OT: NY Rangers 2024-2025 Thread

My “favorite” part of the whole night was when Sam said that the Rangers were concerned about their zone exits being subpar against Washington, right after he told us that Zac Jones was a healthy scratch again. Then he went on to tell us all night about how tough Lindgren was playing.
My friend.
I realize Zac is a capable puck mover, but the system Lav employs allows so much in your face pressure on our D men, Fox can’t even get out of the zone and has no one to pass to.
We are simply overwhelmed by puck pressure in our defensive end, Zac like Fox against good teams is completely nullified from gaining speed, our D men have zero time and space, hence the constant pick reversals by the Rangers

Check the numbers when Jones was in versus when they forced Lindgren back into the lineup.

Horrendous system.
Don’t tell me Flip, Kakko and Cuylle don’t have the speed and physical ability to play a current modern hockey style
Well, they are solving that “problem” by breaking up that and the Panarin line to try and help our soft 1C.

I really don’t think changing the lines addresses the passive system they employ at both ends.
I put it in quotes because I was being sarcastic. They are breaking up better lines because they need to get Mika and Kreider working.

I believe the Chytil line still hasn’t been on the ice for a goal against. Screwing with that chemistry sure isn’t going to help the defense.

Lavi blowing up the lines today against the Islanders. Panarin & Laf with Zibanejad.

Maybe breaking up the two lines that had chemistry and were working, just to coddle your overpaid 1C, might not have been the best idea.

I was at a charity event last week and one of the auction items was 2 ice-level tickets to tonight’s game. Good thing I didn’t go all in on that.

Putrid tonight….lifeless. Zibanejad is going to be an anchor on this team for awhile.

Not a good sign that after watching the usual suspect overpaid veterans be on the ice for most of the first 5 goals, Laviolette cut the ice time of Chytil, Lafreniere and Kakko in the third period.

Meanwhile, Cuylle got the second most even strength ice time of all of the forwards, even though he was on the ice for 3 of the first 4 Buffalo goals.

If his goal was to f**k up Chytil and Lafreniere on purpose, he couldn’t be doing a better job the past few weeks.

Fire Laviolette? Might have to.

We have the skill and players to seriously challenge for a cup, some have warts but the system you employ can collectively remedy any shortcomings individual players have.

This team is the easiest, most comfortable to play against in the league.

Its Lav and his antiquated retreating, backing up, non attacking system.

It ain’t the players

When do they finally admit the Zibanejad contract was a total disaster and they have to stop f**king up the rest of the team to try and salvage him?

They have shortcircuited the great trajectory Lafreniere was on, and Kreider doesn’t work with Chytil/Kakko.

By the way, Roslovic has 9 goals in 13 games this year after dying on Mika’s RW last year.

Everyone dies on that wing.

I thought you guys were over reacting to Zib's level of play.

But just looked at his underlying numbers? Yikes. 60% offensive zone start and 40% shots for. That's ugly.

I watch a lot of different sports, and I don’t think I have ever seen a team willingly inhibit an overall #1 picks development, and the output of their most productive player, by continuing to play them with a teammate dragging them down like the Rangers have done for the last few weeks with Laf and Panarin.

Unable to watch tonight so I was about to ask if we’re still messing with the new lines. I guess so.

Two Zibanejad giveaways led to goals, but Zibanejad was in the locker room and missed a power play so Laf played in his spot and scored, and the reunited Chytil-Cuylle-Kakko line has a goal (Cuylle).

Update:

Three Zibanejad giveaways that led directly to goals tonight.

I’m caught up now and saw Zib’s giveaways that led directly to Winnipeg’s 3rd & 4th goals. Something has to be done.

The working relationship between GM and coach cannot be understated.
I have first hand experience and knowledge.
How Lav explains to Drury why Chytil played 8 less minutes than Zibanejad, and how Miller repeatedly makes the same mistake over and over and over should be an interesting conversation.
At some point The GM will eventually tell the coach who to play, the switching of lines was all Drury driven.
Now he’s got to exert authority on ice time

lol, this doesn’t even deserve a response. You probably don’t even know about the super series between Canada and Russia in 1972. I went to 1 game in Montreal.
The summit series. That is a wild piece of history. Awesome that you went to that.

The fact that Canada prevailed in 7 games in Russia is freakin epic

I remember every game and individual performances well.
Espo was incredible
The depiction of the summit series at the nhl hall of fame in Toronto is worth the price of admission alone

Sorry to bring a Devils clip to your BlueSkirt board, but I thought this a fight worth sharing. Could even be said Dillon lost so that might make it more acceptable here.

How lazy does Zibanejad have to play before they actually do something? He deserves to be a healthy scratch at this point.
I'm waiting for someone and came to the site solely to post about this. I know he's unmoveable, but how many first round picks and/or prospects would it take for someone else to take his contract?

It was bad contract at time of signing, but the regression last year is sadly continuing / becoming more concerning this year.

He’s a world class talent head case
He's an enigma. He always had raw athleticism, and first few years showed promise / growth / improvement. Then somewhere along way he turned into head case and looks nothing like player he was during initial few years.

And it's more than just Trouba.

The hole in his stick blade is ridiculous.
No one fans at his rate
