This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. North Dakota State (D1 if you’re not familiar) scheduled Oak Hills Christian academy. Most schools play a non-D1 opponent these days (RU has NCAA DIII Stonehill College coming up), but apparently Oak Hills Christian is not even NCAA, or NAIA. They are a college with a TOTAL enrollment of 93 students.

I understand in North Dakota it’s probably hard to get pay games at home, but this is ridiculous. The score at halftime was 60-5.

Whatever payday they got, was it really worth humiliating their student athletes like that?

My son played his first game ever last weekend and lost 46-12. I thought that was about as bad as it could get. Clearly, it wasn't even close.

PS...his team won game 2 and 3 this weekend, so apparently the 3rd/4th grade team from Clark is just that good.

Oak Hills Christian has gotten blown out like this in other games. Look at their results. They do have two close wins against a tribal team.

There’s no excuse for this. Although I did witness an AAU game where the mismatch was so great and the winning team was running up the score to about a 70-80 point lead. The coaches went to shake hands after the game and everyone was ready for something to happen. Before the losing coach could say anything, the winning coach put his finger in the loser’s face and yelled “that’s what you get for wasting everyone’s time!”. The loser’s went away quietly. Although he was a dick, he did have a point…the losing team should have never entered the tournament as they got destroyed by all the teams they played. It was humiliating for everyone IMO.

I recognize some of those guys from my over 40 YMCA basketball league. 😉

We (TKR Team) could definitely give them a run for their money and probably win.

lol I went to high school in Clark (20 years ago)

Over all, that looks like one of the most unathletic college teams ever. It looks like a beer league team.

JBL? Clark runs their third grade team in fourth grade a year early. When they play the next season they are more advanced than the other teams. When you play them again in the later part of the season or the tournament it will be closer

Long time ago, Lisa Leslie set scoring record of over 100 points in a game - would have been more but other team didn’t come out to play second half.

Out of curiosity I looked to see score of game 169-15.
other curiosity was record for high school was set in the 1920s when a girl scored about 160 in a game(already forgot exact #)

46-12 games are par for the course in elementary travel BB. I tell my boys all the time - there are levels and levels. We’ve been on both the winning and losing side of scores like this many times. And oh yeah - it’s probably not too correlated with the future because 1 or 2 good players on a team mean everything in youth ball.

I agree with the OP. NDSU shouldn’t schedule this game. At the D1 level it’s ridiculous.

December 12, 1987, the Oklahoma Sooners won 152-84 against Centenary. Billy Tubbs head coach, team had Stacey King and Horace Grant. Finished 4th nationally. Billy Tubbs quote after the game, when questioned was it worth running up the score was classic. To paraphrase, maybe the other team will play harder next time. And he said it without hesitation.

We're in BOund Brook, and we do the same. Unfortunately, they are in their 4th grade cycle, and we are in our 3rd grade cycle. We only have 2 4th graders on the team.

I think running into them the first game was just a terrible draw. It was 30-4 at halftime, and that's about when our kids kinda figured out how basketball works. They were used to practices, but most had never played in a game outside of PE before. When a kid came to the top of they key and set a screen, I almost choked. It was obvious that our coaches hadn't gotten to that yet. But this weekend, we won both of our games, so we're figuring it out.

My son is in a similar situation. The 3rd graders in town are just as good if not better than the 4th graders. We got waxed by what seemed to be an all 4th grade team in Ramsey 38-9. It was the first basketball game ever for most of our kids. Looking forward to watching them develop.

I know our guys were all just scared. I told my son to just play. Go out there and shoot the ball. He was so afraid to miss, that he wouldn't even shoot in the first game. After 3 games, his confidence is up, and he's playing pretty well. You know, pretty well for a 9 year old. I can still totally take him.

Coached PAL against Clark a number of times quite a few years ago. Lesson: If you play Clark at Clark, you better be 20 points better.
