OT- Strange toys you remember having as a kid

Did any one burn ARMY men, tanks and model airplanes using airosal cans as flame throwers?
You could sear living things as well but I won't get into that.
I highly reccomend you introduce this to your own kids, lots of fun…just kidding!

My brother and I were pyromaniacs in our childhood. We burned and blew up model cars, boats, tanks, etc and army men. Our favorite propellant was Tester's model glue which was extremely flammable. We also had these novelty pellets that you set aflame which created a very long ash that resembled a snake. They burned very hot and emitted a lot of black smoke. I'm glad my kids didn't have the same "hobby" growing up.

Ahh sweet, sweet memories... my brother and I used to buy black snakes (sparklers, etc.) at Englishtown all the time when we were kids.

I think most males are fascinated with fire during their youth. Reminds me of these lyrics from the Kenny Chesney song, Young....

Lookin' back now makes me laugh
We were growin' our hair, we were cuttin' class
Knew it all already there was nothin' to learn

We were strikin' matches just to watch em burn

Who had one of these? You could design you very own 1960's 'modern' industrial structures - totally devoid of any aesthetic value

Now I know where they got the plans for Xanadu. Same exact color scheme and all.[laughing]

Don't forget acorn wars with garbage can lids as shields.
4Real-
BB's can take a tooth out as well...I know

Holy crap I totally forgot about acorn wars (my neighbord had a huge oak tree in their yard that shed about 6 billion acorns a year). We also used a to have a ton of fun with 'dirtbombs', those racquetball-sized clumps of dirt that can be chucked near and far, explode on impact but do no actual damage.

...my older brother and I also had Gotcha! guns in the mid-80's; they were like beta versions of the modern paintball gun...and when the SuperSoaker50 dropped in 1991, water gun fights were changed forever. I can still remember my Grandma buying all her male grand kids one like 3 days after they came out and all of us freaking out.

Lol dirt bombs ... great memories. I remember playing a game of pickup baseball with my friends in HS. I was playing right field and my buddy was out in left. I picked up a dirt bomb and chucked it his way, figuring it would explode somewhere nearby. My aim was better than I thought, though, and I hit him square on the top of the head. All I saw was a cloud of dust over his head and then him charging straight across the field at me.

Something similar happened to me. Back when I was in high school, my friend and I had hiked in the snow to the park that was not to far away from my house. He had been throwing an occasional snowball at me the whole time missing most of the time. We reached a stream that had a bridge that I crossed and we were now walking adjacent to each other along this stream when I made a slush ball and whipped it at him. It hit him right in the face. I was like "OH CRAP!" I wasn't aiming at his face. He was okay but he took off after me and I took off not wanting to eat snow. We had to follow the stream, the water was to deep to cross. What happened was the stream curved and the distance I ran was shorter than the distance he ran. I was exhausted and turned to look and he was now walking, about 40 yards behind. So I walked. I looked again and now he was running. So I started running. It went on like this for 10 minutes or so and then I hear "WAIT UP!". "WAIT UP!". Sure, wait up and end up wrestling and getting slammed into the snow. We went all the way back to my house like this. By the time we got back we were to tired and he was no longer mad enough to fight.

Who remembers the Revell (sp.?) models? Planes, ships, tanks, cars. The WWII ones were the best. I built the Japanese Zero, German ME 109's and ME 262, P-51 Mustang, P-38, British Spitfire, B-17's and B-24's, Sherman and Tiger tanks. I can remember building a replica of PT-109. It had a little JFK to glue to the deck. It actually looked like him!
