OT: Post different types of beer you've tried, and how it was.

Epic Big Bad Baptista 2018 release #21 is ok/good, not great. I'm surprised, as it's been pretty hyped. Pretty thin and a little hoppy. I had high hopes it would be close to Abraxas but it's not even close. Wouldn't buy again.
Tried the 2017 last year and agree 100%. "Thin" is the perfect description. My lovely wife brought home the 18 for me so i pretend to be excited. It's not terrible, but definitely disappointed.
I enjoy Epic's regular old Son of a Baptist much more. Their Tart &Juicy Sour IPA is really good too. Great summer beer.

If craft beer is your thing, you might want to head to Vineland.

The Brass Tap Craft Beer Bar, a Tampa-based franchise, opened its first New Jersey bar on South Delsea Drive. This will be Brass Tap’s 50th bar. Others are in Maryland, Wisconsin and the Carolinas, among other places.

No matter what you do, don't download untapped lol. Its a deep hole. But I enjoy hunting whales. If you want to check out my IG its filipinomike. Most of the Ipas I enjoy now is other half, monkish, Hudsun Valley and Imprint.

Treehouse used to be amazing till they moved totheir new location. The beer is just not the same. If anyone goes to RVA there 3 breweries that are really close to each other. The answer, Veil, and Triple crossing. Worth the trip. The answer also has a restaurant that serves great thai food. Mekong ( same owner) is a restaurant with the biggest tap list I've seen anywhere.

Has anyone here ever tried Mead? I just had Redstone's Nectar of the Hops. Very sweet yet refreshing on a day like this. I might look into B. Nektar's meads as well.
Melovino ( nj forgot what town) has awesome meads. Garagiste, Schrams, Boneflower are also great meads.

Just left Joe Canals in Lawrenceville. First, the shocking truth. Spent about 20 mins there and didn't buy anything!! But did find something some of you have been looking for. They had Ballist Points BA Victory at Sea. Was tempted to buy more but figured I would give you folks a chance, your welcome lol.
Also Goose Island Bourbon County has jumped the shark. They have a lot left over, unheard of just a few years ago.
They have big $ backing now, they make sooo much beer now.

I used to chase beer like women. It was insane. I used to drive up to treehouse, trillium, tilted barn, other half , Hudson and EQ for about a year lol. That was every weekend. @Jerseydix51 can attest.

Tired Hands is getting sued by their investors. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of douchebags. When a 4 of Milkshake costs at least $30 a pop, something is up. I'd rather buy a good value bourbon like Elijah Craig or Evan Williams Single Barrel or Knob Creek Small Batch 100 for a 30 spot.

There is a flaw in your logic.
Think about what you said here and why IPA's are called IPA's.
No flaw at all. IPAs were created to preserve the beer not the taste. They taste best fresh but will not spoil over time, just not taste as good. Big difference.

their beer has been trash, and the shakes go played out

They're the most overrated brewery in history. Levante in West Chester buries Tired Hands in terms of quality in and around Philly.
I am from NNJ, so I have never heard of Tired Hands. What is/are their flagship beer(s)?

Prairie Double Dunk (Imperial stout brewed with Oreos) is good. Thick and sweet. Better than Prairie PeKan and Paradise, but not as good as Bomb or any of its variants.

Prairie Consider Yourself Hugged was fantastic as well. I'm really hoping to score Pirate Bomb this year. Any of the Noir variants like Apple Brandy Barrel Noir, Vanilla Noir, Pirate Noir are outstanding as well.

Next year if anyone is interested we always have a share in black lot. Everyone is welcome.
I might have to take you up on this. I am in the black lot and might be losing my entire group this year as real life is taking a toll on my buddies -- changing work schedules, having a baby, moving out of state, etc.

Exactly. Shelf lives for IPAs at most are a month or two. You can't age IPAs without the hops breaking down, leaving you with a malty, undrinkable swill.
People say this all the time, but obviously the professional brewers understand that hop flavor fades over time. When making a barrel-aged IPA, they aren't aiming for the same flavor as a fresh IPA. It seems like most people don't like these beers because they are expecting more hop flavor than what is there just because it's called an IPA. Personally I really like Founders Doom and Kane Parhelion, but didn't like Founders Barrel Runner at all. Everyone has styles they like and styles they don't like though. For some, barrel-aged IPAs just don't do it for them, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean barrel-aging an IPA is a mistake on the brewers' part like many seem to believe.

Barrel Aged IPAs are hit and miss for me. We go in opposite directions on the Founders stuff. I enjoyed Barrel Runner, but didn't care for Doom. However, even though I liked Barrel Runner, once was enough. That's how I feel about most barrel aged IPAs. Don't think I ever had a repeat buyer.

That's a tit out of the way for me, but thanks. LMK how it is if you try it. I was probably going to stop at my go to liquor store tomorrow after work.
Will do, you can download beermenus app on phone and you put in the beer you are looking for and it will tell you closest places to you to find it

Anyone ever get their hands on beers from Troon? I'm talking the cans or bottles not what they have on tap at Brick Farm which is sometimes the same though.

Vanilla Noir was awesome. Will Pirate anything even distro outside of OK? Last year, many or all barrel aged Prairie beers didn't.

Yes, through trades or friends. Troon is awesome. Very hard to get a release unless you live nearby and can drop everything to get there.

And this is why I dont buy there stuff. I would love to try it but it is just so hard to get. I dont have the time to dedicate just for there beer. As far as local beers I will stick to Icarus
Icarus is my new local fave!!!!!!!! Just tried the newly released Milking It and it is very good just like most of their beers.

Troon is all 8-13% also I noticed. I drive by everyday so I can get it but that high percentage bothers me.
What bothers you about high ABV? If you're gonna drink, might as well. I find most dark beers (stouts, porters, Belgians, strong ales) below 9% don't taste as good.

I rarely drink a stout, Belgian, strong ale, or porter unless it is double digits in ABVs. Might explain why I am latching onto barrel strength whiskeys and bourbons as I am starting to explore that world.
