OT: Prime Time will crash and burn

Half his salary at JSU was $150k, which doesn't cover a single assistant's salary at Rutgers. When he donates half his salary at CU you might have a point.

Still more than what Schiano 2.0 has done.

It's bittersweet for me
Being an FSU fan, I loved Prime

He put us on the map
Without him (and Bobby), FSU wouldn't be where they're at today

We gave him a courtesy interview before hiring Norvell
By all indications, he came very prepared, and though not seriously in contention prior to said interview, impressed the powers that be and even surprised many of them with his attention to detail

Apparently, he thought he nailed it and was getting the job, and was super pissed / insulted when Mike got it instead

That motivated him to stick it to FSU (signing day last year) while simultaneously building up his image, and the FBCU brand, while at Jackson State (he also did a lot there to personally fund program out of his own pocket, but politics and greed got in the way, as funds were misappropriated due to corruption)

But the Travis Hunter debacle last year really soured me
He then doubled down and took Kevin Coleman from us as well

I would never bet against Deion
He's a visionary, smart, highly motivated, calculated, driven, talented with an ego the size of an ocean and the swag to back it up

But Colorado will be a tall task
Clearly, he's using it as a springboard to something bigger

Being from FT Myers and having inroads with FL recruits, and it being an easier position, I thought for sure he'd go to USF. Loads of potential, easy schedule, etc.

Grateful he didn't though as recruiting for FSU would have gotten more difficult
Deon put you on the map? JHC get a grip

..and it begins

"Notre Dame lost a big piece of its 2023 recruiting class on Thursday afternoon.

4-star running back Dylan Edwards announced his decommitment. The decision comes just a couple days after Edwards was offered by Deion Sanders and Colorado."

Didn’t he get the number one recruit in the nation to go to Jackson State? Colorado has a gorgeous campus, girls etc.

If they have the supporters for the NIL deals he will be fine. They won one game last year. Just get to bowl games and they will be happy. Don’t think they are expecting to get a NC anytime soon.

Gorgeous campus? Not even close. I was there in May and was shocked how average it was. Boulder is a cool town but overall the experience was lacking.

I have never had anything against Sanders. I do think he will have an immediate impact but not sure if he can sustain it.
But Colo seems like a place he will be able to do anything he wants to do.

Would Prime Time have self-funded the program?

And I can just imagine the fun that the SL would have had with Leach, to say nothing of the faculty protests. and possible boycotts.

I don't care much one way or another whether Sanders succeeds or not. CU doesn't play in the Big 10. But you're making assumptions about what he would have face3d had he come here that I think are inaccurate.
Boycotts of what and why? Would they not go to the games?

Yep.

Still doesn't change the fact that it is true.

Extreme confidence or false modesty who cares if a person exhibits either one. Neither changes the facts.
Agree
Prime is arguably the greatest cover corner of all time

His confidence is unparalleled

Mix that in w his persona, swag, trash talking, natural ability and brashness, along with his punt returns, INT’s, playing wide receiver, MLB baseball, and overall personality and the man is one of a kind

As mad as I was at him for the Travis Hunter situation, I still love the guy

The 100 year old stadium looks like a dump
But they put natural grass back in 20 years ago.
Its also over 5k ft elevation

Leach? Insufficiently woke.
I’m sure the CE people would love the hell out of him and would offset the non protests.

TBH, As would I’ve been saying for years that he’s one hell of a coach. And as others said here, he has helped kids from three different jobs to the NFL. Don’t forget his coaching tree is getting better.

FSU
I’m an FSU fan first, Rutgers second

Technically, Ron Simmons put us on the map

Deion & Bobby took it to the next level, then Charlie & Dunn got us to the top of the mountain
Actually Bowden was responsible for putting FSU football on the map. The program was in bad bad shape when he arrived in 1976. It was his ability to recruit and “sell” a championship vision. He recruited Simmons, et al. Also UF being put on probation in 1985 helped FSU’s recruiting go to a top national level. He also had great stability within the coaching staff for many years. If they would’ve figured out a way to run the ball better they could’ve won 4 or 5 NCs.

