Here is one of several articles I had seen-I believe the crime rate was down across the country in 2023.
Laughable considering this is consistently one of the top 10 states to live in compared to your redneck shithole.
Every state has shitholes
Liege parts of NJ aren’t the nicest
Shot,Most places in the US there’s no way I’d live there
Yep.Every state has shitholes
Liege parts of NJ aren’t the nicest
Shot,Most places in the US there’s no way I’d live there
And every fanbase has morons and assholes like you. Have fun in your shithole state and double-wide.Yep.
Bothell, WA is a shithole
So is Camden , NJ
Every state has shitty areas
Never heard anyone describe Hunterdon as magical before. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode “breathtaking”.I love NJ, but there's plenty of bad area's here
Love FL, but there's area's I wouldn't live in if you paid me
Generally, along states that border oceans, the farther you get away from the coast, the worse it gets
That's not always the case, as I grew up in Hunterdon County and that's certainly a magical place
But go into Central PA, and some might consider that undesirable
To those bashing WA, there's beautiful parts
But some are meth infested dens, and the 300 days a year of gloomy weather would have me stabbing my eyes out
Re. Florida, interior portions certainly aren't all that
Gainesville...I'm looking at you
But parts near the coast - Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, Jupiter, Delray, Laudy, Boca, Naples, Venice, Bradenton, etc.... If you can't enjoy the beauty of those areas, there might be something seriously wrong with you
I see that Bothell is mentioned as a sh** hole but it can’t be that bad since medium income is $100k. It’s too close to Redmond, Wa and Bellevue, Wa, upper middle class to be considered bad. They are suburbs of Seattle, I lived in Redmond and worked in Bellevue years ago.I love NJ, but there's plenty of bad area's here

Neither have I - essentially just self proclaimed that name for HCNever heard anyone describe Hunterdon as magical before. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode “breathtaking”.
I have no earthly idea who or what Bothel is, was just saying parts of WA aren't idealI see that Bothell is mentioned as a sh** hole but it can’t be that bad since medium income is $100k. The one situation where the cop was killed during a traffic stop, no license plate on the car, the killer Henry Washington, was a Texas resident visiting relative.
Proud NJ Sports fan was the one saying Bothell was bad when he doesn’t even know the area.I have no earthly idea who or what Bothel is, was just saying parts of WA aren't ideal
Just like parts of FL are not exactly the greatest
if you listen to my neighbors all they complain about is Hunterdon is not what its used to be, too much trafffic and god forbid apartments being built...Never heard anyone describe Hunterdon as magical before. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode “breathtaking”.
I think it depends on where you’re at, where we grew up on the border of Somerset County. They enacted zoning laws in the early 90s after the Cushatunk houses and apartments went up off 22 near Merckif you listen to my neighbors all they complain about is Hunterdon is not what its used to be, too much trafffic and god forbid apartments being built...
Been to Seattle several time over the past 10 years, amazed by the downfall...
That one will find any opportunity to bash anyone not a white, straight male.Rabbit hole? What's up with that doc? 😃
I haven't said a single word about "red hats", "prisms" or "blue collar". I'm not the one pointing fingers at groups of people based on ethnicity. And I'm not interesting in anybody's finger-pointing narratives.
I don't know why NJG felt it necessary to dredge up a homicide from however far back in this thread. I'm not sure why you felt it necessary to drag American Indians into the discussion. We're talking about some guys who froze to death, perhaps due to drug overdose. WTF does that have to do with Muslims or American Indians?
You haven't been paying attention to politics for a while: people on both sides of the aisle have been coming down on government for a long time for allegedly being too heavy-handed. Crack down on BLM rioters and you're a racist oppressor. Crack down on people who stormed our Capitol and you're persecuting patriots. Jail people for committing crimes and it's new plantations. Enforce a judge's order about illegal use of public land to graze cattle and you're Josef Stalin. They don't know what to do. The loudmouthed usual suspects want law enforcement to back away from their side. Crushing the other side is AOK.I think it depends on where you’re at, where we grew up on the border of Somerset County. I remember a lot of the residents talking about how they didn’t want to turn out like Branchburg who had that farm developed into all of those big houses, etc.
Regarding Seattle, the place has been in a downward spiral ever since Chaz, or Chad, whatever they were called as they changed their name mid insurrection, took over multiple city blocks, and the spineless city leaders just stood there with their thumbs up their asses like a bunch of pussies allowing it to happen
I don’t know if the pay attention to anything to understand that a group of individuals should not be allowed to take over a city while the police sit idle and do nothingYou haven't been paying attention to politics for a while: people on both sides of the aisle have been coming down on government for a long time for allegedly being too heavy-handed. Maybe it was this…Proud NJ Sports fan was the one saying Bothell was bad when he doesn’t even know the area.
Newark by the arena & Ironvound is decentMost of NJ is great to live in. Even Newark and Plainfield have decent neighborhoods. Keansburg they are trying to fix it up. Camden has gotten safer.
