OT: New Music (Released January 2020 or Later)

No I don't know what you mean. Lizzie Hale crushes Karen O.

There's nothing wrong with Imagine Dragons. I'm open-minded enough to recognize them as talented and popular, while not my cup of tea. Kind of like The Killers.
Please chile..ive never heard of Lizzy is she related to Lizzo

Need to free your mind a bit. You don't like hard rock music. I get it.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs do not have 400K subscribers on YouTube. Halestorm nearly has 1M subscribers. The fact that you have not heard of Lizzie is comical when you are calling me out. And I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs a lot. I actually did not know Karen O was the lead singer. 😜 Good day. Maybe we will find some common ground on football. Interesting discussion between the always rational and even-keeled @rutgersguy1 and me in the NCCAAF game thread about head coaches, etc.

Speaking of AIC, I was on the fence about going to see them instead of the Nebraska game. The last two times they came to PNC in Holmdel, the shows were canceled due to weather, and for one show, Korn was on a double bill with them.

But looking at the setlist, with such a deep catalog, I'm not sure what is more disappointing-the Nebraska game result or this setlist, which seems fairly static. 15 songs is lame. No Rain When I Die or God Smack (the song), Over Now, Brush Away, Nothing Song, or Sea of Sorrow.

One of the better shows I saw was Jerry Cantrell opening for, not kidding, Nickelback. I left after Jerry's set.

Its hard to argue with that setlist though..what songs will they leave out..they have to play a couple of the hits post Staley

I think they toured co headline so probably only 75-80 minute shows???

Did want to go...what were the odds a game on the same night...very late in season for arts center show too

AIC had Breaking Benjamin and Bush on the bill. I kind of always saw Bush as a poor man's British ripoff of Nirvana. Other than Machinehead, Everything Zen, Glyrcerine and Comedown, don't recognize songs on their 10 song setlist.

Breaking Benjamin, another solid rock band, played 15 songs

I like Bush..first 3 releases were great.

They were part of the casualty of 90s grunge artists who were still relevant up before 9/11 but weren't after it. . Bush, Live, Cranberries, Garbage, Days of the New all suffered fatal blows because their cds all dropped around that August to December period of 2001. Music then moved on to a period where rock was treated like a pariah before that mini British invasion in the mid 2000s

I can't name one Breakin Benjamin song

I was there Friday

They’re horrible. Bush was good. (That’s what she said) We left half way though AIC’s performance.
Please be my google… This lead singer of AIC… was he the only replacement after Layne or was there another guy?

Really? Yes, that is the same singer, William Duval, who took over for Layne after he passed. What many casual fans did/do not realize is that Jerry Cantrell harmonized on most of the AIC vocals. Layne could be replaced or matched. William Duval does a decent job.

Looks OK here? Was that Fabio on drums?

Always love reading this thread. On the concert front, looking forward to seeing Me First and the Gimme Gimmes in Philly this week.

none of their songs fit the “new music” category, but their concerts are so much fun.

Maybe an off night. Two other people I know thought the same.
I thought it was just me because I was so obsessed with LS as the lead singer.
I may just be old and grumpy lol
Next up.. Smashing Pumpkins!
I need to realize these bands won’t sound the same as they did when I was 17.

Blink 182’s new song drops the 14th and look who is back..

Guess searching for Bigfoot and Aliens didn’t work out?

I listened to Anthony Kiedis on JRE and learned that RHCP released 2 albums this year. One in April- Unlimited Love and another one- Return of the Dream Canteen a few days ago.

His speaking voice irks me. So does his mustache. Lol

Edit-I know there was chatter about new music in this thread.

I saw them twice. Once he was great the other time his voice didn't hold up.

Met Layne back stage at MSG in 91 at the Clash of the TItan's show before he let heroin end his life.

No Slipknot fans out there?

New album.

found a pocket of time where i'm not on a ton of calls for work. about halfway thru the album now...its pretty good...i guess i would say that it's really good for radio...pop extreme metal i guess? caught myself doing a light headbang/headbob while working. which is generally a good measure of how into an album or song I am. as a reference point, i have flung my headphones across the room while listening to real groovy, heavy tracks.

I've given it some listens and I feel like it's an average album for them. Their guitarist Jim Root said they really didn't do their normal pre production on the album because of covid which probably affected the quality of it.

its not one that i'm going to keep high on the list of albums i run to for multiple listens. if i hear any of the songs on XM, i wouldn't change the channel...but prob not anything i actively seek.

Think that Yen is a great tune. Downloading the album to ITunes now.

Jay Weinberg (son of Max Weinberg) from the E Street band) is the drummer for Slipknot. He had filled in for his father on a bunch of E Street shows, and he could barely contain himself playing Springsteen tunes.
