Agree for GVF's early stuff. I don't think Robert Plant ever hit notes as high as on the new tune I posted. They seem to have moved away from the Led Zep sound.
This band went from playing small bars to amphitheaters in about an 18 month period, which is ridiculous for a rock band these days. Part of that was some overhype by people like Elton John among others. Then came the inevitable backlash and hyper criticism. I saw them live back in 2018 at Pier 5 in NYC. I kind of got a kick out of them and they can really play for such young musicians. They may not be the most original band in approach but I do think they catch too much criticism from some of the more “hip” critics. I will check out their new album.Agree for GVF's early stuff. They opened for Metallica for Metallica's online concert to raise money for Metallica's charity foundation, and I thought they put on a nice show. Not a band I would go out of the way to see, but at least they are a rock band playing live rock music. This band went from playing small bars to amphitheaters in about an 18 month period, which is ridiculous for a rock band these days. C'mon. At 0:24, a little ketchup, mustard or hot sauce?I like him, but…nope.
Sounds like a Greta Van Fleet rip off!! 😜For all you prog/classic rockers, I bring you Canada's own Crown Lands with their fairly new single, Lady of the Lake. Light up, close your eyes and you might be transported to 1975 and think you're hearing a cross between Rush and Zep...
I like this. Interesting that they are a Canadian duo. My oldest son grew up listening to Rap/Hip Hop for the most part. Recently he has started listening to more rock, his favorite band is another Canadian duo called The Blue Stones. They have a strong Black Keys vibe to their sound. For all you prog/classic rockers, I bring you Canada's own Crown Lands with their fairly new single, Lady of the Lake. They have yet to top Songs for the Deaf (IMO), but still like QOTSA a lot.
This didn't draw me in as much as their previous work
^^^ I've seen a number of performers who were ugly enough to need to wear a mask. Good to finally see someone do so.Twitch streamer recorded a slipknot style song live on twitch in 2 hrs.
Another new tune from The Hives:Oh, joy. New music (first since 2012) from Sweden's The Hives. New album, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons, coming on August 11. Freaky video:
I’ve been listening to their new album “Darkfighter” and it’s really good. I think Rival Sons is one of the best hard rock bands of the last 10 years or so. I want to see them live . The singer Buchanan is one of the better vocalists on the scene today. Here is another song I like “Mirrors” live:Another new Rival Sons tune from their just released New Album. Singer sounds like Paul Rodgers from Bad Company?
He is.a fantastic guitarist and a good singer. It’s funny, I would consider this a “Rock”song but with all the silly labels and ridiculous number of sub genres that have emerged over the last 35 years in music, many would consider this “Country Rock” or marginally rock which is a little strange to me.If country rock/Americana is your vibe, Jason Isbell's new album Weathervanes is out and is excellent. So many great songs, A few have been out for a couple of months- Death Wish and Middle of the Morning. This, to me, is the standout on the album:
I was on board until about 0:58. Is there a name for this genre where the vocals vacillate between melodic and growling/screaming. Jinjer comes to mind.
Metalcore. But electric callboy is just something else... they're... unique. Germans can be a bit crazy.I was on board until about 0:58. Is there a name for this genre where the vocals vacillate between melodic and growling/screaming. Jinjer comes to mind.
