OT: The Shine Is Off Coach Prime

I actually missed it...still missing it
When Coach showed up in Boulder he basically begged current players to transfer and said he was bringing his own luggage (ie players from JSU). He then said this luggage was Louis Vuitton as in they were stud players.

I don't think Prime is shedding any tears

Sorry but, Neon Deion can act like transfers and depth doesn't matter on the Oline, but relying on a true freshman to anchor the left side of your line is a recipe for disaster. He's fixed absolutely nothing with the Oline and continuity is nonexistent. His perpetual rotating of the roster and depending on others to develop players for him is going to blow up in his face. He's churned through 97 players in just over a year.

Time to dust this one off and restart the conversation since it will be in the national spotlight again.

By all accounts, Deion is facing more scrutiny this year from the media and not liking it.

"Last week, the Colorado Buffaloes coach went viral after he refused to answer questions from certain reporters, expressing displeasure over their coverage of his program. He even declined to engage with a CBS Denver reporter he claimed to "have love for" due to dissatisfaction with where CBS Sports ranked him in a preseason coach ranking."

Can just imagine how bad it will get if the OL issues are not resolved or more stories about the culture start leaking out.

Should make for some interesting media fodder.
Seems like the Deion love is ending and reality has arrived.
Instead of the media proclaiming he has a golden touch, they now are saying he needs to prove it
>"If Sanders has another bad season the microscope will get far bigger than it is now.
So Sanders is working the refs ahead of that possible outcome by attempting to intimidate the media. If things go bad, he wants to preemptively stop journalists from asking tough questions. He wants reporters and opinion writers to feel it’s not worth the trouble. That there will be pain in return if they do."<

Remember last year when idiots were salivating over coach prime and throwing shade at Schiano ? That was pretty annoying . Those same people are very very quiet this year.

This is why you don’t run your mouth off. Football is won up front, period.

Deion is going to end up getting ran out of town. I said this when he got hired, but I do feel bad for the long time CU fans.

It’s going to end ugly IMO. I’d be losing my mind right now if he were at RU.

He was such an ass in that interview. Geez.

I generally don't follow preseason CFB media or practices etc. so I don't know what Primester is up to. I do even less following this year because the world is too crazy. I know Buffs got a TCU OL and that's it.

One way Prime got hurt this year was other coaches telling potential transfers that Sanders would leave after his son's last season (2024). I don't think that's the case but I can see where others might .

Last year's OL had added problems with the OC always calling for long pass plays the OL couldn't handle. The run game was flat and Shedeur and Travis were the main weapons so I can understand the long ball attempts - but Shedeur was getting killed. Then Sanders and his OL had a falling out. It didn't help that all the hype around Col made other teams want to beat them hard.

"Prime" was a creation and in the 80s/90s and it fit the culture then. Now with social media it gets too stale too fast. A salty presser now and then is fun, When it becomes daily its easy to tune-out. I'll watch the first games and see what goes on. Shedeur and Travis are two of best players in CFB so the highlights will be there. Sapp is enjoying his coaching role and I want to see how that all goes. Hoefully there is no "GameDay" show because that backfired last year

Sounds like Prime rib has gone to spare rib for you.
Never wished Prime any ill will. I like his flashy personality. He had to dog Colorado out of a deep hole. It would have been best for him to tone it down.

How many times do people need to learn the lesson that fast "miracle" turnarounds never last? Remember Michigan State's amazing season with a team assembled from the transfer portal? How did that work out?

Schiano said that he would build our program the right way and "it would be built to last." That's a lesson for young people and some impatient fans. There are no quick fix miracles in life. If you cut corners, failure will eventually catch up with you.

But for Colorado it was heavy about the money - the athletic dept was broke - didn't even have the money yet to pay Prime. Sanders was the 4th coach in ten years and the fans were mostly gone. The uni was even down with getting rid of existing players because too many had bad habits. Not everything is about W's/L's for Colorado.

Season tickets sold out again

Saw that the special teams coordinator is now gone from the Buffs staff just as the season is about to start...lol.

How is Coach Prime's recruiting pipeline going?

