Not a snow weenie...but I'm glad to say I'm down to about 4 to 5 inches of really hard ice now...and I can see bare ground for the first time since mid January!!!

I've made it a priority to go outside to pee on the snow pack to help melt it. I even drink extra coffee in the morning. But the people in my complex are getting annoyed.

That's funny as hell! But it's no joke people are at that point with the snow and winter. Bac- what's up with that PB GFI guy on American Weather? He's holding on to the last breath of winter and he's being a real dick to anyone who disagrees with him. Sure, it's March and it's gonna get cold on some days (it may even snow again), but winter's days are numbered.

We still have a lot of snowpack by us - I'll measure it this weekend. The bigger problem is that our patio, patio furniture and wood rack have a 2-4 inch layer of ice on them.

Is your backyard in a lot of shade or did you just have more snow up there? In North Plainfield, I just have the crusty crap on the edge of the property and shady areas.

Our back has a northern exposure facing a state park/forest. All of the ice is from all of the roofmelt over the last week or so. At the start of the melting, we had well over 2 feet of snowpack.

yeah that has been something else lately.....he got a couple of storms right late in the season and now has a big head about it. His condescending attitude is out of control. It may in fact get colder and we can get some snow but the way he is talking about it like its definitely coming is out of line. Too much belittling. That's why I like to troll over there a little to balance things out

Even if it snows this time of year in any substantial way, its gone before the next day is over (f not before the afternoon is out.)

Yup. I remember April 1982 being like that. Warm, cold/storm, warm/melt.

WE got something similar I think in spring of 2000 - might have been Easter Day - about 4-6 inches of surprise snow - gone by the next morning at the latest. Looked pretty nice on top of the all of the fresh blooms.

We had snow in April 2003 as well (over 6 inches too). When I woke up I thought I was dreaming and remember campus closing offices/classes by noon (I was on the LX when I got the call from my job on Livingston not to come in; I got off the bus at the SAC and remember thinking had the call come about 2 or so minutes later it would have probably been a few hours before I got back to College Ave. At that point I also had only had my cell phone for less than a year). I think it was all gone within 2 days.

Ah - thats the one I was thinking of. THe one in 2000 was less than 3 inches.

We bad 1.5" of snow last April 15 (yes 2014) and I tell you it was not pretty...it did melt fast...but pretty was one of my verbal reactions to it! ;-)

My daughter was born April4,1982. It was raining when we went to the hospital, and later turned to snow. We ended with 8 or 9n inches if I remember correctly. It did not melt the next day though, as my friends funeral was a few days later, and we were walking through snow at the cemetery.

Amazing what shade will do for you - we still have 6-8" on our entire property, while people across the street, in full sun have no snow left - I feel so badly for them. Quite the cold pattern returning next week, so don't sleep on winter, yet...

The running tracks and trails should be snow free by Monday if this rain keeps going.

25 years ago today,it was 86 in Newark. As Mary Hopkin sang:"We'd thought they'd never end".

Okay, snapped a couple quick pictures this morning of our back, although the snowpack has gone down significantly in the last day or two.

Nice yard DJ!
We had two opening days canceled in the first week of April during my playing days due to spring snow, both times it was 65 the next day

I am going to tie this in eventually when the snow melts back to a couple of threads I started last fall, about seeding new areas with grass and transplanting trees! The back part of two of those photos is the area I cleared out last fall that backs to the state forest. If you look in the 3rd photo by the red tub, you can see sticks poking through the snow demarking the area where I put down grass seed last fall. Once the snow melts, I'll need advice on what to do with the seeded areas - fertilize it or add additional seed.

I don't know if I ever posted this picture of the grass coming in from November:

This was about 10 days before we got the Thanksgiving snowfall. I hope it survived the winter!

My nephew is in Pt. St. Lucie visiting his dad/ my brother who works for the Mets as an usher during spring training. He called to complain about the 87 degree heat and humidity. My heart was not exactly bleeding for him.....

Most of the snow pack is gone at the shore, but went hiking in Hartshorne Woods (Middletown/Highlands), and the deep trails still have a thick pack of ice, followed by mud. It was a challenging hike, but fun.

Still have 3-4" on 90% of my property, while most locations are now down to bare ground. We even played soccer today for the first time since late January, as the field was 80% free from snow (we just moved the goals away from the snowy section).
scarletdollar - was at RU for that 4/6/82 storm. Only April blizzard in recorded history in NYC with ~10" falling - iirc, we had 11" in NB. Great story from the Times...

Still have significant snowpack in the backyard - snapped some pics this morning, but didn't get the chance to load them. Will do so tonight and throw them up here.

Nope, just shade - works wonders. Will likely be gone in 3-4 days at this rate, just in time for some fresh snowfall Friday morning, if we get lucky (low, but non-zero possibility)...

Same here Zap happened to me in 82. Had our game cancelled but snow was gone next day think we had about 8-10 from that storm

Don't say that around PB! Two things to post that will set him over the edge: sun angle and climo.

Ours is mostly gone in Bridgewater. My backyard still has a section by a fence that gets virtually no sun at this time of year that still has ~2 inches and there are some other patchy bits, but almost all of it is gone at this point. Even most of the snow piles are gone - though some of the larger ones are still holding on.

Edit: Been loving the weather, though. My ideal temps are about 55 or so.

Here's our front yard today, courtesy of my wife...piles on the left side and untouched snow to the right of that - the"holes" are my footprints...

Looks like everywhere else is all gone except your front lawn. To me you either have a underground refrigerant or its photoshopped.

Actually, our neighbors on one side have a similar amount of shade and it's always a race to see who has the last bit of natural snow left (usually us, lol). My wife took the pic and while she has amazing Photoshop skills, she hates snow, so I was barely able to convince her to take this pic. I'm sure any number of Metuchen-based posters can confirm the snow, as we're right across from Tommy's Pond...

I think numbers had all his neighbors point their snowblowers in the direction of his front lawn.Seems to be the only snow left in Central Jersey.

Okay, so I've snapped a few pictures of my backyard from Saturday up to this morning, trying to get the same vantage point. Let's see how this came out:
