OT:LET'S GO METS

I'm by no means counting my chickens because I know Kershaw tonight will be no Brett Anderson but I saw a poll asking who you'd rather face in the NLCS St. Louis or Chicago? My answer would be Chicago because that would flip home field to the Mets. And I don't think they have quite as much pitching depth either.
Agreed for those two reasons specifically. They have a better lineup than the Mets do, but the pitching depth is not comparable. And we'd get home field because the Mets won the division and they entered via wild card.

The most important thing is that the Mets close it out tonight at home.

Mets 0-7 against Cubs this season, but last time Mets faced Cubs was July 2, and they have gotten better.
Mets 3-4 against Cards this season.
Mets were 0-6 against Pirates this season.

Like you said the Mets last played them July 2nd. Totally different team from then.

So are you saying that the Mets wont be a contender next year? A contending team does not trade a guy like Harvey in July and the Mets will be contenders.

I didn't say that at all.

I'm saying if you are going to trade him in February, I'd wait until next July.

Of course, barring major injuries, the Mets are contenders next year. But we have an abundance of starting pitchers. If you're resigned to moving him, I'd get the first half out of him, hopefully building a large cushion in the division.

Both teams are different. I think the last time Mets played Cards was July 19. Purely based on records, wouldn't the Cards appear to be an easier opponent?
The Cards are pretty dangerous up and down their line-up, but they have been battling injuries recently and all year. Holiday is still hobbled, but a dangerous hitter and Molina eventually had to leave last night's game because of his thumb injury (a big X factor for them going forward). Also, they shut down P Carlos Martinez in September and Wainwright is only working his way back now, not sure if he will be able to give a full start. Lackey, Wacha and Garcia are all tough, but the Mets would have a definite edge in starting pitching and after the moves they made, their daily lineup can stack up against the Cardinals.

Matz had a no- hitter into the 8th inning last year I believe pitching in a Championship game in the minors. I think the kid has the stomach for this kind of pressure. We all will see in a couple of hours.

One more thing is I'd love to see Mr. Wright and Mr. Duda get back in the game tonight. Wright only has one hit for the series albeit a very big one in the opener. And in the game LA won he slapped the ball weakly to the SS for two easy double plays. And the Big Lebowski seemed to be in another one of his funks last night. But hey, I guess someone has to make the outs.

Cubs, because the Cardinals are evil. And because it wouldn't hurt nearly as badly if the Mets lost. (Hey, I'm a Mets fan. I expect pain.)

I would pitch Harvey until his arm falls off next year and then trade him to a contender at the deadline.

He's under control for 2 more seasons, no? No reason to unload him in the off season.

I'm also curious how his arm responds over the off season. There's no doubt he's a me guy, but that doesn't mean he can't settle into the rotation.

Also, Fatty Francessa thinks the Met's throw about $65-80MM for 5 years at him this off season and put him into the position of having to turn that down. He's still making peanuts the next two years. He could sign for life changing money and skip arbitration, etc. The thought being that with one Tommy John under his belt already, Harvey takes the money now and avoids putting himself in the position of risking getting hurt. If he stays healthy, he'll sign his $20MM a year contract later. If he gets hurt again, he has $75MM guaranteed.

But I would have no problem trading him, in theory, cause I think he has done just about everything wrong from a personality standpoint the last half of the year.

The Red Sox really need an ace. Since Harvey's under control for 3 more years and should have no innings limits moving forward, I think you can get Bogarts and Moncada. Dombrowski is going to look to make serious changes. The Mets will probably have to throw in Rosario, but I'm fine with that.

As I stated before that as a Yankees fan I would have loved a NY /NY World Series but after seeing the crowd at Wrigley ...go Cubs. In a year of breaking long droughts like the Triple Crown what could be better than the Cubs winning the World Series. Especially after EB passed away.
I have no hatred as a Yankees fan towards the Mets but the Cubs would be a huge story.
Saw a great sign in the stands today at Wrigley. "Let's party like it's 1908"

Not our night. Dude missed one and Conforto just missed. Moma said there'd be nights like these.

We get it Bus, you hate the Mets as much as you hate Kyle Flood. In your eyes, their fans suck. The Cubs are better. Why don't you start a Yankee thread and see how many replies you get?

Not blaming , just luck of the draw on who they had cover. Plus the pussyball pop fly by Gonzalez that dropped in

Don't think for a second that this is over. Degrom
has already shown that he can best one of their aces. Just have to scratch some runs across. And keep Kendrick off the bases. Maybe pitch around the ex-Met Turner.

Knight sometimes you can be a complete asshole. Go back through this thread and read how many times I have supported the Mets here. But you ignore it and put up one of THE DUMBEST POST ON THIS THREAD. Are you a complete moron or do you just have a reading comprehension problem????

Greinke is a standard 1-2 runs at best; if deGrom has his A game it's going to be one of those absolutely draining nail-biter games. And Turner is absolute torture - basically I assume a backbreaking hit of some sort every time he is up there.