I think that may answer it all. If he gets the jimmy's and Joe's he can get coaches to do Xs and Os while he sells the program. I just don't know he has the work ethic.. the mental work ethic and discipline to get things done. He wanted everything to just work right away... not building it the right way.. was building it right-away.

If he goes on a winning streak again to start teh season we will all be watching... and the Big XII and their broadcast partners and advertisers will be happy.

Currently losing 20-14 to ND State late in the 2nd quarter, that's going to be one interesting post game presser for Coach Prime even if they win. 🤣

The hype continues - watching the media tonight you would think "Coach Prime" and his bison are beating Ohio State - A total media joke.

Shedeur (26/43 4 TDs 1 INT) and Travis Hunter (3 TDs with 132 yds) could both be Heisman winners if the OL could block. If they are this bad in 1st game it just gets worse because Col cant rush (59 yds) and OC calls lots of long passes. Hunter can make any QB look good because he just goes and gets the balls. I can see why he was #1 recruit in nation

Shedeur is 12 of 15 for 254 yds and 2 TDs.
Unfortunately he's still getting killed by his OL and the run game is anemic
Who makes Pat Shurmur their OC after NYGs?
Why would anyone make Pat Shurmur an OC? He was probably the best Sanders could find that actually wanted to coach there.

They needed help from the refs last night:
-Ignoring an obvious false start on a third down conversion that the announcer called out on.

-Clock still running after ND St picked up a first down on that last drive.

-A very obvious Head to Head Targeting call was ignored, also on that last drive.

-Earlier in the game, Colorado tried to steal possession when they didn’t make it on fourth down and ALMOST got caught by ND Sts offense.

Why don't you show the highlight where he pushed the defender in teh face in full view of teh sideline judge and no flag was thrown because they had both been hand-fighting. That was a flag he should have drawn and neither announcer said a word.

NDSU got a TD from about 10yds out, off a very obvious missed holding call.

Didn't see it.
WRs and DBs have their own game - often far away from LOS.
Things can tip personal (recall "Where's Crabtree?!)
Travis spent a month healing from a ruptured spleen off a cheap shot so "hand fighting" doesn't sound like much

Didn't see it.
..
Oh.. you SAW it if you watched the game or his highlights.. you just didn't SEE it.

Here it is... hint: the wide view barely shows it happening at the 18-yard line... after hand-fighting at about teh 25-20. Freeze the replay a few times and teh ref should have seen teh distance between him and the defender after a push to the head and thrown the flag. Hunter is great.. truly great.. he doesn't need star treatment on top of that,

On Sherman-Crabtree... Sherman was an ass. Him and a teammate thomas at Texas lost to Texas A&M with Crabtree... they hated the guy. Every time they saw him in the NFL they bad-mouthed him. This drama was all of Sherman's creation. What an asshat.

He gave a weird answer as to why he didn’t elect to just run out the clock with NDS having no timeouts left.
Something about his son wanting to reward a WR with a big play.
As if the sideline doesn’t control the play call?

Well- at least Prime and the Buffs kick off with a huge win against a very strong team- otherwise, some may thing the shine really is coming off lol

To early in the season to say the Deion bandwagon has lost it's wheels , but Sanders does have to prove he has what it takes this season after the way Colorado crashed last year .
Deion Sanders has shown an aversion to criticism from the media, when not treated like he can do no wrong he starts pouting and restricts access to those who won't baby him

I give him credit for playing that game. Was a no win for him. No way schiano would play a 1AA like that. That being said, he’s still way overrated

The match-up was announced in June of 2016.
Sanders would have looked scared that his team wasn't better then NDSU if he dropped the game..
Agree that Greg wouldn't play a tough FCS opponent like the Bisons are and if a cupcake is to be put on the schedule NDSU isn't the one you want.

Teams drop games all the time. We dropped Miami when Schiano got here. Could have replaced them with a horrible MAC team and just said don’t want to play 1AA teams.
And it’s not a knock on Prime. Personally, I feel if you are going to play a 1AA team, play the worst one you can find. I don’t even want to play Delaware. I’d play meac and patriot league only.

Well NDSU isn't coming back in the near future
Delaware is next year's FCS opponent then Weber St in 2026 , Colgate in 2027
