on portal and Recruiting
Short story, if you pay Cam Ward and Jeremiah Smith commensurate with what they were asking, and then some as their preferences were Miami and Ohio State, respectively, and you land them, this is at worst a 2-1 and likely a 3-0 team
Mike simply is not the recruiter that Bobby and Jimbo were, and just like middle relief and free agency in Baseball , you’re not going to strike at Rich in the portal every single year, especially with other programs now, figuring it out and some of them even having general managers
And I need to focus more on recruiting to make up for deficiencies, less on the portal, there needs to be a hard look at the coaching staff in regards to recruiting and player development

You know you’re doing something right (or at least, revalent enough) when people are actively rooting against you
It’s when they stop, don’t care or become indifferent it’ll become cause for concern

One of the commentators on TV said that he thinks the coaching staff should bench a lot of the starters and see if the bench is more interested in playing/winning. If I were on the bench, I would certainly be wondering where I was going to be next season if you don't get to play now.