None of it is a good idea. A bunch of far right wingers take over a federal property by force and get away scot-free. Moral hazard. No reason not to do it again. But if you're a politician you're often now in a position of damned if you, damned if you don't. Disney found this out in Florida: don't condemn a state law enough and workers create an uproar and resign, condemn it too much and the governor is after you. America has become a place where small groups of loud and pushy people run the dialogue.I don’t know if the pay attention to anything to understand that a group of individuals should not be allowed to take over a city while the police sit idle and do nothing
No matter how anybody tries to spin that, it is not normal behavior, and certainly not healthy for society
Don't believe the numbers you are quoting. Theft is way up but it's no longer reported in many states unless the theft is over $1000 or more. Here is one of several articles I had seen-
Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong.
Almost 80 percent of Americans, and 92 percent of Republicans, think crime has gone up. It actually fell in 2023. An expert blames a familiar culprit for the mistaken impression.www.nbcnews.com
Did US homicide rate rise or fall in 2023? The answer might surprise you.
The U.S. homicide rate dropped by the most on record in 2023 – a welcome reversal after pandemic spikes in violence.www.csmonitor.com
I added an article from the Christian Science Monitor which I believe is considered fairly moderate.
For the emoji crowd feel free to link a source with different information. I would be happy to read what you have in support of your belief on crime.
Where do you send your kids go to school when you live in the nice section of Plainfield, when you don't have $30k/year for privateMost of NJ is great to live in. Even Newark and Plainfield have decent neighborhoods. Keansburg they are trying to fix it up. Camden has gotten safer.
These are the type of questions I am glad we didn’t have to ponder living in Mahwah.Where do you send your kids go to school when you live in the nice section of Plainfield, when you don't have $30k/year for private
That was also disgustingNone of it is a good idea. A bunch of far right wingers take over a federal property by force and get away scot-free. Moral hazard. No reason not to do it again. We have a problem with unequal justice in America which is getting worse. Not a great development. That was also disgusting
Here’s an idea though - actually start enforcing laws and arresting people for committing crimes and…. Voila!
Crime starts going down
I'm not quoting anything beyond articles written based on what the FBI is reporting. Can you link any stories where companies state they are no longer reporting thefts?Don't believe the numbers you are quoting. Seriously? This is news to you? It started during the pandemic. I live that life. In retail beer and wine. It's not the companies it is the local and state governments that tell retailers not to call about any theft under $1000 as they won't show up. No police reports taken.I'm not quoting anything beyond articles written based on what the FBI is reporting. Can you link any stories where companies state they are no longer reporting thefts?
There must be some documentation of that policy. I will google it but if there is something you can link, I will be happy to read it.Seriously? This is news to you? It started during the pandemic. Yeah, but what about shoplifting in liquor stores ?Here is the issue I posted the article for-
Crime in the United States has declined significantly over the last year, according to new FBI data that contradicts a widespread national perception that law-breaking and violence are on the rise.
A Gallup poll released this month found that 77% of Americans believe crime rates are worsening, but they are mistaken, the new FBI data and other statistics show.
The FBI data, which compares crime rates in the third quarter of 2023 to the same period last year, found that violent crime dropped 8%, while property crime fell 6.3% to what would be its lowest level since 1961, according to criminologist Jeff Asher, who analyzed the FBI numbers.
Murder plummeted in the United States in 2023 at one of the fastest rates of decline ever recorded, Asher found, and every category of major crime except auto theft declined.
Yet 92% of Republicans, 78% of independents and 58% of Democrats believe crime is rising, the Gallup survey shows.
“I think we’ve been conditioned, and we have no way of countering the idea” that crime is rising,” Asher said. “It’s just an overwhelming number of news media stories and viral videos — I have to believe that social media is playing a role.”
Shoplifting is a problem. I cannot tell how much more it is in comparison to years ago but when I was on jury duty there were a number of shoplifting cases every day.Yeah, but what about shoplifting in liquor stores?
If he took the same drugs as he three then he probably was asleep.Cousin of Chiefs fan found frozen to death in pal’s yard claims homeowner Jordan Willis was dubbed ‘the chemist,’ may have ‘f–ked up’ drugs
“Jordan’s ‘the chemist,'” Clayton McGeeney’s cousin said of party host Jordan Willis.nypost.com
i think almost everyone heard this story and are awaiting the drug testing. The fan that rented the house and was still alive, Jordon Willis was known as The Chemist is in rehabilitation right now. I think he waited two days to have some of the drugs pass thru his system maybe, claiming he was asleep for 2 days. Some think he dragged the bodies outside after their death.
Look it up. In PA (and similar in NJ) the state had to approve it otherwise the cities would face lawsuits for adopting this policy. I know from many Philadelphia police that this came from the DA office. Many other cities have adopted this rule. There must be some documentation of that policy. I will google it but if there is something you can link, I will be happy to read it.
By the way the article I posted was more about more serious crimes than shoplifting. And not to understate the issue of shoplifting I would be for a policy that puts shoplifters in jail.
I did but could not find anything outside a statute in CaliforniaLook it up. In PA (and similar in NJ) the state had to approve it otherwise the cities would face lawsuits for adopting this policy. You mean pot?Since legalization the number of ODs and homeless has skyrocketed.
