OT: New Music (Released January 2020 or Later)

Speaks to how little there really is
There is plenty. So I was out mountain bike riding last evening, and I pass spring meadow golf course which has a bar and restaurant. There was a cover band outside playing Zombie by the Cranberries. I thought to myself: if only bac2therac was here to enjoy this.

Per his conversation on the other board, he may be out at Fire Island.

Slept from 4-10 - a good 6 hours! Although you posted at 4:12 am, so not sure what your point is, lol...
I had an excuse. It was my volunteer fire department duty crew shift. No night calls for 2 weeks, and my duty crew, 3:30 a.m.

You going to answer the question about Hum and Car Seat Headrest?

Any good new songs or albums released this year?

Biggest surprise and solid release on June 23, 2020 by the band Hum (famous for the 1995 song Stars), which had not released an album since 1998.

Car Seat Headrest has also released a new album, which is not as strong as the last album:

Badly Drawn Boy- Banana Skin Shoes

Elvis Costello- No Flag - very solid song

BPMD- American Made

My favorites so far in 2020:
Waxahatchee
American Aquarium
Steve Earle
Kathleen Edwards
Drive-By Truckers
Jason Isbell
Pinegrove
Phoebe Bridgers
Rookie (new rock group from Chicago, give them a try)
G.F. Patrick (new roots rock from Philadelphia, really good)

Pinegrove is from Montclair, NJ. They are still young, but have about 3 records out already, so I would hope many people have heard of them. They are the last concert I saw before the world shut down in March.
They don’t make too many videos, but here is something from their 2020 release Marigold.

Love Pinegrove. My son's band played basement shows in NB with them. "Old Friends" from 2016 is one of my all-time favorite songs and this NPR Tiny Desk Concert shows them in fine form, with Old Friends starting at the 4:04 mark if interested. Have posted this before without much comment, but nice to see another fan.

How many songs work "solipsistic" into the lyrics? And these sets of lines really get me, emotionally, especially since my mom passed away back in April (was a good full life and already posted about that - just noting the lyric about calling parents, below).

Walking out in the night-time springtime
Needling my way home
I saw Leah on the bus a few months ago
I saw some old friends at her funeral

My steps keep splitting my grief
Through these solipsistic moods
I should call my parents when I think of them
Should tell my friends when I love them

Slift, from out of the Touluse, France, appropriately the center of the European Aerospace industry. The live performance video is something to behold. Nice to see bands making songs in excess of 15 minutes.

I prefer hard rock, metal and punk rock, but that is some fine music. Thank you for sharing.
I was surprised at the number of views/comments on the video.

So criminally underrated! Up there with the great singer song writers.

I went to Ken Stringfellow's virtual concert today, it was a blast. It was a show of all fan requests and covered 30 years of songs from his solo album, The Posies albums and his side projects. No Big Star this time though. Some cool covers though.
