OT: New York Mets 2022-2023 Off Season Thread

What did Buck Showalter do that makes him deserve to be manager of the year? Just asking . . .
Improved the record by 24 games from last season with the top 2 aces down big chucks of the year and it's voted on before playoffs. Imagine if the playoffs counted, maybe Judge doesn't get Player Of The Year after his disgraceful embarrassing showing.

Did they discover anything with the "ear checking" ?
yeah- he had two- what does this have to do with our off-season?

If you have anything meaningful to add to the off season thread, we welcome it. Otherwise- start a new thread- thank you

🧹. Houston says hi.🧹 You must enjoy being a clown after every year of embarrassing yourself with your team of rodents And classless fans. Go throw some more garbage at Myles straw. And clean it up with a 🧹 courtesy of the Astros.

I think that Buck knew before he went out there that the pitcher had two ears.

Ok- has nothing to do with the off season thread.
I know you can actually talk baseball- so just do that. It is an off season thread to talk about FA’s- trades, what may be up coming, etc.,,

MLB to investigate the Mets and Yanks for possible improper contact regarding Judge.

This allegation is the exact opposite of what you might think. It is not about the Mets cheating to sign Judge. It is about Steve and Hal improperly colluding to refrain from signing each other's free agents, most notably Judge.

That makes a lot more sense and was stupid in the first place.

This sort of arraignment between the teams has gone on for years. For the most part the teams have not pursued the others free agents except when one team has decided to move on from the player. Now suddenly what has been pretty much an open secret for years is now Watergate.

When it's explained like this, the headline is just plain stupid, since there really is nothing to see here, crazy.

kbee pretty much trips over his untied shoelaces to post a dig at anything negative about the Mets, then goes silent running when the Yankees $hit the bed every postseason, too funny and predictable. Can we just cleanup their postseason mess and move on to off season talk?

The problem is the players union. For two owners to openly say they will not pursue a player(s) in agreement, it is in fact collusion. We know it has been done for years and mult teams have made behind the door handshakes on these things but for it to get out, does not help...

The Mets didn't win their division. Greatest choke job since the late back to back failures in the 2007 /2008 . This was worse because you think payroll means so much. Mets were the biggest spenders and got 3 games at home. Embarrassing

Truly amazing how little you bring to the discussion.
Truly amazing you are backing a so called Mets fan who spends more time worrying about the Yankees. So much so he changed his avatar to a Houston Astros logo. Amazing is you put up with that idiot and defend him. The rest of us just want to talk about baseball

Greatest choke job in the history of this city was being up 3-0 in the playoffs on the Sox and losing 4 straight. Also I recall a certain team who did win their division got swept out if the playoffs this year by the Astros. The team with the biggest payroll in the AL was lucky to get past the Guardians. Now that is truly embarrassing.

Not me but your Mets fan Yes took a shit on the Yankees board. I have no interest in fighting with Mets fans. But I'm not going to ignore it either.

The greatest choke job is not winning a World Series since 1986

I didn’t defend anybody. I do find it precious when Yankee fans talk about Mets spending money.

You should get a little smarter when trying out your baseball wit.

Let's just educate a little bit-

One team had a 2.5 game lead at the AS break and ended the season after the break with a 43-26 record and tied for 1st. They lost a 2.5 game lead

Another team, on pace for the greatest season in baseball history had a 13 game lead in their division and a 4.5 game lead in the AL to carry home field through the playoffs. Team number 2 played to a 35-35 record after the break- still won their division but by just 7 games because the rest of their division sucked too. But- they lost that 4.5 homefield advantage and ended up 7 games behind the team they chocked to during the season and then choked on during their sweep.

I think it may be clear who choked the worst.

Battle of NY teams- at the AS Break - Yanks up 6.5 games over the Mets and finish 2 games behind them in record.

BTW- both teams ended the season winning a total of 102 games- except one team lost 69 games and the other only lost 63.

Now try to add some value to conversations. Because all your posts are not about baseball but more about who called you a name or hurt your feelings.

No let me help you your great "dynasty" not winning a world series since 2009 with the highest payroll in baseball during the majority of those years is the biggest choke job in NY history. The Mets had nickel and dime owners who did not care about winning. The Yankees had more money than anyone and could not get it done. Squandering all those resources is the true choke.

Back to topic if I may. Tomorrow (November 18) is the deadline for teams to extend tender offers to its arbitration eligible players. So we'll know soon if Dom Smith is a Met or an ex-Met.

That will be an interesting one. Do they hope he can show some value early next year or let him walk?

Wait, I thought you told me to stop following you and answering your posts? Am I missing something you jack-off? For the record,I was responding to kbee's ignorant posts, but you felt the need to jump in,Nothing I said was directed at you so I guess your the Super Hero to dumbass Yankee posts? Oh, I forgot, I hit the "like" button a couple of times, what a softie you are. That "like" button" is the gift that keeps on giving, priceless. lol. Until this attack by you, when was the last time I even mentioned your name Shortbus? Be gone and drone on and on about Cashman, Stanton and Boone. No one listens to you including the letters you sent to them speaking on behalf of your fanbase, too funny. Now once again,I will like posts that crush you and I will talk hot stove so Fork Off.

If they let Dom Smith walk for nothing then I think they did a poor job with him. I guess he developed a bad attitude and did not have good year but he will get another shot elsewhere very quickly.

I've never heard anything but Dom was a great clubhouse guy and was very tight with Pete, who shared a position at 1b and DH. Like Willis said, he stopped hitting and rode the shuttle back and forth to Syracuse. Now I get the part about hating Syracuse, don't we all?😁

He has been in the majors for parts of 6 or 7 seasons. Outside of Covid's abbreviated season, he really hasn't shown much.

Solid small trade. Get 2 depth arms with minor league options left. Sanchez was further away and doesn't throw strikes yet. Brigham is a RP and Hernandez could be in the Trevor Williams role.

Probably doesn’t agree with Dom Smiths opinions on things that automatically “gives” Dom a bad attitude.
I may have been off on the bad attitude. Thought I heard that he was not handling his lack of playing this year well (comments to the press) and might have been sent to Syracuse to get that straightened out. He did in fact report to Syracuse and I assume worked on his trade there. So again, perhaps I was incorrect on this.

I guess the bigger point is that if they were not intending to make an effort to sign or trade him now rather than just cut him loose, couldn't they have gotten something done before the trade deadline last year? I thought several teams had periodically inquired about him over the past year.
