OT: Prime Time will crash and burn

Glad to see so much passion on the topic. Wasn't sure if anyone would care to comment.

He’s a polarizing individual

Will be interesting to see if he succeeds at Colorado, but if there’s one thing I know about him, it’s that he love challenges

Hard to bet against someone with that much success and the self confidence to back it up

In his introduction speech to the team, he said "I'm coming" more times than you would hear in a 4 hour porn movie.
Well I would rather he that he is coming then about a 5 year plan because that isn’t coming anytime soon😀. “Don’t let his confidence offend your insecurities.”

You know the same people complaining about Deion and his first player meeting when he told most of them to hit the portal, would be complaining if he told Rutgers players the same thing. They would say that it’s not fair to these Rutgers/Jersey Men that they’re replace by these 4* mercenaries paid by Under Armour, Barstool, and others.

I agree...it will be very interesting. He will definitely attract a ton of attention to the program and a lot of talent. There's always been the theory that it's about the Jimmys and Joes, not the Xs and Os....and I tend to agree with this. This will be a much bigger operation than Jackson State....more to do...and it will be interesting to see how much control the school actually allows him to have once things are rolling.

It's absolutely the Jimmy's and Joes
The x's and O's are important as well, but won't matter if you don't get talent

Somehow I feel like they’d get over it once we started winning games again

Nobody would care if we started winning
All the bravado and faux outrage would immediately disappear if we started going to consistent Rose Bowls
Bro I hate to break this to you, but we’re never going to consistent rose bowls. Not in our wildest rutgersal dreams are we consistently making the rose bowl…. Tbh, I’m 33 years old, and I hope to see us do it once in my lifetime.

Unfortunately, I agree

For the sake of this argument though, I'm just saying if we started on a streak like that (due to a major donor stepping up Phil Knight style), as long as a Penn State / Baylor situation didn't happen, nobody would care about the methods it took to achieve that level of success

Sorry, don't see "polarizing." You also said you love or hate him. Don't feel either. Don't really feel much of anything about the guy. The thread tracking his progress or lack thereof will be more entertaining that the Lance Leipold thread.

First 2 games next year are TCU and then Matt Rhule-coached Nebraska

Not if Rutgers keep doing the same old same old. Coaches like Deion is the outside the box solution to help Rutgers problems.

😂😂😂😂😂😂 There would be certain groups would make Deion’s life (or Mike Leach) a living hell. Shoot, they said a 107-9 record in D3 or 2 FCS NCs wasn’t good enough for Rutgers.

I'm trolling you.
Ideally, the OC should have been in place by now. There's an OC Wish List thread, and I have several posts in there.
Longo would have been a home run and is a NJ guy. But he's gone.

Maybe Greg whiffed on his short list and got turned down, or the short list candidates took other jobs. If that's the case, that could be worrisome or just the way it is. Just like the head coach search 3 years ago, people are not beating down the door to coach at RU.

Maybe they have a guy in place, and they are holding off on the announcement. However, this does not make sense from RU's perspective as they need help from the portal.

So my answer is, it depends, but ideally it should have already happened.
Sounds like you are realizing it’s already an issue.

I would agree with that. But if you think there is a home run hire they are just sitting on, well, that’s very naive.

We’ll see if his quote comes to fruition. Article is paywall but you can see the quote in the tweet.

Man I pray that you don’t have to endure what I had to for the last 30 years for the next 30 years I am 62.

The TOS lists Coach Prime’s son one of it’s top 10 Heisman candidates. The buzz and press around the program is just off the charts.

no, I don't expect him to crash-and-burn.

he brings the potential to do great things... with the "free" attention he brings, the quality of player and coaches he can attract and the potential....

He's also seen college football from the inside - and knows winners rarely followed the "rules"... and I'd expect full-on grey-area/bending even in the lawless wild-west of NIL........

That might spin out of control.... between the white lines.. he'll do fine.

As a Defensive guy, Deion focused on the defensive side of the ball today while letting the OC focus on the offensive side.

Not a bad showing today.

He should keep the Cowboy hat all season. A little throwback to Bum Phillips Houston Oiler days.

What I want to see is if Deion insists his DBs do run-stopping. Deion never did. Now.. stopping a ball in the air... fantastic, he was. Stopping a ball in a ball-carrier's hand? Not so much. He'd let them pass by him to try a tackle from behind or simply allow himself to be "blocked" while he made sure the runner did not get the sideline.

Another angle... he could back up his swag as a freakishly quick and fast athlete. Will he end up with players with swag who cannot back it up? Will he avoid good players that don't display his style?

It is something to watch... as CU fans have seem to have decided. Football is an emotional game.. he has that emotion going the right way already.
