Buddy of mine and I are getting together and I want to try something new. Already been to Bistro 18, Fascino, Giotto's, and Scala del Nonna, and liked them all. Definitely want a BYO, preferably with Italian or American cuisine. TIA.

Try Corso 98 on Walnut St
You can walk to halcyon for more drinks after dinner
I'd come visit you but I'm in Vail
That might work, Zap.

P.S. What are you doing checking the board in Vail?!!

P.P.S. You're living the life, my friend.

Just booked it for 6:30. Will let you know how the restaurant experience was.

P.S. Definitely gonna drink a toast to Eddie. Things didn't turn out the way anyone wanted them to, but he'll always be a Scarlet Knight.

I just hosted a corp. dinner at Prime 151 (Italian) on Valley Rd, very good, and right across the street is Tierney's Tavern (Irish pub), maybe next time give these 2 a shot.

Been in Tierney's a few times when my BIL's band was playing upstairs.

P.S. I'm gonna need the invite next time you're hosting one of these events. Just sayin'.

Zap, Elio says hi. He's heading to Italy this May with his family for his sister's kid's wedding. He speaks highly of you and your wife and your wife's family.

Corso was good, and making it better was a table of five sat near us, and at some point I noticed one of them take her phone out and her phone case had a big block R on it. So I of course had to say hi, and my buddy and I got into a conversation with them about RU, basketball, football, etc. Was a wonderful bonus to a nice dinner.

Instead of going out to a restaurant, call Bobbi Brown, tell her you are coming over and will bring some pizzas. Somewhere during the night, casually mention the naming rights for The RAC are still available. See if she would go for a million a year to have her name on the Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Coliseum ?

Agree with cuban petes being loud but fun. More if yur going with a group and/or day drinking. Sitting out in the courtyard and bringing your own wine or rum and they'll make you mojitos or sangria.

Messob (sp) as mentioned by another poster is fantastic but it is etheopian so very different from what the poster wanted. However for anyone willing to try something different it is very good.

ALso enjoyed saveur creole on grove (near Walnut station). very small place, byob but very good creole food. was there on a random night with 1 other couple and the chef/owner came out to explain the menu and give suggestions. great experience.

That's on the list for the future, as is Laurel & Sage as well as Halcyon.

Laurel and Sage , w well know chef Ariane Duarte, closed 2 years ago and reopened in a bigger space w bar down Bloomfield Ave in Verona. Now known as Ariane Kitchen and Bar. Getting very good reviews:
