OT: NY Mets Season

David Wright begins a minor league rehab assignment in St. Lucie. He is scheduled to play five innings at 3B. So if all goes well he's back this year. Some have speculated he wants to return this year and then retire. I am not in his head, but I cannot see that at all. I can't imagine he's gone through all this time, effort, and pain for a one-time appearance. I believe he wants to finish out his contract. We shall see.

Wright needs to retire. Watching the captain turn into a vegetable and trying to make the big leagues is a sad sight. Nobody questions his work ethic

Jay Bruce began his rehab at Port St. Lucie tonight. Played 5 innings in RF, went 0 for 2 with a K and a BB. He will get a lot of work at 1B during his rehab, and presumably when he's back with the Mets.

If the Mets are to contend in 2019, Bruce must return to his prior form of 35 HR and 100 RBI. Not impossible, since he did that just last year.
The Mets need to stop doing their shopping at Aldi's, and start shopping at Wegmans!!!!

More than Armando Benitez, Oliver Perez, Tom Glavine, and Hansel Robles?

I think so . I expected Familia to blow the game each time he came in. Would be surprised when he came in and actually earned a save. Can’t have that in a closer. Robles I knew was dreadful and I was more mad at the manager for inserting him. Same with Benitez and Perez. Was a Braves fan growing up in NC as a kid, before moving up here and switching my allegiance over time, always liked Glavine.

Did something happen with the Mets radio announcers tonight? Tuned in as the Phillies were bumped to some unknown station because of the Eagles. At first there was a single announcer who most likely had never called a game. Joined in the 4th by a guy who was just as bad. For the first time in 25 years the Yankees had better announcers. Just awful.

Gary on TV is on vacation so Randazzo went to TV and then the radio booth had Howie and someone else. Was it Lewin? He usually does a good job.

Who knew the Mets would have a game giving up 26 runs, and another game scoring 24 runs, in the same season? That's baseball.
They should dedicate the 40 runs in the last 2 games to deGrom.
Post All Star Break:
1. Conforto is batting over .300
2. Flores batting .277
3. Frazier batting .288
4. Nimmo batting .301
5. Reyes is batting .273-- Extend him!!!!
6. Rosario's average in June, July, August .216, .210, .288

Maybe the hitting is starting to gel, but can't draw too much from last night with those "pitchers".

Re-sign everyone to long term extensions! The Mets are BACK, baby!

And Rhame is now seven up, seven down. For the seventh time this year, he is off to Vegas. No replacement announced yet but it reportedly Peterson.

"I think the deck chairs look better arranged THIS way, Captain."
Jacob Rhame is now eight up, eight down. Eight separate Met tenures in one season. September will likely make nine. I wonder what is the record.

I couldn't watch anymore.

Somebody remind me why we traded Cabrera? And why is Plawecki playing every day? He's a 1 tool guy. And Frazier has been awful since coming back from the DL.

Cabrera - expiring contract. No brainer.

May as well play Plawecki because there's no point in playing Mesoraco, who'd have been traded had there been any demand for his services.

With tonight's debut of Daniel Zamora, the Mets have now already used 28 different pitchers That's not counting Jose Reyes' cameo. In contrast, the 1963 Mets only used 13 all year.

Degrom shuts down the Phillies. They won't be sad to see the Mets leave town.. Cost them some games in the standings.
Cy Young debate should come down to this, put Jake on the Nats he has at least the same amount of wins if not more

Bottom line on the 2 teams that will lose this seasons Wild Card Games, did they offer the Mets a fair deal in trying to acquire the best pitcher in baseball? If they tried to fleece the Mets, then shame on them, and what a great piece to build on for future success for the Mets!!!!

A "fair deal" was never going to get it done. Mets made it very clear that someone was going to overpay, else no deal.
