It's a brilliant move by Franklin. According to the PSU professor who posts here, he senses that under Franklin there may be a return to the days of lawlessness that existed over the last decade of the JoePa era. Penn State literally became State Penn as player arrests proliferated. If that's Franklin's sense with this team, why make it any easier for the police and crime victims to be able to identify the players by putting their names on their unis?

Talking about your hated conference foes uni's?? Must be slow on the two star train

I hope this huge news you boys are discussing doesn't keep us from getting anymore recruits this upcoming weekend. Maybe Franklin will run out of scholarships and you guys can get in on some of the left-overs..

Well it does make fools like you worry about what's being said over here.

If nothing else, you're consistent. Just so I know, is it Creep State or Creepy State? I believe I've seen both.

Creep State...

"DON'T ATTEND THIS SCHOOL! ....This school's biggest sell is partying, and football. They are closed-minded, and NOT at all kind to minorities, and they're homophobes. ...White students (unapologetically) wore "blackface" and KKK costumes for Halloween (see link below). This upset many minority students, and the school's only response was an email. Asians are openly made fun of, and forget it if you're gay or lesbian. Please, please, please stay away from this school! Especially if you're a woman who does not enjoy the prospect of being date raped, and no one caring after you report the rapist."

"The suit alleges that Mr. Vivenzio, who pledged as a freshman in 2012, was subjected to cigarette burns as well as “physically and mentally abusive late-night lineups that featured force-feeding of buckets-full of liquor mixed with urine, vomit, hot sauce and other liquid and semi-solid ingredients.”...

Mr. Vivenzio pledged through hell week and became a member, but as a result of “extreme hazing” dropped out of Penn State after his freshman year, then entered rehabilitation and therapy programs for alcohol abuse, the lawsuit states. He was readmitted but later left and in early 2015 was hospitalized because of post-traumatic stress disorder after continued trauma, those representing him said...

Mr. Vivenzio said he did not seek to become a whistleblower but went to police after Penn State failed to adequately act over eight months.

“What really allowed these horrible things to take place was the attitude and the practice and the culture of this fraternity, of the national fraternity and the university,” Mr. Freiwald said."

Are you seriously going to continue to waste your time with this stuff? You have had similar incidents on your campus (just like any other large campus) including a woman who was raped TWICE and questioned Rutgers handling of it and also the very well known Caitlyn Kovacs incident. Just stick to Sandusky/Paterno/Spanier/Schultz Curley - it is a much easier target and indefensible.

"Jun 19 2014

I was raped repeatedly at PSU. During one of the football games, as I was coming out of the bathroom I saw a bunch of guys yelling at an Asian girl. When I stepped in to defend her they turned on me, dragged me screaming down the corridor and no one stopped to help. This happens frequently and the faculty and staff do nothing to help. Neither does police on or off campus. They told me I should watch my drinking in the future after a half-assed police investigation. I don't even drink! That place is terrible and I don't recommend it to anyone.

Student review is an such a great source. I mean providing an email address so you can sign up ensures that every story is vetted. I would not be surprised if you wrote those yourself. In fact I could sign up right now and make the same claims myself about Rutgers.
Secondly the other link is one student claim in a lawsuit. We all know that doesn't make it fact. There are two sides to every story.
Penn State campus is not perfect but neither is Rutgers. Rutgers he had their fair share of issues.

So TTFP is going back to uniforms with no names. That just figures. Their program has always been about the brand and the he'll with any individual, especially if criminal activity might besmerch it. That's what happens when the Sanduski/Paterno affair resulted in only a slap on the wrist. I hope Flood's recruiting staff emphasizes the fact that when you play for Rutgers, watchers and announcers will know who you are.

When a Penn State fan is telling you how to insult his school because even he is saddened by the quality of your insults, then you really must re-think your position. Come on folks, give it a break...

This is a new and exciting subject. I like the twist on this one though.... without names, how will the announcers know who you are???

Honestly why post this? People on this message board used to love there jerseys with no names. People constantly asked why we couldn't have the same thing. Which led to the whole justification that we did it because recruits wanted their names on the jersey.

Beyond that, your post is a non sequitir. What is what happens when the Sandusky/Paterno affair only results in a slap on the wrist? You get names taken off of jerseys?

