OT: Okies sign 2 for 1 with Temple

Good opportunity for the Owls. Plus they might be getting a nice check from Oklahoma (I haven't read the details). I'd be surprised if Ruhle was still there by the 2nd or 3rd game.
I can see him replace Franklin at PSU if they don't start pushing for 1st in the East.

Unless Franklin delivers he will be gone PSU pays him 4 million plus per year and his staff gets huge dollars also I believe his offensive coordinator gets 1 million per year. Happy valley with what they are willing to pay will not accept nothing but winning.

No mention of any money for the deal, games in 2024, 2025 and 2028.

2-1 isn't a good deal if you want to claim to be a major program.
Rutgers did the and wasn't considered a major program by many when they scheduled 2 for 1s and ( adding insult to injury) had to play at the Meadowlands for their home games( in most of the 2 for 1s), instead of Rutgers Stadium .

If this helps the Owls get a on campus Stadium funded, it might be better for Temple than I think it is.

But it does show how bad the AAC looks in the eyes of the P-5 Conference schools when it comes to scheduling .
Temple fans might feel their Owl FB program is becoming more respected in the College football world , but deals like this (2 for one ) against the Sooners don't help me feel the same.

Just for the record, Fresno St signed a 3 for 0 with USC so while I don't like 2 for 1s, I can give our athletic dept a pass for signing a deal with a blue blood like OU. Wherever the game is played in 2025 if the series isn't cancelled is a likely sellout and hopefully in 8 years time, Rhule or whoever is HC has been been able to successfully build a brand. If all 3 games get televised that expands the brand further, then more icing on the cake. We'll be announcing a home and home with an ACC school soon too. We're trying.

Rhule will be long gone bye then and who knows what will happen to the ;group of Five' by the years game is supposed to be played...

Lmao. I always get a kick out of the experts who can predict what MR intends to do. Guess we'll all find out if we're lucky and healthy enough to make it to 2024.

Temple seems to have a better deal with their 2 for one than Fresno playing at USC three times and not one return trip.
Even the $1.1 payout the Bulldogs are getting per game seems worth it. But Fresno does schedule
away games against P-5 Programs without return dates.
In 2017, Fresno State will be playing at Washington and also at Alabama for $1 million and $1.4 million guarantees. In 2018, it will play games at Minnesota and at Colorado,( don't know what they'll rake in for those games) .
Sounds like Fresno St is a road warrior for cash and the USC games are just for raising money

Golden left Temple for Miami, Addazzio left Temple for Boston College. You don't think Ruhle won't leave for a P5, higher paying job?

And Ash will leave RU for a higher paying job as well, should he have success at Rutgers.
It's business. It's reality.

OU was trying to get a series done with Rutgers with our "home" game being at MetLife.

This was back in the last days of the Big East two ADs ago.

OU also supported Rutgers getting into the Big12, btw.

Crazy times....

Of course no one knows what MR is going to do...MR may not know what MR is going to do. But it's not hard to predict what he will do. Statistically, there's a tiny, tiny percent chance he'll be there in 8 years. If he can't sustain the success, he'll have been fired by then. If he does sustain success, just about any school with a HC opening will be shoving an offer at him. Two million won't keep him there forever.

Now if one of the pundits predict he will leave January 14, 2017, then I'll join you in chuckling.

Most of those RU vs. SEC series were in the 1980s and early 1990s, starting with the visit to Tennessee in 1979 (an RU victory as many here will recall). That was part of a 1 GS and 2 away game series against the Vols, followed in early 2000s by a visit to Knoxville with no return game. Other series included 3 visits to Kentucky with 2 GS games, a visit to Auburn who never returned the favor, and a GS and away series with Vandy, later followed by a visit to Nashville in the early 2000s with no return visit. RU did get one-and-one arrangements with, surprisingly, Alabama and Florida, with both of our home games at GS. Strangely, once our new stadium reopened in 1994, there were no new series with SEC members until the recent Arkansas series, for which our home game was the only time I can ever recall an SEC football team visiting our campus (and I've been watching RU football since 1966).

I think that RU demonstrated with its refusal to yield to ND's demands a few years back, that it is done playing the role of someone else's b...ch.

Never taught about this before if Ash shows he can win on the field where it counts how long will he be here? Will Rutgers pay to keep a coach? He is making 2 million a year now it is not inconceivable to think if he blows expectations out of the park and wins 8 games that an SEC school or another BIG school may come and double his salary. Then we will be back to square 1.

I don't think there is a poster on this site that beliefs that Rutgers is Ash's final spot if he is successful. Whether it is a a traditional elite program or the pros, if he is successful he will eventually move on. In this day and age it is unrealistic to believe that coaches will stick around for a generation. All you can ask is that when he does leave the program it is in such great shape that the next guy can just pick up where he left off.

No, we are still the Yankees' b..ch. They're gonna wham & bam us and expect us to turn around and say, "Thank you, sir, may I have another".

Actually it will take him 3-4 years to put together a legit great team here.

By then we will be much closer to the B1G buyout so we will be able to extend his contract with a nice raise at that point.

Just for the record they are really NOT the OKIES. They are the SOONERS. Under either name ,however, they will kick Temples butt.

No, they are land thieves...from the land of trail of tears...[winking]
