OT: New York Mets 2022-2023 Off Season Thread

Embarrassment of riches.... Give Vogelbach a month to hit, if he's not hitting, escobar and alvarez would be a nice DH platoon.

The only thing the team is lacking is some overall team speed... lindor/nimmo are serviceable, but besides that they're not overly fast/athletic.
Marte and Correa aren't exactly slow.

Now all you Mets fans and Correa will find out 3rd base is not easy and that flat footed no momentum towards 1st long throw is a big adjustment.
AROD handled it and was a better SS than Jeter when he made the move to 3B.. Correa will be fine, it's not like he's an average SS.

So did Cal.
Ernie Banks couldn’t do it.
It ain’t easy😊😊
Believe it or not, one thing that will help is no shift, now he won’t have to wait 5 seconds for the 1st baseman after a one hopper

That you never brought up the Yankees salaries in the past. I know its hard to remember, because you lie so much you forget what is real and what is made up. I would go with 99% as made up.
Where did I say dumbass, that I didn't bring up the Yankees salary? Of course I did, ever since Big George blew MLB salaries out of the water. Now Steve Cohen is doing the same and Yankees are butt burnt over it. The lie would be pathetic Amigos trying backhanded concern on over overspending, TKPuss wondering about the health and longevity of these recent signings. Worry about Judge and how his health will decline after 2 years right TKPuss, after all I'm just stating what you said word for word.

100% correct. Players do it, some don't. Personally, I think it's even harder for a 2B to flip sides, make a longer throw, and be successful at 3B, yet there's some that do that also.

Well you just changed your first response to my post. It seems you are the crybaby!! You must have been drinking early this morning to already forget this from you.
" I don't know a single Mets Fan that ever complained about the Yankees over spending to buy Championships."
I know one, you!!🤣

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Speaking of bullshit. You constantly bring up the Yankees payroll. Including during playoffs where you actually thought Cleveland Guardians entire 2022 payroll was just $29 million!! 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe you should just enjoy the Mets spending and stop making up stuff.
While the Yankees for many years spent more than other team, they were still playing by the rules of the game. Cohen is playing by the rules of today's game. Mets fans, and I am one, should just enjoy having someone like Cohen as an owner.

I was mocking kbee and his response to "not knowing one Yankees fan that thought not winning the World Series was a failed season. God, your stupid.I don't know a single Yankees fan that thinks a WS title is all that matters. I only hear that crap from loser Mets fans, most of whom weren't even alive the last time their team won a WS. Get it? I was mocking the bull$hit kbee said. No one believes that for one second.

You weren't mocking KB. You responded to my post. Lots of dumb mistakes by you today. Too funny you can never get anything right. On a great day for the Mets you'd rather junk up the Mets thread to call out Yankees fans instead of enjoying about getting a great player. Talk about stupid. Your best trait!🤣🤣🤣

Third definitely ain't easy, and the throw is only part of it.
No shift will change a lot of defensive tactics and how hitters are pitched as well.

Cutoffs change, pickoffs change, double plays from the pitcher change, bunt plays change, steal coverage changes.
Spring training will be interesting to watch…
These current players don’t know how to play straight up

Marte didn't steal bases last year because of the groin injury. But guy is fast. If the groin is good- he may not lead the league again with almost 50 SB but he could be 25+ and a great baserunner. Correa and Nimmo are similar- don't steal bases but fast on the base paths, same with McNeil. And of course, Lindor

Met's won't lead the league in SB but they have a bunch of good baserunners who are above average speed. Even last year- they won games but taking extra bases and forced defense to have to be worried about them running bases hard and aggressive.

3B would have been the one position I never would have wanted to play at that level. As a 12 y/o- always thought I could have handled anything until Stargell hit a line drive during BP about halfway between 1b and the outfield wall- I was trying to get a Duffy Dwyer autograph and reached up for that ball and it took my glove about 10 rows behind me. lol I started to study more and played less baseball. haha
But in this case- Correa has played 3B previously, so I do not think it will be a problem for him.

I never really checked, but I often wondered what if anything happened to the open-or-closed mouth signal from the SS to the 2B once the shift was implemented. Mostly out the door, I'd think.

Just as interesting, I wonder how the analytics might be employed to respond to the no-shift rule: two infielders on each side of 2B and all infielders on the dirt before ball pitched. Like any rule, it'll be pushed to the edge and partial work-arounds will be used. I wonder if some teams might start redeploying outfielders. Maybe none of this will happen, but it'll be interesting to watch how defenses develop around the new rule.

I'm trying to enjoy today but because you didn't take your meds, your reading comprehension is way off, lol. Reread what my post was after yours, dumb ass. How can't you see I was mocking on kbee. I even said I tweaked it from most of his post.

There was no need for open and closed mouth with the shift.
Now, who’s covering from the pitcher and who’s covering on the steal could change with every pitch

Wow,so that means I edit what you think I changed? LMFAO! Let's try a different tactic, putting aside your jealousy and total lack of reading comprehension. Be honest, except for Judge, what position are the Yankees better than the Mets,as the teams stand at this moment? Now onto the closer role? Starting 5 the Yankees are very good, but Mets are better. Here's an easy one, better GM? Lol How about owner?lol PS. Changes were made strictly for grammar. I'm not as good at c/p trolling as you are. Back to today's news, LFGM

I took out crybaby really? Clearly if I did that it was a major mistakes since all you've done is cry since the story broke today. Today should have been about the Judge press conference, but it turned into the Mets show again, lol

Cry??? Jeeze my only post on here until you chimed in was to say to Mets fans enjoy having an owner who spends. Funny you are trying to deny you changed the post. What a low life. Dude I saw it! With some stupid picture you posted. I thought what the hell is he talking about. You've really lost it. And still rather dispute it and wreck the Mets thread 🙄

The owners will make a major move to get an additional playoff team in each league to negate the overspending.

Also,no one knows how playing every team will affect things as well. Can you imagine the wear and tear on Seattle and the Florida teams?

You are stupid. You posted it on 1:24 and changed it at 1:30. Lol. You don't realize the site keeps a record of changes lol. You are also stupid to just say that orginal reply was not meant for me and admit you were wrong again. Instead you want to f around on the Mets thread trying to say you are never wrong when I've proved you wrong 29 million + times. I came here today to say Bravo to Steve for caring and spending. Yet you can not help yourself. Mostly because you are just totally stupid. Keep lying, I'll keep responding. Dope
