OT: NY Rangers 2024-2025 Thread

His mental and positioning gaps bother me more
The numbers for the Fox-Miller pairing are actually pretty good, because Fox’s instincts are normally excellent and he adapts to Miller’s play just like he does in a different way with Lindgren.

Pairing Miller with Trouba is a disaster because they both wander all over the place and leave huge gaps.

If the move between Kreider and Smith works, great. However he needs to have a very short leash. That 5v5 goals per 60 minutes stat is stunning. Lav needs to commit to defense to get the team out of the slump, and keeping your defensive liabilities off the ice is a good start.

The Rangers are going nowhere if they don’t realize that they are making things worse by trying to fix the problem players they are stuck with by attaching them to some of the team’s better players.

We have talked a lot about screwing up lines to try and fix Mika, and how bad Miller plays with Trouba. How many Ranger fans even realize that Fox’s even strength scoring has completely disappeared since they put Lindgren with him?

You should bury your problems, not allow them to infect things that are working.

Another stellar start for the Blueshirts.
I’ve never seen a team with two defensmen three feet apart behind their own net in my life

Couldn’t resist throwing a 20 on Goodrow scoring a goal at +450. Almost had it there in the 2nd.

Chytil done, it was only a matter of time.
Edit
He’s back, hopefully he’s ok
Edit - and he's out again. Devastating news as he's been so good / player he was couple years ago but gotta think this is either it or close to it.

And can only laugh that of course Miller did it

Wouldn't ANA give away Zegras at this point?
I don’t think they would give him up that easy, but I would be much more inclined to go after him now than I would have been in the summer.

in the summer reading people who really follow Anaheim said he was very offensively talented but a real liability on defense that made it hard to play him at center.

Now, it sounds like the coach is playing very defensive minded, and people think Zegras is showing very well on the end with his effort and defensive play, but that style has sucked all of the life out of his skilled play on offense (and he is playing with linemates who can’t take advantage of his passing when he does flash something).

For the right price it would be worth a shot getting him to play with Cuylle and Kakko on his wings where he wouldn’t have to overemphasize defense and could let loose on offense a little more.

Yeah give away is a bit strong. His offensive talent is undeniable, and pretty strong indications the Rangers were taking him in '19 before they won the lottery.

The big thing to me is that in the summer it sounded like he was a guy who had fallen in love with flashy offensive moves and wasn’t willing to do the dirty work to play defense.

Now, it sounds like he is working hard but the offense isn’t there. I would trust the offense could come back as long now that he has proven he has the attitude to play like a third liner if he has to.

I’d give Anaheim Mancini, Othmann and a draft pick for Trevor.
Leschisian…please

The Zibanejad line on the ice at the same time as the Trouba-Lindgren pair is just asking for high danger scoring chances by the other team.

That is what the next CBA is going to come down to.

Theoretically, the 50/50 split of revenue between owners and players is fair. However, the players get nothing of the huge increase in franchise value that the owners get (Seattle is already worth about 2.5X what they paid to get into the league).

The players will fight for a better revenue split, hopefully there isn’t a stoppage next time.

This team is a friggin mess. Another 1st period with 20+ SOG for the opponent. Unacceptable.

What an awful sports day.

Looks like they are going to try and make some changes. Brett Berard makes his debut tonight . Rempe is back up and in for Kreider tonight. Kreider is day to day with an injury. It also looks Drury wants to trade Kreider, Trouba and possibly Lindgren for more speed. Kreider and Trouba now have 15 team trade lists this season

Kreider is up there with the most powerful, faster skaters in the world.
At 230 pounds he blends it with being the biggest grab ass pussy in the league.

Rangers are some kind of awful.
They literally play stationary zone defense.
Blue have 42 shots as I type this.
Lav will say it was better.

Truba has some nerve talking to the press about caring and effort when he hasn’t hit anyone all year.
His only worth is when he’s physical and lighting people up.
Has Lav told him to hit somebody….doubt it

Rangers are so inept, our resident Blueshirt fans don’t even post anymore.
I just thankful that I had things to do and missed the Flyers game, because it sounds like they hit a new low.

Another new low appears to be Kakko trade rumors heating up a few days ago, because the return they would get for trading him would be well below his value.

The strategies by Lav I’m watching are astonishing imo.
We’ve got an entire coaching staff and GM instructing players to circle back behind the net and come out as a 5 man unit.
While reversing the puck the Rangers allow the opposition to completely organize their forecheck.
They even do this when the opposition is changing and don’t take advantage of the easy exit, they actually let the fresh players get set up.

The Rangers are still soft and weak. I don't care if they go on a winning streak or even win another President's Cup. They are unfit for the rigors of the playoffs and will fail again. This season is a waste of time.

My prediction is complete embarrassment and frustration tonight.
Ranger forwards will have no room or open ice to make a play.
Ranger D have no options but to reverse the puck or bang it off the boards.
Igor keeps them in the game as usual.

Devils already with 2 odd man rushes 90 seconds into the game. Incredible how much it’s fallen apart.

Joe M did a great job on the first goal replay detailing how lazy the Rangers had to play to turn that into a 2-1 against.

In their warped idea of being aggressive, both forecheckers attempted to pressure from 30 feet away…lol
Coaching!

A friendly FYI, if you are not following Sean Avery on social media you should. He is insightful and funny.

He’s an idiot but not wrong calling out how soft they are.
When players have confidence they can rely on their structure, system and coaches, they perform without thinking and react.

Rangers have no confidence in system or coaches, all they do is over think and over react…a complete cluster f’k.

Players mishandle pucks and make mistakes all the time on great teams, structure and system picks them up.

Every mistake the Rangers make turns into a grade A or a goal against… you can’t play like that, they are scared to death
