Posting on this board since little to no action on current events board, sorry.
Any suggestions are welcomed. Know anyone seeking a roommate. He is fully funded for six years at UCLA for Slavic languages. Any suggestions for a realtor. He will be in CA next month and starts school in October. Will provide my contact information when needed.

When I lived there 10yrs ago, Westside Rentals usually had a bunch of options. You have to pay for the service, but people would always share passwords as well. You can look at listings online but won't be able to respond without being a member. https://www.westsiderentals.com/

If you have the patience to weed through all the bad ones, craigslist is probably still a valid option there as well.

Thank's for the Westside link
No interest in Craig's list since he is not in LA right now

FWIW, I recall that there was an apartment building for graduate students in the 700 block of Gayley bordering the western edge of the campus. ; I lived there for a year 25 years ago. I don't know what its status is now, but it was an OK place to live then.

He missed the deadline for on campus housing which was back in June. He was still giving Oxford, Cambridge and Columbia consideration but the 6 year guarantee plus stipend was too much to pass up at UCLA. Thanks

Westside rentals. Look no further. That's your answer.

And if he lives close to Gayley, he should stop by Mongols and feast like a king (if he likes gorging himself on great, cheap Mongolian BBQ).

I'm assuming he has a car !

If so, and knowing what I know now, I'd look in Santa Monica. Not that long a drive and living by the beach is a world of difference (in a positive way)especially since Westwood started turning for the worse. shouldn't be THAT much more expensive than Westwood apartments either (granted I am not well versed on the rental market since I own)

anyhow just an idea to consider

I told him to pay the Westside fee. Santa Monica and Westwood are comparable in price with Culver City being the lower end for rentals. Thanks all

Culver City is OK. They have a good bar/restaurant scene there, but it's not a beachtown. I would have guessed CC is cheaper than either WW or SM

I just bought him a new car. I am headed out in 1-2 weeks. Any suggestions for a hotel in the area b/c I will stick around for 2 days. I am a Marriott and Hyatt platinum member.
Location is key over price
