The numbers for the Fox-Miller pairing are actually pretty good, because Fox’s instincts are normally excellent and he adapts to Miller’s play just like he does in a different way with Lindgren. His mental and positioning gaps bother me more
If the move between Kreider and Smith works, great. However he needs to have a very short leash. That 5v5 goals per 60 minutes stat is stunning. Lav needs to commit to defense to get the team out of the slump, and keeping your defensive liabilities off the ice is a good start.Rangers' Mika Zibanejad opens up about mental struggle, fighting through slump

The Rangers are going nowhere if they don’t realize that they are making things worse by trying to fix the problem players they are stuck with by attaching them to some of the team’s better players. If the move between Kreider and Smith works, great. Edit - and he's out again. Devastating news as he's been so good / player he was couple years ago but gotta think this is either it or close to it.Chytil done, it was only a matter of time.
Edit
He’s back, hopefully he’s ok
Wouldn't ANA give away Zegras at this point?Give up some prospects for a legit top 6 center we can play on the 3rd line.
Flip ain’t coming back
I don’t think they would give him up that easy, but I would be much more inclined to go after him now than I would have been in the summer.Wouldn't ANA give away Zegras at this point?
Yeah give away is a bit strong. His offensive talent is undeniable, and pretty strong indications the Rangers were taking him in '19 before they won the lottery.I don’t think they would give him up that easy, but I would be much more inclined to go after him now than I would have been in the summer.
in the summer reading people who really follow Anaheim said he was very offensively talented but a real liability on defense that made it hard to play him at center.
Now, it sounds like the coach is playing very defensive minded, and people think Zegras is showing very well on the end with his effort and defensive play, but that style has sucked all of the life out of his skilled play on offense (and he is playing with linemates who can’t take advantage of his passing when he does flash something).
For the right price it would be worth a shot getting him to play with Cuylle and Kakko on his wings where he wouldn’t have to overemphasize defense and could let loose on offense a little more.
The big thing to me is that in the summer it sounded like he was a guy who had fallen in love with flashy offensive moves and wasn’t willing to do the dirty work to play defense.Yeah give away is a bit strong. That is what the next CBA is going to come down to.FYI