Simmons was Bobby’s first big recruit
Without either of them, they wouldn’t have achieved championship status

After coach Peterson left, the program was in trouble. Bobby had a vision and saw it come to fruition.

His offensive innovation, combined w UF going on probation, and a grassroots booster effort led by George Langford and Andy Miller, largely contributed to the rise of FSU football

If not for wide right 1, 2, wide left, 97 at UF, richt taking the UGA job and Weinke breaking his neck, the Noles could easily have 5-6 titles

For my money, Bobby is the GOAT

From what he inherited, to where he took the program, always playing Miami, having the “play anyone, anywhere” mantra, consecutive conference championships, national titles, and his overall personality, the man was absolutely legendary

If Colorado has a bowl season in Prime's first year, he will be elected Governor of Colorado. My question is how he handles adversity should the team struggle.

Is fsu a nice campus?

Agree but he's going to need some top notch coordinators.
That goes for every winning team. Sa ban’s first NC at LSU, OC: Jumbo Fisher. DC: William Muschamp. PT will be fine because not only do players want to play for him, coaches will use his spotlight to move up the latter. The have already hired an OC and DC, already received a commitment from a 5 star player. Potential transfers are calling Colorado asking for an opportunity. He not recruiting them, they are recruited him😀. There will be no Fort Knox secrecy there like another place I know.

It’s beautiful
Matching brick throughout on most of the buildings

Two large “greens”, sprawling weeping willow trees and the best eye candy I’ve ever seen

It’s landlocked though, being the smallest of the large state universities in Florida, making expansion, and in particular, their new football operations building, a tricky proposition

College Town was just built less than 10 years ago. Within walking distance of Doak Campbell Stadium (which i think is the most beautiful stadium in the country), it has a bunch of bars (Madison Social is phenomenal), restaurants, student housing, hotel, and a dedicated Booster bar (51 on Madison - my personal favorite)

Doak is a special place, but especially at night. The UF game 2 weeks ago was absolutely electric, and the ensuing celebration spilled into the wee hours of the morning

If you get a chance, I highly recommend taking in a game there. From the tailgating, hospitality amongst fans, pagentry, traditions, Marching Chiefs, warchant, Chief Osceola & Renegade, etc - it’s truly a sight to behold

I didn’t know it was the smallest. I just assumed it was the biggest

When other coaches do this, people will will “SO AND SO GOT THE TALK…” or “HE GOT PROCESSED…” But since it’s Deion, “HES AN IGNORANT AND ARROGANT SCUMBAG. I CANT WAIT UNTIL HE FAILS.”
I will never call PT ignorant, might agree that he is arrogant. However, show me an elite athlete or coach that isn’t arrogant. He put his team on notice, I am bringing in talent, if you don’t think you can compete, leave. I will say this if he had QB play like us last year, he would have already signed 2 transfers. To not sign a transfer after last season is extremely “arrogant”

Yeah, landlocked so difficult to expand
They bought a bunch of land out by the airport, so that’s in the future plans re getting bigger

Right now I believe undergrad is 35k students so they’re growing at a rapid pace

Somehow Colorado has fired one coach and hired another who has in turn hired 10 assistants.

Yet we can’t hire our OC. I’d be less worried about Colorado.
Agree. But Colorado also stinks. They're a fair comp for the "it's a complete rebuild and he needs 6 years" crowd.

If / when Colorado looks competitive, scares a few teams, and hell, fields a functional offense, then hopefully it will prove to people that Schiano is way over his head and has no idea what he's doing (it won't change they're minds).

I think this is accurate

I am a fan of Schiano but in the new environment he may not be the right person.

If they'd had a decent kicker, they might have won 6 or 7.

I’ve been to fortunate to have visited almost every campus on that list. I agree Colorado is high on most lists. My comment is also my opinion based on being there and expectations from my friends that went there (who always describe it as the coolest place ever).

You also happen to have picked the one that ranks it the highest. It gets high rankings mostly because of its setting. The actual campus is nice with buildings that all look the same. When you go into them, a lot are very old and need updates. Student center was very cool. Definitely not a bad place to spend 4 years or more.

I also go to Yale a lot. I love the old/historical city schools but outside of the architecture and occasional green space, think it’s also a little high on the list because it’s Ivy League.