Forget the "throwback" angle - it's an obvious ploy to sell more game-day programs in the stadium.

Creep State...

"The racial tensions had been simmering almost the entire academic year at Penn State, which has an enrollment of 40,600, about 1,600 of whom are black. The threat against Ms. Wolf transformed discontent to fury. Protesters accused the administration of not taking the threats seriously and of jeopardizing Ms. Wolf's life.

In October, after attending a retreat, students compiled a list of complaints of racism. They included an elderly white man in town who had shoved a black student and failed to apologize, shopkeepers who glom onto blacks as if they were potential shoplifters rather than customers, restaurants that keep black diners waiting longer than whites and fraternity houses that slam their doors to African-American students."

Forget the names on the back, Penn State's gear wouldn't pass for respectable practice uni's. They aren't classic, they're plain and boring. I don't really like our Power Ranger uniforms either but c'mon man...

BS comes naturally for some, Jimmy is a good example of that and if that floats your boat, good for you [banana].
Penn St got themselves a HC that's a good salesman .One that will do anything it takes to get ahead.

Rutgers is stuck with a HC that values truth and tries not to BS the public or the recruits he goes after.
That puts RU behind in the salesmanship catogary , because of its HC putting his moral values ahead of the win at any cost strategy Penn St has used for years.
The GOOD shall triumph over the wicked hustlers.

Sorry but these are the tits. Even other fans that don't like PSU know that these things are iconic.

Glad the names are coming off. It was sad to see Hackenberg continually have to wipe turf stains off his name.

I don't know if this is true but none of this seems to bother the highly touted recruits who are going there in droves. Give Franklin credit, the man is a top notch college recruiter. If he and his staff can coach like they can recruit, PSU will be back on the national stage real soon. Much sooner than RU I'm afraid. I like the no names on unis, always have. His rationale for going back to them makes perfect sense. RU fans need to focus on Rutgers. We're not going to get better by trashing PSU at every opportunity. For us older folks, PSU represented Eastern football quite well for many years. They were the only legitimate national program on the Eastern seaboard. They now serve as a benchmark for Rutgers football. But with Franklin just killing it in recruiting, I believe they will put some distance between us and them in the next few years. That doesn't mean we can't beat them occasionally, I just think they'll contend for the conference crown much sooner than Rutgers will.

I'm sorry but State Penn has forever lost the right to say "it happens on every campus in America". To anything.

Just keep your tail between your legs, put your head down, walk away, keep your yappers shut and be happy that your school didn't get what it deserved.

I'm sorry you're such a hater.

But the problem is: how does the school handle those bad things and correct them ASAP.?
Penn St has shown to be lacking in that department , in the past and now needs to prove it will handle problems properly in order to gain the trust of the people condemning PSU's past history of doing as little as possible when it came to handling the bad things that happened on its campus.

As much as the stingy and petty attitudes of some our donors is annoying, at least they don't worship a dead criminal thug that jeaopardized the lives of children. Franklin plays them like a fiddle.

Also we would hate the TTFP coach no matter, don't fool yourselves. Franklin makes it easy and O'Brien calling out the cultists was nice but we hate everything about your program anyway.

Well, he is definitely more GG thank Lombardi, that's for sure. Dude can sell though, no doubt. Now he needs to win or the act will grow old.

This is all that matters. And to the PSU old guard "winning" doesn't mean going 9-3 and finishing behind Ohio State and Michigan in the division. Enjoy the crafty salesmanship. You guys all sucked off O'Brien too until he left. Like most programs you support the coach until it's time not to. So we will continue to ride Coach Skulnik and his "train of two stars" until he's no longer above .500. That's fine by us. This will be a steady climb for us...not a meteoric rise. We get that.

Fair post and PSU IS eastern football, no doubt. But the Rivals trophy doesn't equal B1G eastern division championships so that's a big "IF" when it comes to Franklin and his staff. Only time will tell. Let them talk smack in the interim.

Creep State...

We should want nothing to do with PSU. Nothing.

It's not just Sandusky, it's the whole feted culture. They are a really bad bunch.

I'm telling you, nobody from RU should go to Creepy Valley. Somebody is going to get hurt
and the police will white wash it. No pun intended.
