OT: How far do you go to catch non- pooper scooper

For those who are dog owners you know that once a dog pees somewhere once the other dogs will want to pee on the same spot. I think it is an instinctive thing to get their scent on top of the other dog's. That is why dogs tend to pee on fire hydrants and street pole signs since other dogs have in the past.

If your dog pees against your tree at the edge of your property it is likely other dogs will want to pee in the same spot.

When I walk my dog I only let him pee / poo in the so called public areas (strip of grass between the street and sidewalk, away from personal lawns, and on street sign poles).

You're quite the tough guy behind that keyboard.

Thank you.
But I don't see what this has to do with toughness.
The actions you described are loathsome.and worthy of contempt.
Just plain disgusting.
Even worse than the guy who flaunts the flag of the slave states in this and other threads.

this could be one of the worst OT threads ever on here.

You would need gallons of dog pee over a long period of time to do damage. Pesticides and leaf blowers do far more damage to the environment. Bunch of folks on this thread need some decaf.

Ignorance. As noted above female dogs can create large yellow circles of ruined lawn.
My neighbor had two female golden retrievers who created quite the pattern on my front lawn. Owner asked me what the problem with my lawn was as she thought I should correct this aesthetic defect for the good of the neighborhood. Talk about clueless.
Her dogs never peed in her yard so she had no idea they were the cause. Clueless and classless.

You should have trapped them in a cage and hauled them off to the pound.

Get over yourself please. Seek counseling for your lawn obsession. And thanks for the name calling. That was a "classy" contribution to the board. Did you read the rest of the conversation in this thread which was generally measured and respectful or did you just read this one post in isolation and jump on me like a douche?

here is a tip... fence in your back yard or get rid of that putrid animal

Nah, the hell strip is made for dog drip.

Does used cooking oil work wonders for your lawn?

Sounds like a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face, then pooping in the nose hole.

no damage at all.... if it were legal i'd use used motor oil... my grandfather used to do that back before illegal dumping/waste disposal.. and he never had a problem.. totally nice lawn

Caught the guy... and it all makes sense. A dog walker was letting my neighbors dogs out and would let them poop on my lawn while smoking a cigg. Double the trouble. anyway problem solved.

I highly recommend these as a fairly low cost wireless solution http://www.arlo.com/en-us/

You and your dog..get off my lawn!
one of the biggest waste of time topics ever posted here.

You are really showing that you are mentaly unstable and need help
My father told me a story that there was a neighbor cat that came around all the time and he couldn't stop him. He finally decided to take it to the other side of town and release him. I knew my father is mentally unstable.

We have people on this thread getting mad about a dog pissing on the lawn and on the sidewalk. Where exactly is the dog supposed to piss? As long as my dog doesn't fire at someone's mailbox, car, etc, my job is done.
I walk my sister dog occasionally and I thought it's ok to have it take a dump or piss where he want to.

Can you explain how this works? What kind of oil do you use? How do you apply it? I.e. Spray bottle? Why is it effective? Is it because the owner wouldn't want his dog oiled up?

So what did you do? Talk to him? Call the police? Eliminate the problems and use them for soil nutrient in the back yard?

Is in my neighborhood. Folks on this board are way anal. So long as you clean up dumps, you're good, afaic. Or if you don't want to clean it, at least have your dog drop in the bushes or something.

Short Version: Once i saw it was my neighbors dogs and not my neighbors who were the ones leading the dogs, i talked to them and showed them the video. They were extremely apologetic and upset with the teenage kid they hired to let the dog out.

Long story: They had their sewer main back up and destroy their second floor bathroom and first floor wood flooring. They've been staying at a hotel while serve pro cleans up the mess and they couldn't locate a decent pet friendly hotel nearby so they hired the guy to take the dogs out regularly. Issue has been resolved ever since i spoke to them, lazy kid has been letting them out in their back yard since.

So basically, if the guy quit smoking, showed some initiative and actually did the job he was supposed to do, none of this would have happened. Smoking cessation + discipline = no poop.

This is a top ten thread for sure.

What's the deal with cooking oil on lawn?
I'm guessing it makes it unappealing for the dog. It may be an old wives tale, but a guy told me he would spread ammonia around his garden to keep skunks and raccoons away.

My association will fine the person if i have proof but i'm going a step further. It will end up all over his property, cars included.

Check the handles on his car.. if it is the lift-up variety.. just tuck some up under the drivers side door.. and make sure it is the walkers car. Saw this done once outside a frat for somoene who blocked a driveway.

Real funny stuff.. but I'm a softee... felt so bad for the middle aged woman who came to her car and felt something.. then smelled her hand looked like she was gonna pass out! Replusive, sad and funny all at the same time. Not sure blocking in a couple cars so you can get to a night class quickly means you should end up with 4 fingers of dog poop.. sad, really.

Oh.. and make sure he and his neighbors don't have cameras too.

We have the same problem. we fenced 3/4 of our yard because we own dogs and like to let them get out and run. The problem is that the fence had to be 10 ft off the road with is a frequently used road for dog walkers. Once the fence went up- these people make a stupid assumption that this is not your property so they act like they dont care if their dog poops, pees or whatever else. including garbage thrown on the lawn as well. A few times we even found landscapers sitting all over our lawn eating lunch and taking naps. It took a while but we started to run outside when we saw someone was about to walk though this area with a dog and stop them and ask why they felt they had a right to even walk their dog on private property much less crap on it. made one guy pick up the crap with a leaf. Their usual response was always "oh, I didnt realize anyone owned this property" my response was- yeah, the town does a great job of maintaining it and I'm glad they even installed a sprinkler system on it.
Bottom line- there are just a lot of people with no fuxing consideration of others property.

i use used corn oil from deep frying... no trick to apply it, just do it evenly... it's effective because, would you want some mangy mutt tracking used cooking oil all over your house? couch, floor, rug, bed, your clothes?.... it's like training people to not be azzholes! [smoke] and because it's all natural, i ain't got shit to worry about!!!!!!! haven't had a dog walker around in years...

i get the concept but dont understand why you would do this to your lawn. Do you not ever walk in it? Do you reapply after every rain? Seems like a lot more trouble than its worth.

Also, how does a random dog owner know yours is the grease lawn. And wouldn't a dog be attracted to the smell of used frying oil. And now that you've detailed this plot on the Internet, couldn't we just let our dogs dump on your lawn, then clean their paws?

Can you imagine living during times of horse drawn carriges?image is of horse manure piled up.

the outer strip and 2-5 feet is where i cover... only time i walk on those parts is if i have to grease 'em up... and i have old shoes for that

Cooking oil is going to attract vermin and dogs might eat the dirt and get torsion. WTF dude.
hence why you have to keep really scag crappy cooking oil... like REALLY old poopie around.... won't smell too bad, until ur dog drags it all over the place[smoke]
