OT: Stock and Investment Talk

And I pulled out the quote where the CEO said the base model won't be. I think we are talking about the same article. LOL!
I think you posted a quote stating something along the lines of Ford doesn't give breakdowns within a model in it's accounting. Which you thought implied the base models would not make money. And you may be right on that, but if overall the EV F-150 is profitable, while including R&D in the accounting no less, then I won't worry about the breakdown.

CW's latest In the Know episode:

Interesting piece; her equity outlook leveraged highly off a study completed by Tom Lee. Some good information in the study, but the 20% annualized returns over the next 7 years seems aggressive. I did not listen to the end; I gave up when she said housing will not change much, except for homes being built without kitchens, as people will rely on food delivery. I’m sorry, but that statement is bonkers!!!

Aggressive, but doable. Tech grew ~20% annualized over the past decade. Now with the tech pull back and consolidate, it's ready to move again.

That housing might slow after the gains of the last 12 months is not unreasonable. Houses without kitchens? People are going to have their breakfast delivered? They are going to pay the premium for others to prepare 100% their meals? I guess bonkers is a polite way to react to that.

Lots of folks in cities already go without traditional kitchens (especially in the EU).

Yes, in February I sold 1000 shares at $4.30 and it proceeded to go as high as 5.75 a day later. By mid-April it had dropped to 2.35 and has been on a slow climb ever since. IDEX is an EV “enabler” and among other things they own WAVE charging systems (wireless charging plate embedded in the ground that charges vehicles that are parked over them, currently used to charge electric buses while they’re stopped at bus stops), which has tremendous upside potential. Could be 7-10 dollar stock by the end of the year.
same here, originally in on idex at .80 , got scared off , made a few bucks, bought some more avg at $2 now

I just recently bought AMZN thinking it may be ready to start rolling again.

I'm all ready getting fidgety.

Did you pull profits on the way up?
AMZN and the FAANG moving up the last few days getting closer to earning season. NICE

Better than going to a casino, easier to win.

outgoing GME CEO to depart with $300 million. This guy hit the jackpot. WSB really stick it to the man.
Silly post. They are trying to stick it to hedge funds and short sellers. Stay focused on the facts.

They aren’t trying to stick it to anyone. They are trying to get rich. The whole “screw hedgefunds” is nonsense started by Roaring Kitty in his attempt to mask his true intent = pump and dump.

But to them, not Roaring Kitty, hedge funds are "the man".

Roaring Kitty basically started that movement with GME or if nothing else he brought world wide attention to it, which in turn accelerated the movement. However, nobody is going to risk losing money in order to stick it to “the Man”, hedgefunds, etc. That’s like saying someone goes gambling at a casino in order to teach the casino a lesson. Ain’t happening. They are trying to get rich - it’s that simple.

Quotes back in January, and I'm not going to search and link them as it's not worth my time, said they were willing to lose money to "stick it to the man"

Netflix with a pretty sizable down trend since last earnings. Likely the competition from Disney and lack of new quality content driving subscribers away?

yea, all the talk about competition kept me away from Netflix when you have FB, MSFT andGoog to invest in.

I know what they said - that was the movement subterfuge and public facing BS

Netflix is not in my big 5 of value techs, so I guess I am not a FAANG believe. Dump Netflix, add MSFT. That's the true big 5!

Happy you listened to me. NFLX is overvalued and has been for a while. Hell, YouTube is just as profitable.....and you get that with GOOGL.

Didn’t listen to you just came to this conclusion. I do generally gather as much input from my readings, whether the price is high/low and other investors opinions and make a sound investment decision, always open to other opinions.

I know you don't want to admit it, but as per previous posts, you were gung-ho with buying NLFX and I talked you out of it. So.....

Value rotation over? Value has been soft for the past month.

Goldman thinks Value continues leading in the near term but growth takes over towards the end of the year.

Keep the rotations coming though.

Reasonable position to have. I slightly decreased my value fund allocations, but moved this money to S&P 500 indexes, not growth options just yet. Let's see how the next few weeks go.

With Lumber continuing to come back down to earth(though it is still historically high) and the expected demand for housing over the next 10 years I'm keeping an eye on the home builders which have tailed off a bit lately after a fantastic run.

DRI is already cheap on a P/E basis compared to the preceding 4 years and 10% earnings growth expected yoy.

Overall good day for the market. Biotech seems poised to be the next sector to rise.
Very nice day, the techs at the last hour jumped up. I’ll have to check the biotechs, they have been down for a while.

I brought some NFLX before the market opened. The chart told me to buy.

+1
My top health sciences fund (PRHSX) has popped about 8% over the past month. And it is still full of undervalued holdings. Lots of room to grow!

BIG DAY tomorrow, Fed meeting notes and then Q&A with Powell. Buckle-up! LOL.

Lumber at $1010 heading into today, after dipping below $1000 yesterday.

My novice chart reading skills tell me peaks in March and back in Sept right at these levels create support here.

Ya NFLX at the bottom end of a pretty well defined year long range.

Looks like a good call.

Will you trade out at the top end of the range or looking for a breakout?

Not sure about lumber, but here are a few other ideas:

General thought seems to be, don't expect much, but getting nothing may let the market exhale, which could get it moving again.
If we get nothing, the party will continue for the next month (likely led by growth/tech).
